    Small home, warm consistent care

My mom (103) is content here - the small, home-like facility feels safe and supports independence. The staff (Nicole especially) are warm, consistent and treat residents like family; care is well coordinated with engaging activities, appealing meals and regular photo updates. I'm very pleased overall and would recommend this place.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Most feedback highlights a small, home-like community with warm, consistent staff and coordinated care practices that support resident independence and social engagement. Reviewers frequently describe staff as caring and familial, residents forming friendships, and families receiving visual updates and communications that help them feel connected. The facility’s size and maintenance level are often framed as positives: intimate staffing, a comfortable atmosphere, and a building that is functional and kept up rather than newly constructed.

Care and staff: Reviews emphasize compassionate direct care and a stable caregiving team. Families note consistent personnel, knowledgeability among caregivers, and routine team meetings to coordinate care plans. These elements appear to contribute to resident contentment and a perception of safety and independence for long-term residents. At the same time, several operational concerns indicate potential variability in clinical oversight. In particular, there are concerns about medication management, informed-consent communication, and the level of clinical training among some care staff. These represent areas a prospective family should evaluate during a tour and care-plan discussion.

Dining and activities: Activity programming and dining are commonly described positively. The community uses a published activity calendar and offers engaging options that support socialization. Meals are described as appealing, and families appreciate photo updates that document daily life. These features support a home-like routine and opportunities for resident engagement.

Facilities and capacity: The building is characterized as small and well-maintained rather than newly built. That scale supports closer staff–resident relationships but also correlates with limited admission availability. Prospective residents should note that capacity constraints may affect admission timing and transfer options.

Management and notable patterns: While many families praise the interpersonal qualities of management and specific staff members, there is at least one serious account alleging breakdowns in medication-consent communication and abrupt discharge without transition planning. Given the severity of those claims, prospective families should directly assess administrative practices: ask about documented informed-consent procedures for medication changes, medication-administration oversight, staff clinical training and supervision, written discharge and transition policies, and the facility’s process for handling family concerns. Reviewing recent care-plan notes, medication administration records, and meeting schedules can help clarify how consistently the facility implements its stated practices.

Bottom line: The facility presents as a small, family-oriented community with many positive reports about staff warmth, engaging programming, and coordinated care. However, there are notable operational risk areas—particularly around medication-consent procedures, clinical training, administrative transparency, and transition planning—that warrant targeted questions and document review before placement.

    About Renaissance Senior Care

Renaissance Senior Care sits at 645 Liberty St, Kalispell, Montana, and holds license number #13535, offering care for up to 13 seniors. This place has a mix of care choices like independent living, assisted living, memory care, respite care, care homes, nursing homes, home care, hospice care, and rehabilitation, so folks can get the support they need as things change in life, and if you're looking for something broader, they're associated with senior housing options like senior apartments, condos, and townhomes as well. You'll find assisted living services designed for seniors needing help with things like bathing, dressing, or medication management, and their memory care works for those with Alzheimer's or other types of dementia, offering therapies and secure housing that lets folks feel safe and at ease. With options like companion care, incontinence care, and home care using trained aides for companionship, like if someone wanted to stay home but needed a bit of extra help and not medical care, they really span the needs of both active and more dependent seniors. Their setting aims to be home-like and welcoming, and there's a focus on treating people with dignity, respect, faith, and integrity, with staff who see caregiving as a calling, and they've even received awards like the Best of Senior Living, Best Activities in Senior Living, and Most Friendly in Senior Living, so people tend to notice the positive spirit here.

Amenities cover what most would want-chef-prepared meals, a fitness center, a salon and barbershop, and a dining room where folks can gather-plus things like arts and crafts, education programs, social activities, and health and wellness classes to help residents stay active. You've got washers and dryers, cable TV, WiFi, and kitchens or kitchenettes in the rooms, with housekeeping, maintenance, and features for safety, including sprinklers and accessibility details like walk-in tubs, so older adults can move about without too much worry. Safety's a big deal, so they've got medication dispensers, medical alert systems from brands like Bay Alarm Medical, Medical Guardian, and ADT Medical Alert, and special programs or resources for hearing aid needs or ID theft protection, which can make things less stressful. If folks need help getting around or to appointments, the community provides transportation services and a spot for guest parking, and there's walking assistance and personal care available for those who need it.

For families wanting a place where care changes with their loved one, like starting out living more on their own and then moving into a setting with more help, the continuing care approach here lets people stay in one place even as their needs change. Staff are known to be friendly and attentive, with the Administrator at Kalispell named Missy Olsen, and each facility has its own dedicated administrator. Laundry and dry cleaning are available, and if someone needs a quiet moment or a place to play games, there's an activities room, plus personal care assistants are ready to help when needed. Long-term care insurance is accepted, and they provide information and resources on things like internet and cell phone plans for seniors. Virtual tours are available for families who want to look around before coming. Renaissance Senior Care has its main office in Idaho Falls, ID and operates in several Montana locations, but the spirit of the place comes from the people-staff who want to help aging folks live with comfort and respect, in a place that feels safe and homey. With a community rating of 3.9 out of 5, Renaissance Senior Care offers a practical, caring environment where seniors can find the support they need.
