    Caring staff improved his wellbeing

I placed my dad here and it was one of the best decisions I've made-the staff were caring and compassionate, delivered high-quality care, and their positive interactions noticeably improved his well-being and led to a peaceful passing. I'm very pleased overall, with only minor room for improvement.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression A mix of family accounts indicates that Adair Village offers several genuine strengths alongside operational weaknesses that merit investigation during a tour. Positive comments focus on the quality of hands-on care, attentive memory-unit leadership, and a pleasant outdoor courtyard. Critical accounts emphasize gaps in supervision and responsiveness during incidents, and concerns about communication style from some managers. Care quality and staff Direct-care staff are frequently described as caring and compassionate; families describe improvements in resident wellโ€‘being and attentive support at end of life. Leadership at the memory unit is specifically noted as courteous and helpful. At the same time, there are accounts that raise concerns about staff conduct and communication toneโ€”including interactions involving supervisory personnelโ€”which suggest variability in how teams handle stressful situations. Prospective families should ask about staff training, turnover, and mechanisms for addressing concerns about staff behavior. Safety, admissions and incident response Several operational issues emerge around safety and incident response. One account describes a fall shortly after move-in and separate accounts describe delayed responses to alarms and periods when a wing appeared to be unattended. These narratives point to broader facility-level risks: potential gaps in admission orientation for new residents, uneven staffing coverage at the unit level, and delays in responding to alarms or other urgent events. Families should inquire about fall-prevention protocols for new residents, staffing ratios by shift, alarm-response procedures, and recent incident-response audits. Facilities, dining and activities Specific reference to a โ€œlovely courtyardโ€ suggests the campus has at least some well-maintained outdoor spaces. Reviews do not provide substantive detail about dining or structured activities; neither strong praise nor specific complaints about meals or programming were cited. Visitors should evaluate dining and activity schedules in person and ask for sample menus and activity calendars to confirm fit with a prospective residentโ€™s needs and preferences. Management and notable patterns The pattern across accounts is one of strong direct-care relationships coupled with operational inconsistencies at the unit/management level. Positive personal interactions with caregivers and effective endโ€‘ofโ€‘life support coexist with concerns about supervision, communication tone from certain managers, and emergency responsiveness. Given this mix, families should verify current staffing levels, incident logs, leadership turnover, and how the facility documents and communicates responses to safety events. Touring the memory unit during a shift change and asking to speak with unit leadership can help clarify how these issues are managed day to day.
