    Welcoming community with excellent amenities

I moved into this beautiful, brand-new community on the Purchase College campus and have been genuinely impressed by the warm, attentive staff, helpful concierge, and excellent maintenance team. The facilities are top-notch - pool, gym, cinema and gorgeous common spaces - and the flexible meal-plan credits, terrific dining staff, couples-friendly options, and a broad mix of programs (fitness, arts, lectures, cultural outings and intergenerational classes with the college) make it easy to stay active and make friends. Reasonably priced with future-care security and a welcoming, engaged community, I'd recommend it to others seeking vibrant senior living.

    Summary of reviews

Broadview Senior Living at Purchase College is described largely as a new, thoughtfully designed continuing-care community situated on the SUNY Purchase campus. Reviewers emphasize the development’s strong integration with college life — intergenerational programs, student mentoring, class auditing, and joint performances are recurring positives — and the facility’s emphasis on lifelong learning. The physical environment is consistently praised: attractive common spaces, high-quality construction, and amenities such as a pool, gym, cinema, and well-appointed dining and coffee areas contribute to a country-club feel.

Staff and care quality are prominent strengths in the commentary. Admissions and front-line staff are characterized as knowledgeable, warm, and responsive, and specific team members and service areas (concierge, dining-room, Coffee Lab, maintenance) receive high marks for attentiveness and follow-up. The provider’s continuing-care model and stated future-care security are seen as reassuring for long-term planning. At the same time, reviewers identify operational concerns that prospective residents should weigh: there are repeated comments about leadership turnover and manager changes, and some mentions of inflexible management style. These issues raise potential questions about staffing continuity and the durability of the current culture as the community moves from pre-opening to full occupancy.

Dining and hospitality are notable selling points. The culinary program, flexible meal-plan credits, and attentive dining staff are frequently described positively; some comments note improvements in food quality and service. Activities programming is broad and active — fitness classes, arts, lectures, cultural outings, rehearsals and performances with the college, and frequent social events — supporting an engaged, socially busy resident experience that many describe as fostering new friendships.

Facilities and operations receive favorable notes for maintenance responsiveness and cleanliness. Because much of the community is new or still under construction for some residents, several reviewers wrote from a pre-move-in perspective, praising the sales and communications process while anticipating the finished product. That pre-opening status is a practical consideration: timelines, final fit-and-finish, and the launch of some services may still be evolving.

In summary, Broadview at Purchase College presents a compelling value proposition for seniors seeking an intellectually active, campus-integrated community with strong hospitality, dining, and amenities. The principal operational caveats are leadership/staffing instability and the transitional nature of a new, pre-opening community; these could affect service continuity as the community matures. Prospective residents and families would be well served to ask targeted questions about staff retention strategies, leadership tenure, clinical staffing and contingency plans, and expected timelines for construction completion and full program delivery before committing.

About Broadview Senior Living at Purchase College

Broadview Senior Living at Purchase College sits right on the campus, surrounded by peaceful woods and gardens, and you'll find it's made for seniors who want more than just a quiet place to live, because you get independent living, assisted living, enhanced assisted living, memory care, and even nursing care and home health options all in one location, so people stay as their needs change. The place has apartments and villa-style homes, and there are different floor plans with high-end touches like Merillat Classic kitchen cabinets, quartz or granite counters, fireplaces, roomy closets, walk-in showers, and your own laundry, plus you can pick furnished or unfurnished, and some come without kitchens for those who'd rather be served meals in the dining rooms. There's plenty to do with an indoor heated pool, hot tub, fitness center, spa and beauty salon, library, and a theater for movies and performances, and Broadview's Learning Commons, which is a large central space with classrooms, a coffee shop, studios, exhibition spots, and computers, makes it easier to keep learning, enjoy art, or join group activities with other residents, students, and teachers from Purchase College.

You'll find residents can audit college classes, join faculty travel, or teach and mentor, and they can spend afternoons at the Neuberger Museum or catch music, dance, and plays at the Performing Arts Center, since there's a special partnership between Broadview and the college, so that the seniors, students, and faculty gather for all sorts of cultural and educational events, and that intergenerational community builds lots of friendships and new ideas. The grounds have an 11-acre park with walking paths, gardens, outdoor performances, and a fenced dog area, and there's an outdoor sundeck, exercise terrace, grilling area, and Wi-Fi everywhere, so people get outside plenty and pets are welcome, though each resident handles their own pet care. Security's covered with controlled access, emergency systems, CCTV, a 24-hour attended lobby, nurse on-site part-time, and wellness checks, while transportation and parking are available for cars, bicycles, and guest vehicles, with rides to Metro-North, shopping, medical appointments, or outings arranged most days.

Staff can help coordinate medical care with a Health Care Navigator, and people can get medication reminders, help with bathing or dressing, assistance with two-person transfers, diabetic care, incontinence care, therapies like speech or physical rehab, and even hospice if needed, which covers most personal and healthcare support for a community like this. Daily life is easygoing since staff handle cleaning, laundry, linens, grounds, and even pest control, and there's always flexible meal options, chef-prepared dishes, nutrition experts, and special diets, and you can eat in several different dining venues or have guest meals. Activities run most days, with arts and crafts, music, gardening, exercise classes like Tai Chi and group fitness, seasonal celebrations, workshops, and devotional groups, plus offsite trips, and activity staff organize events and outings for anyone who wants to join.

Broadview's built for accessibility, with ramps, elevators, rooms for wheelchairs, transfer assistance equipment, and staff who speak English, and you'll see safety systems like emergency call buttons throughout the place. There's mailboxes, meeting rooms, exhibition spots, a clubhouse, reserved underground parking, storage, and a computer/tech lab, with photo and personal tours available for anyone interested in taking a good look around, meeting some residents and staff, or seeing a day in the life firsthand before deciding. Costs start with an entry fee, and payment options include long-term care insurance, regular insurance, private pay, and Medicare where it applies, and the community still has construction going on as they welcome more Charter Members, but many parts are open and active already. Overall, Broadview gives you a safe, engaging place to live with premium amenities and a focus on lifelong learning, surrounded by scenic views, gardens, and lots of chances to keep your mind and body busy, whether staying active, exploring new ideas, or just enjoying meals and daily life with others in a friendly, open setting.
