    Caring staff, clean facility, welcoming

I chose this community for my mom and I'm very pleased - the staff are caring and attentive, the building is clean and well-maintained, and housekeeping and restaurant-style meals make life easy. There are abundant activities, bus outings, and family-friendly events that helped us feel at home quickly. I would recommend Cambridge Place to other families looking for a welcoming, active independent-living option.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: The facility is consistently described as an attractive, well-maintained independent living community with a warm, home-like atmosphere. Families and residents frequently highlight the combination of renovated interiors, pleasant common spaces, and well-kept grounds; reviewers often characterize the environment as comfortable and welcoming for visits.

Care and staff: Staff performance is a major strength. Reviewers emphasize compassionate, attentive caregivers who greet residents by name, engage socially, and assist with transportation and appointments. The community maintains an internal alert system for resident assistance and is viewed as responsive in medical-emergency situations. Staff involvement with family members, encouragement of family visits, and a general willingness to go beyond baseline duties are recurring themes.

Dining: Dining is another prominent positive. The operation offers restaurant-style meals with multiple options, varied weekly menus, and organized meal groups (including opportunities for family dining). Many families praise the quality and variety of food and the social aspects of dining. Operational caveats mentioned include an inflexible assigned-seating practice that some reviewers feel limits opportunities to mix socially, and occasional limitations in accommodating some individual dietary preferences. Additionally, limited in-unit kitchen appliances were noted as a constraint for residents who expect more in-room cooking capability.

Activities and social life: The community offers an abundant and well-planned activity program: regular on-site events, guest speakers, breakfast groups, puzzles and card games, exercise equipment on floors, and frequent off-site bus trips and social outings. Residents and families describe the activities lineup as robust and a key driver of satisfaction and social engagement.

Facilities and maintenance: The physical plant is generally praised for cleanliness, attractive finishes in refurbished units, and timely exterior maintenance like snow removal. At the same time, several comments point to aging-infrastructure issues — plumbing and heating repairs, and occasional makeshift or temporary cosmetic fixes — that suggest ongoing maintenance needs. Reviewers also noted small apartment sizes in some units, which may limit residents who want more in-unit space or cooking amenities.

Management and communication: Management style receives mixed notes. Many reviewers applaud staff helpfulness and responsiveness, while others identify intermittent communication gaps between management and families or residents and occasional frustration around repair follow-up. Cost is a separate, consistent limitation: the community is seen as higher-end and may be cost-prohibitive for some prospective residents.

Net assessment: The dominant pattern across feedback is strong staff engagement, high activity levels, and quality dining in an attractive setting. Prospective residents and families should weigh those strengths against higher pricing, the scale of in-unit amenities, and the potential for episodic infrastructure and communication issues. For those prioritizing social programming, compassionate staff, and a well-kept campus, this community appears to be a favorable option; for those requiring greater in-unit kitchen capability, lower cost, or turnkey building systems, these factors merit further inquiry during a tour and contract discussion.

    About The Iris Senior Living

The Iris Senior Living in Great Falls, Montana, sits in a quiet neighborhood and offers seniors a comfortable home with options for independent living, assisted living, memory care, nursing home care, adult day care, home health, and hospice services, so you'll see all sorts of support from folks who want to handle their own routines to those who need extra help with the day-to-day things. They have person-directed care and follow the True North Programs, which means the care plan changes with each person's needs and preferences, and you'll see round-the-clock caregivers, nurses, aides, and personal care assistants for bathing, toileting, walking, or even wound care and medication support. You'll find studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedroom apartments-with some as big as 1,000 square feet-complete with private bathrooms, kitchens or kitchenettes, fireplaces in some units, walk-in closets, cable TV, in-unit washer and dryer, and monitored emergency call systems, plus everything's wheelchair accessible and each floor's got safety features like sprinkler systems and handrails so folks can get around easier and safer.

The monthly rent covers three restaurant-style meals a day, all utilities except for phone and cable if folks want extras, weekly cleaning and laundry, and there's scheduled transportation for medical appointments or weekly outings to stores, events, and even fishing or kayaking along the Missouri River, which adds a bit of outdoor fun. The community allows pets, supports both onsite and offsite activities from arts, crafts, and musical performances to chair yoga, educational classes on things like using computers or tablets, and movie nights, and the staff help organize social trips, bus outings, and overnight adventures nearby, so there's always a way to keep busy if someone wants.

There's a no-smoking policy inside apartments and common indoor spaces, and loved ones can visit as there's guest parking on-site. Seniors can use the fitness center, beauty salon and barbershop, game and activity rooms, lounges with WiFi, outdoor courtyards for fresh air, and enjoy a dining room that serves regular meals, though folks can also do their own cooking in their kitchenette if they want. Spiritual needs are covered with onsite and offsite devotional services, and there's a focus on social engagement and a sense of belonging, where the atmosphere feels home-like and friendly, and people can make new friends or keep to themselves as they wish.

For anyone needing extra care, personalized support plans are set up, including memory care and nursing care with strong safety features, and folks dealing with Alzheimer's or dementia can get activities and secure settings meant for their comfort. The Iris welcomes people age 55 and up, encourages independence and exploration, and keeps costs affordable compared to living alone at home, and the monthly fees can work with long-term care insurance. The apartments are kept clean and the grounds well maintained, so things look tidy, and staff stay on-site 24/7 for emergencies or help.

In the end, The Iris Senior Living provides a lot for residents who want everything from a busy, social retirement community to folks who need skilled help, all while enjoying views and activities unique to Great Falls, and the place looks out for each person's health, happiness, and safety.
