    Caring community, urgent repairs needed

I appreciate the friendly neighbors, quiet/safe location, and plentiful activities (movie nights, shopping trips, breakfast club); my mother is happy and wants to stay. Unfortunately the facility has serious cleanliness and maintenance problems - bed bugs, roaches, mice, overflowing trash, leaks, patchy renovations and black mold (including in A/C) - and residents have gotten sick. Management is unwelcoming, often unreachable, and housekeeping is inconsistent; units are overcrowded with non-lease occupants. It's a caring community that urgently needs major repairs and responsive leadership.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment is mixed but leans strongly toward concern. Reviews highlight a very active, social resident community and useful on-site amenities, yet they consistently raise serious and recurring maintenance, cleanliness, health, and management problems. The positive aspects—friendly neighbors, mutual resident support, quiet surroundings, and regular activities—are significant and meaningful to families and residents. Several reviewers explicitly say residents enjoy gatherings (movie nights, shopping trips, breakfast club) and find the building socially supportive; some family members report that a parent is happy and wants to stay. The presence of common-area conveniences such as laundry rooms and gathering spaces on every floor is repeatedly noted as a convenience and a contributor to the positive social environment.

However, the facility faces multiple, severe physical and operational problems that are frequently mentioned and interrelated. Reviews report extensive pest infestations (roaches, bed bugs, mice), overflowing outdoor trash, and poor overall cleanliness and hygiene. There are repeated mentions of black mold ‘‘throughout units’’ and mold inside air conditioning units, and reviewers link these conditions to tenants becoming sick or hospitalized. Additional building maintenance issues include leaks, water damage, and patchy or incomplete renovations. Some reviews indicate misinformation regarding central A/C availability or function. Taken together, these conditions present clear health and safety concerns for residents, particularly those who are elderly or medically vulnerable.

Management and administrative responsiveness are another consistent area of complaint. Multiple reviewers describe management as unwelcoming, difficult to reach, or limited by restricted office hours, with poor follow-through on resident concerns. This unresponsiveness compounds the physical problems because reported issues—pest control, mold remediation, trash removal, and repairs—require timely management action. There are also troubling reports about occupancy and lease practices: overcrowded apartments with up to six residents, and alleged non-lease occupants or misrepresentation of tenant status. These tenancy issues can contribute to strain on common resources, increase wear on units, and exacerbate housekeeping and trash problems.

Care quality is not assessed directly in the reviews, but the combination of maintenance failures, pest and mold problems, and management unresponsiveness suggests care and living conditions are compromised. While staff and activities may provide social and recreational support, environmental and administrative shortcomings undermine overall resident well-being. The most prominent patterns are: (1) a strong, supportive resident community and active programming; (2) serious, repeated reports of pests, mold, and cleanliness problems causing health risks; and (3) management and operational failings (limited hours, poor communication, and alleged occupancy mismanagement) that impede effective resolution of those problems. In summary, potential residents and families should weigh the notable social strengths against the significant physical, health, and management concerns reported in multiple reviews.

You'll find accessible apartments here, some for those who use vouchers or need specific supports, as well as plenty of engagement with activities aimed at social, mental, and emotional well-being. Office hours run weekdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with weekends closed. The apartments may be newer than some, built since the late 1980s, and tie in with affordable housing networks and local Housing Authorities, all helping to provide a solid, supportive place to live for seniors and people with disabilities, while blending the basics of senior centers, retirement homes, nursing care, and apartment-style living to cover a broad range of needs without a lot of fuss or pushiness, just steady and clear support for the people who live there.
