    Compassionate staff, clean affordable living

I moved in recently and the compassionate, respectful staff made the transition smooth - they listen, are welcoming, and my family felt included. My bright one-bedroom apartment (living room, galley kitchen, bedroom, bath, patio doors) is roomy, very clean and affordable, with two nourishing meals daily. The location is convenient to doctors, shops and the university, and there are great amenities and activities (laundry, beauty shop twice weekly, game/reading rooms, big TV, Wii bowling, bingo, crafts, weekly errand runs and bus outings); dementia support and vaccine safety are in place. The only downside is the building could use some updates and an exercise room.

    About Arbor Oaks Living Center

Arbor Oaks Living Center stands at 108 Second Street in Spring Arbor, Michigan, offering a range of senior living options like independent and assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, rehabilitation, and respite care. The community sits near Arbor Manor Care Center and the Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church, which puts it close to familiar spots for many residents, and it doesn't require endowment or entrance fees since they offer all-inclusive rates. It's part of the Lloyd Ganton family of senior care, carrying on more than 50 years of experience in reliable and secure care for seniors, and the campus has other locations in Jackson and Brooklyn, but here at Spring Arbor, the focus is on letting people keep their independence as much as possible while making sure help's always available for those who need it.

People can choose among cottage-style homes, one-bedroom apartments, and studio options that start at $4,020 a month, and everything's single-story for easy access-no stairs. The apartments and cottages come with wall-to-wall carpeting, kitchens, barrier-free bathrooms, and either a private porch or patio, and folks can manage their own space with housekeeping, laundry for linens and towels, apartment maintenance, trash removal, and apartment monitoring while away. Meals work out with a continental breakfast and a main meal served daily in the dining room, and each apartment has a full kitchen for those who want to cook. Water, heat, electricity, and sewer are all included in the rent. The campus doesn't allow smoking in either public or private indoor spaces, but residents can have pets, including cats, and many enjoy the community's friendly cats wandering around.

The residential, assisted, and semi-independent living options offer 24-hour staff for emergency response, daily support, and medication management, with staff also helping with personal chores for those who need it. There's an enclosed courtyard, a library, activity room, and a beauty and barber shop on-site, and residents get personal mailboxes. Field trips and group outings are scheduled, and activity directors work full-time planning things, trying to keep days interesting. Community spaces include a dining room, an on-site restaurant for meals, and a salon. For folks with dementia or Alzheimer's, Arbor Oaks Living Center has memory care services focused on helping with routine chores, daily monitoring, and preventing wandering, so families can feel secure knowing staff understand what different stages of memory loss require.

The skilled nursing section at Arbor Oaks offers both private and semi-private rooms, skilled, basic, and rehabilitation beds, plus outpatient therapy, and accepts Medicare and Medicaid. Independent residents keep their own cars and belongings, while semi-independent apartments are for those who need a little monitoring but want some freedom. The main building has easy parking and access to highways like M-60 and I-94 for visiting or medical trips. The staff handle transportation to appointments and events, grocery runs, and help with general errands, and there's always someone ready for help day or night.

Amenities round things out-housekeeping, meal management, on-call maintenance, laundry, all planned with comfort and accessibility in mind. Residents enjoy scheduled activities, free transportation, a noon meal in the dining room, help with medication, grocery delivery, and no need to worry about shoveling snow or mowing the lawn. For those who need more, rehabilitation and hospice services are also available, and care plans change as people's needs change, all geared toward helping seniors live as independently as they can for as long as possible. Arbor Oaks Living Center is known in the area for offering dependable care with steady staff, and people have given it a 5-star rating in 83% of reviews and a review score of 9.2 out of 10 based on six reviews.
