    About Saint John's Lutheran Home

Saint John's Lutheran Home sits in Springfield, Minnesota, as a nonprofit, church-related facility started in 1901, and it works to help everyone inside its Circle of Care thrive together, so you'll find a real focus on faith, children, family, and the larger community, and they go about their days guided by a Christian mission and a vision where grace, love, and care matter to all. The main campus has a skilled nursing community with 65 beds, including a secured dementia unit called Riverhaven with 14 beds for memory support, and you can find all sorts of living options-one- and two-bedroom cottages, deluxe apartments, and studio apartments, plus Cottonwood Ridge apartments that let folks avoid yard work and repairs, while The Maples at St. John offers senior housing with helpful services so residents can stay independent longer but get the help they need. People who live here, their families, and staff see a lot of support from the St. John's Circle of Care Foundation, which raises money for special things like a chapel addition, an intergenerational playground where children and residents can meet, and good technology like a wireless nurse call system, and donations have also helped buy wheelchairs, lifts, and electric beds for more comfort and safety. Many programs run here every day, so you've got grandchildren and V.I.K. Club programs bringing kids into daily life with residents, and the Chapel of the Good Shepherd offers spiritual care-it's a place for all faiths, and there's a pastor on campus. The community also runs adult daycare, has a day care service, and there's a focus on memory care, so those with memory challenges have dedicated support and secure spaces, while hospice care is available for residents and others nearby. Lots of services round things out, like therapeutic recreation specially adapted to each person, classes, clubs, lectures, concerts, woodworking and craft rooms, ceramics facilities, a fitness area with whirlpools, computer access and help, and a calendar full of family events. Residents use walking trails, visit gardens, relax at the pond and pavilion, and eat together in dining halls. The campus has support from Medicare and Medicaid, accepts private pay, private insurance, and managed care, and the staff works together to give short- and long-term care, rehabilitation, assisted living, and skilled nursing when it's needed. The place runs on a sense of community, with the St. John's Circle of Care creating spaces, handouts, and forms to help families, and the principal officer is Rev. Elizabeth Eaton, and the mission's always been to share the story of Jesus, work with the Evangelical Lutheran Church, and help people find community, support, and care as they grow older.
