    Knowledgeable, kind staff; excellent care

I placed my mom at Cedar Ridge and was very pleased overall. The nurses, therapists and on-site physicians were knowledgeable, kind and attentive - rehab helped her make great progress, meals were good, and the building was clean, calm and active. Staff (and Angie in the business office) were helpful with paperwork and family involvement; they provided compassionate end-of-life care and I felt my mom was safe and well cared for - I would return and recommend Cedar Ridge.

    Summary of reviews

Reviewer feedback for Cedar Ridge is mixed, with clear strengths in clinical rehabilitation, direct-care staff behavior, and facility upkeep alongside recurring operational concerns that prospective residents and families should evaluate. Many families praised the bedside care: nursing staff are frequently described as caring and hardworking, therapists are characterized as skilled and focused on recovery, and on-site physicians are viewed as engaged and qualified. Several reviewers credited the facility with positive rehab outcomes and a sense of safety and comfort during stays. Housekeeping and sanitation practices are commonly described as consistent, and the building and rooms are generally seen as clean and well maintained.

Dining and activity offerings present a variable picture. Some families found the food acceptable and the kitchen staff friendly; others noted inconsistent meal quality and portioning. The activity program and activity director received positive comments for event planning and family engagement, and family involvement is described as a strength that complements resident wellbeing.

Operational patterns that recur across reviews center on management, communication, and continuity of care. Multiple accounts describe uneven communication from administration and business-office staff, delays or failures in returning calls, and concerns about admissions follow-up. Inter-staff coordination issues were noted, including disagreements between staff and treating physicians and inconsistent cooperation across shifts, which can affect care continuity. Staffing levels and responsiveness were flagged at times — families reported short staffing, delayed assistance, and variability in personal-care follow-through (for example, routine grooming and timely help requests).

More serious procedural concerns appear in several reviews and should be explored directly with the facility: infection-control continuity (including COVID-related outbreaks), questions about discharge planning and care transitions, and specific allegations related to billing or personal-property handling. Conversely, some reviewers commended end-of-life care and compassionate handling during difficult transitions. A few accounts indicate recent leadership changes and improvement under new management, suggesting that performance may be evolving.

For prospective residents and families: observe current staffing levels and their responsiveness, ask for details on infection-prevention protocols and recent infection history, review discharge-planning procedures and therapy scheduling, request written billing and property-handling policies, and meet both clinical and administrative leadership before placement. Visiting during different shifts, speaking with the therapy team, and checking recent inspection or quality reports can help clarify whether the facility’s operational practices align with your expectations and care needs.

Cedar Ridge Inn, found at 800 Saguaro Trail in Farmington, NM, offers skilled nursing and assisted living care with 101 beds, though they're not taking new patients right now and keep a close process for credentialing hospitals and practitioners, which they keep up to date online each month in a provider directory. The staff speaks English, and the setting is both warm and welcoming, with an aim to balance a community feeling while respecting each person's need for independence, so folks can get help with daily living if needed but still feel at home in their own private room. Each room includes television and Wi-Fi, so residents can stay entertained or connected as they choose, and there's salon services on-site for basic grooming needs, and meals are served in a restaurant-style dining room, which gives people a chance to socialize if they want to, and the dining team takes care to offer choices.

They put together care plans for each person, based on what that person needs, with a focus on recovery, and involve families as part of care decisions whenever possible. The clinical team is available all hours of the day and night, with an interdisciplinary team helping manage care, and social services staff available. They have structured activity programs and dynamic social events, so there's usually something going on to encourage wellness and keep residents engaged from day to day, but no one's pushed into anything they're not comfortable with. Cedar Ridge Inn tries to make sure every resident knows they matter, focusing on compassionate care, while supporting each resident's choices as much as they can, so whether someone is there for a short stay after an illness or injury or planning to stay longer, they get the support and therapies meant to help them feel better and keep their sense of purpose.
