    Moved my mom very pleased

I toured and moved my mom in and have been very pleased - from friendly front office Peggy to attentive tour guide Shelly, the staff and administration are responsive and thorough. The facility is clean, beautiful and homey with pleasant courtyards, warm decor, good security, excellent food, in-house hair service, and plenty of activities and social programs. Caregivers are compassionate and prompt; overall I feel my family is well cared for and would recommend their services.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression DaySpring projects a warm, home-like atmosphere with attention to aesthetic detail (warm colors, floral accents, Victorian-style decor) and landscaped outdoor areas. Many reviewers praise the facility's dining offerings, in-house hair services, secure gated courtyard, and clean interior. Administrative and front-office staff are frequently described as responsive and helpful, and visitors often observe friendly interactions between caregivers and residents.

Care and staff Care quality is a mixed but important theme. Numerous comments highlight compassionate, attentive direct-care staff who respond quickly to calls and provide hands-on assistance that families appreciate. At the same time, reviewers describe uneven staff performance and training; this inconsistency appears as variability in caregiver demeanor and in how promptly needs are met. Several reviewers raised concerns about clinical oversight and decision-making authority at the management level; these comments point to unclear clinical governance and the need for clearer policies about who makes clinical decisions. Taken together, the pattern suggests the facility can deliver strong interpersonal care for residents with moderate needs but may have operational gaps when clinical complexity increases.

Dining and activities Dining is consistently identified as a strength, with multiple mentions of good food and a varied menu. The facility also provides on-site grooming services and organizes social offerings such as games and group gatherings. However, accounts differ about activity reliability: some families report regular programming and social engagement, while others describe inconsistencies or canceled activities. Prospective residents should confirm the current activity schedule and staffing for programming during a visit.

Facilities and layout The physical plant is generally regarded as clean and well maintained, with pleasant courtyards and secure outdoor space. Rooms are available in private configurations; reviewers noted, however, that some rooms are smaller than average and that the building layout includes long corridors consistent with an older architectural style. Those who value a compact, cozy environment may find the decor appealing; families needing larger private spaces or a layout optimized for higher-acuity mobility should verify room dimensions and accessibility features.

Management, costs, and risk considerations Administrators and front-office personnel are often described as thorough and kind, and several reviewers singled out helpful staff during tours. At the same time, there are concerns about management professionalism and communication, including comments about decision-making approaches by owners and variability in how issues are escalated. Cost is a repeated concern—many families described pricing as relatively high—so clarity on fees and contract terms is important. Of particular note are comments indicating weaknesses in emergency-response coordination and clinical escalation; these raise substantive operational questions that go beyond routine dissatisfaction and merit discussion with facility leadership.

Practical takeaways for families DaySpring may be a good fit for individuals seeking a cozy, secure assisted-living environment with strong social features and attentive day-to-day caregiving for moderate needs. For prospective residents with higher medical or dependency needs, or for families who prioritize tightly defined clinical governance and rapid emergency response, the facility appears to have gaps that should be explored in person. During a tour, ask for written policies on clinical oversight, staffing ratios, emergency-response procedures, recent training protocols, a sample activity calendar, and a clear fee schedule. Observing staff interactions, speaking directly with the nursing or clinical lead, and reviewing licensing/inspection records can help clarify whether the facility’s operational practices align with your expectations and care requirements.

    About DaySpring Assisted Living

DaySpring Assisted Living sits at 572 Lake Forest Lane in Roosevelt Park, MI, and has been offering care since 1999, building a reputation for its honest, steady approach with a 4.4-star rating from a handful of online reviews, and you'll see that the community serves older adults through several levels of care including assisted living, memory care, independent living apartments, in-home care, and adult day services, all with support from a fully trained, accessible staff guided by the principles of God's love and an outlook focusing on nurturing and individualized help, and they've got options for people with Alzheimer's or dementia too, providing a whole section in a secured building with bracelets that alert staff if someone wanders and memory care rooms that are available in studio or semi-private settings, so people with tough behavior issues can be cared for in a safe spot, and you'll notice right away how they balance support and independence, because as a resident ages or needs more help, they can remain within the community and shift to higher care, which means less upheaval and a steadier life.

The place offers assistance with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, transferring, medicine management, diabetes monitoring (including insulin injections), and even extra support for bowel or bladder incontinence with reminders and care, and there's a nurse on staff between 12 and 16 hours a day to help with medical needs, plus 24-hour supervision, wheelchair-accessible showers, and transfer help for residents who need lifts or hand-on-hand moves, ensuring seniors get what they need without being hurried or forgotten. The living spaces come in different options, including furnished private rooms with cable TV, kitchenette, air conditioning, phone, and high-speed internet, and the rooms have private bathrooms for comfort, so people can feel at home whether they choose memory care or more independent settings.

Meal services are a strong point, since the dining is restaurant-style and features chef-prepared meals with all-day dining, special choices for allergies or diabetes, and flexible options so people don't always have to eat at a set time, which makes things feel more relaxed, and outside of meals, you'll find services like housekeeping, laundry, family support, move-in help, and a beauty salon on site for those wanting to keep up on appearances without leaving the campus, while transportation for errands or appointments is available for an extra cost, and there's free resident parking as well. The pet-friendly environment and open common areas with both indoor and outdoor spots, including walking paths and gardens, give everyone a place to relax or get a bit of sun, and the activity and events calendar is packed with resident-led groups, movies, music programs, arts rooms, fitness spots, a library, spa/wellness room, game room, and scheduled outings so people are never short on something to do if they want to join in or just sit with neighbors, with devotional services also available.

Devoted to safety and well-being, DaySpring has emergency alert systems, secured building features, and regular checks by staff, especially in memory care where wandering can be a real concern, and there's support for people who need hospice or respite services as well as those who just need help for a short time. Staff work to help each resident keep as much independence as possible, crafting plans so the right help is offered without overstepping, giving older adults opportunities to choose what they can do themselves. With specialized support for Alzheimer's, dementia, diabetes, and even residents with some harder behavioral problems, the community aims to cover a wide range of needs, and they also make sure to include families in the care process, offering advice for long-term care decisions and coordinating moves, which can be a relief when things get complicated. The place maintains a comfortable, lived-in feel, and while it's not luxury, they emphasize reliable care, safety, and a sense of belonging, focusing on keeping everyone engaged, comfortable, and treated with respect as their needs change through the years.
