    Warm caring staff, home-like community

I'm very pleased with our experience - the staff are warm, responsive and genuinely caring, memory care is attentive, and the community is clean, well-maintained and feels like home. The spacious apartment-style units, grassy outdoor area by the golf course, active events and small gym make it a comfortable, social place I'd recommend.

    Summary of reviews

The aggregated reviews present a polarized picture of Big Sky on Waterford: many families and residents describe a supportive, home-like community with strong programming and individual caregivers who go above and beyond, while other accounts raise operational concerns that have affected care consistency and trust. Strengths most consistently described include a spacious, apartment-style living environment, well-maintained grounds and apartments, an active calendar of events (bingo, outings, a general store and rewards system), accessible exercise equipment, and a warm communal atmosphere. Several reviews emphasize that the activities program and social opportunities materially improve residents' day-to-day quality of life.

Care quality and staffing receive mixed assessments. Positive reports highlight compassionate, attentive caregivers and memory-care staff who understand residents' needs; a few individual clinical staff members were singled out for strong leadership and responsiveness. Counterbalancing that, there are recurring concerns about inconsistent staffing levels, high turnover among aides and licensed staff, and scheduling gaps that affect personal-care routines. Reviewers referenced delays in bathing and assistance, and indicated that clinical training and transfer-assistance practices may not be uniformly applied across shifts.

Dining and environmental maintenance are areas of notable variability. Some residents describe tasty meals and good overall cleanliness, while others cite inconsistent food quality, interruptions to meal service, and shortages or leftovers at dining times. Housekeeping and sanitation practices are similarly uneven across reports: positive remarks about a clean, bright community exist alongside specific cleanliness and odor concerns in certain common areas and kitchen-front spaces.

The facility’s activities, amenity set, and location are clear assets. Residents and families frequently praised the active social calendar, bingo and prize systems, outings, holiday displays, pet-friendly policy, and the advantage of outdoor space adjacent to a golf course and country club. These features support social engagement and contribute to the community’s home-like feel for many residents.

Management and accountability emerge as a central pattern. Some families reported good administrative responsiveness and noted efforts by new ownership to improve operations. Others described problems with leadership conduct, inconsistent follow-up from administration, gaps in incident communication, and concerns about security and accountability when items went missing or roommate situations were problematic. A small number of accounts reference safety incidents and concerns following resident events; these are described as contributing to unease about incident response and family communication.

In summary, prospective residents and families will find clear positives at Big Sky on Waterford in terms of setting, programming, and individual caregivers. At the same time, the facility appears to have operational variability that can affect the lived experience: staffing consistency, housekeeping and sanitation practices, meal-service reliability, security and incident-follow-up, and management communication are areas to explore carefully. An in-person tour that includes conversations about current staffing ratios, turnover, training for transfers and memory care, housekeeping protocols, roommate policies, and recent quality-improvement actions would help families assess whether the current operational state aligns with their expectations and care needs.

    About Big Sky on Waterford

Big Sky Senior Living on Waterford Way sits on a neat property with nice mountain views in Butte, Montana, though it's also listed as being in Anaconda, and serves folks aged 55 and older with options for independent living, assisted living, memory care, and nursing home services, so people can find help for many stages of aging, whether they're pretty independent or need more steady care. The community's got studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, and the feel's pretty home-like, with staff who aim to make things comfortable and familiar, providing care all day, every day, for those who need it. Meals are made by an executive chef and served daily, and there's housekeeping, cable TV, utilities, and transportation included for one price, which makes things easier for folks who want to avoid extra chores or bills. For memory care, they say they follow a holistic approach, with programs that try to help residents with dementia feel secure, and there's a focus on routines-plenty of activities, community events, and even gardening with raised beds where people can get their hands in the dirt, which some folks really enjoy. Amenities include a beauty and barber salon, an indoor theater, and organized wellness programs to keep the mind and body active, and the staff's known for being attentive and friendly, giving the place a bit of a family feel. The facility has connections to emergency medical services and supports residents with co-occurring disorders, which means they look out for folks with more complex health needs, and they've also got programs for service providers, sponsors, and yearly conferences, though those are things relatives might notice more than residents themselves. Reviews land at about 3.0 from a dozen people, showing some mixed opinions, which is pretty common for senior communities. People say the grounds are well-kept, and the community aims for maintenance-free living, so residents can relax and join in where they like without worrying about repairs or yard work, and memberships like AAA can get some deals on pricing. Big Sky on Waterford keeps its doors open all day and night, so help's always close, and the website's available at bigskyseniorliving.com for more information.
