    About Horizon Senior Living

Horizon Senior Living runs five small Adult Foster Care Homes, each with room for up to 20 people, in Clare, Gladwin, St. Helen, Standish, and West Branch, Michigan, and you'll notice right when you arrive they keep things quiet and comfortable in a country setting, surrounded by members of the Amish community, which can make the pace feel a little slower and easier. They help older adults aged 55 and up who want living help, like bathing, dressing, and handling their medicines, and they've got extra support for people who have Alzheimer's or dementia, with calm spaces set up so no one gets confused or wanders off. The staff stay around all day and all night, always checking in, and they include a doctor you can call if you need, visiting nurses, podiatrists, physical and occupational therapists, and they handle everything from reminders for the restroom to insulin shots for residents with diabetes. People can pick different rooms, including studios, semi-private, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units, all with access to cozy common areas inside and outside, wheelchair-friendly showers, and a laid-back, homey feeling.

Meals come three times a day, and snacks too, with options if you need kosher or vegetarian food, and there's a focus on good, healthy ingredients, so nobody's fussing over cooking. Horizon Senior Living is pet-friendly, lets people join in devotional and spiritual services whenever they want, and always plans activities, from group exercises and games to simple social visits or reading together, both on site and off. They let people stay as their needs grow, offering help with walking, using mechanical lifts, hospice if needed, and special support for those who need extra reminders to stay on track with their daily schedule. You'll find the staff are kind and professional, keeping things dignified, and since it's a family-owned, nonprofit place run by Baruch Senior Ministries, there's a focus on care that's affordable and based in faith, with Community Navigators to help new folks find their way through the admissions process.

Residents pay with private pay, social security, veteran's benefits, and insurance, but there are extra fees for moving in, short stays, additional care for heavier needs, extra people in the same room, and special charges based on how much support each person needs. They also offer short-term respite care, Adult Day Care, and help for veterans. The goal at Horizon Senior Living is to create a warm place where older adults can feel loved and respected-a spot where help is always near but everyone's encouraged to live as independently as possible, enjoy nutritious food they don't have to prepare, keep their minds and bodies active, and feel part of a caring community, with a touch of faith and a lot of everyday kindness. Housekeeping and laundry come with the service, and every care plan is made personal for each person, honoring what they need now and can still do on their own.
