    Professional compassionate care; highly recommended

I'm very pleased with the care my loved one receives - staff are professional, compassionate, and treat residents like family (special thanks to Daisy in admissions and Nurse Courtney). The facility is clean, safe, and welcoming with great teamwork, clear communication, and thoughtful, personalized attention from management on down. Overall a very good, reassuring place I'd recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of Bloomfield Nursing & Rehab are highly mixed, with a clear split between families who describe attentive, caring staff and those who describe operational and communication problems. Many reviewers praised individual caregivers—particularly CNAs and nurses—for compassionate, personalized attention and for knowing residents by name. Admissions and marketing staff received multiple positive mentions, and several comments acknowledge improvements following a change in ownership: technology upgrades, renovations, and renewed staff training.

Care quality is the review topic with the greatest variability. Positive accounts highlight reliable nursing care, effective rehabilitation services, and a calm environment appropriate for rest and recovery. Contrasting accounts point to inconsistent care across shifts and units, delays in attending to resident needs, and concerns about the tone of staff interactions. Families seeking care for loved ones with cognitive impairment note that the facility maintains a dementia-unit focus on safety, though programming and supervision appear uneven depending on unit and time of day.

Dining and activities also draw mixed feedback. Some reviewers describe nutritious, well-prepared meals and improvements in food service under new management. Others describe inconsistent meal quality, occasional shortages, and a lack of engaging activities or structured programming for residents. Activity availability and meaningful social engagement emerge as areas where the facility could standardize offerings to reduce variability in resident experience.

Facility condition and housekeeping are presented in parallel contradictions. Several comments praise clean, well-kept interiors, sparkling floors, and orderly public spaces, along with secure entry policies. Conversely, other reviews raise sanitation concerns in certain common areas and note lapses in routine housekeeping and laundry processes. These opposing perspectives suggest variability in environmental maintenance that may depend on unit, time, or staffing.

Management and administration evoke both commendation and criticism. Multiple reviewers credit new leadership with proactive changes, improved training, and better responsiveness. At the same time, others describe weak follow-through on commitments, poor responsiveness from certain managers, delayed communications after incidents, and unresolved property-management issues. There are also isolated, serious claims alleging theft or missing personal items; such claims warrant direct inquiry and, where appropriate, escalation to facility leadership for documentation and resolution.

Notable patterns for prospective residents and families: the experience at Bloomfield appears to depend heavily on unit assignment, shift, and individual staff members. When considering placement, recommended due diligence includes a focused tour of the prospective unit, conversations about staffing levels and weekend coverage, review of the activity schedule and dementia-unit programming, clarification of laundry and personal-property procedures, and establishment of communication protocols for updates. Overall, the facility shows strengths in individual caregiving and has documented improvement efforts, but persistent operational and communication inconsistencies should be explored and monitored before making a placement decision.
