    Spotless facility, caring staff, excellent

I stayed here and was very impressed - the modern building and gorgeous grounds are spotless with no odors, and my spacious semi-private room was comfortable. The staff, nurses and administrator were attentive, positive and genuinely caring; the food was excellent and the activities (lectures, games, arts & crafts, exercise classes and entertainment) kept me engaged. They don't accept Medicaid (Medicare covers short stays), so it's a great option if you can afford it - I would recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive. Reviewers consistently praise The Stewart Health Center for its attractive setting, modern facilities, and the quality of both the physical environment and care. Multiple comments highlight the gorgeous location and well-kept grounds, and the building itself is described as updated and modern. Rooms are noted as spacious—even semi-private rooms are characterized as roomy and comfortable. Cleanliness is another recurring theme: the facility is described as very clean with no offensive odors, and staff are seen as cheerful and considerate, contributing to an overall pleasant atmosphere.

Care quality and staff performance are emphatically positive in the reviews. Words and phrases such as attentive, friendly, helpful, wonderful staff, and fantastic nurses appear repeatedly. Reviewers report that staff show genuine interest and that administrators are attentive, which suggests strong leadership and a culture of responsiveness. The combination of caring clinical staff and engaged management is presented as a central strength; reviewers felt well looked after and confident in the level of care provided.

Programming and social opportunities are also frequently praised. There is clear evidence of an active and varied activities program led by an engaging activities coordinator. Specific offerings mentioned include arts and crafts, exercise classes, lectures, games, and entertainment — all of which support socialization and engagement among residents. Reviewers highlight that these programs create ample opportunities for residents to interact and stay active, and the presence of exercise programs and lectures indicates a balance of physical, creative, and intellectual activities.

Dining and amenities earn positive notes as well. The food is described as excellent, and the facility atmosphere is described as cheerful and comfortable. Combined with the spacious rooms and modern building, the dining and common areas appear to reinforce a high-quality residential experience. Several reviewers explicitly recommend the facility, which underscores a high degree of overall satisfaction among those who reviewed their experiences.

The main limitation called out across reviews is financial/insurance related. Multiple summaries note that The Stewart Health Center does not accept Medicaid and that it is a good option primarily for those who can afford it. At the same time, reviewers mention that Medicare dollars can be used for short-term stays, which makes the facility accessible to some short-term Medicare-funded residents. This pattern suggests that while the facility is well-regarded for quality, it may not be financially accessible for all prospective residents, particularly those who rely on Medicaid.

In conclusion, the reviews paint The Stewart Health Center as a clean, modern, and well-run facility with excellent staff, strong leadership, and a robust activities program. Dining, living spaces, and the grounds receive consistent praise. The principal caveat is limited acceptance of Medicaid and potential affordability concerns, although short-term Medicare-funded stays are accepted. For people who can meet the cost or who have Medicare short-stay coverage, reviewers indicate this center is highly recommendable and provides excellent care and quality of life.

    About The Stewart Health Center

The Stewart Health Center sits on 65 acres in SouthPark, Charlotte, NC, and serves as part of the Cypress community, focusing on a mix of medical support and daily living. Folks will find both private and shared rooms, 67 private and 6 shared, all furnished with TVs, WiFi, and phones, some for couples, and others offering more space for individuals. The place houses a Medicare-certified, 79-bed skilled care facility with care offered for those needing long-term help, assisted living, or short-term rehab. Rehabilitation services are only for Cypress members and are tailored by certified therapists for each person, using modern equipment for speech, occupational, and physical therapy, covering things like building strength, improving balance, eating, dressing, safe swallowing, and talking.

People can get help with daily tasks like dressing, showering, and taking medicine, and there's a system to get help at any hour, twenty four hours a day. For those with Alzheimer's or dementia, there's a memory care neighborhood called Magnolia, which offers private rooms, a dining room, and activities like music, movies, arts and crafts, and exercise classes. Residents in memory care pay privately, though long-term care insurance may cover some of it. The Center encourages families to visit as much as they like, typically between 10 AM and 9 PM, with options for family outings and shared meals, and a chef and culinary staff prepare fresh food every day, aiming for good meals and plenty of choice. The community lets residents bring their pets, and works to build close, friendly connections between staff and residents, and keeps a high staff-to-resident ratio with a team of nurses, therapists, physicians, a medical director, social worker, dietitian, and an activities coordinator.

There's a big focus on keeping people active and engaged, both in groups and in one-on-one settings, with a recreation specialist on staff and activities planned by an activities director, from exercise classes to music programs and parties. Residents get daily laundry service, beauty and barber shop visits for a small fee, and can garden in 34 raised beds, walk trails by the lake, or sit on benches to enjoy the outdoors as seasons change. Care also includes in-home support from Quality Health Care Services for those who need help at home, starting relationships between residents and caregivers that go beyond the usual. On site, Matthews Radiation Oncology Center offers specialized cancer care, and there are psychiatric and psychoanalytic services to help with mental health. Accommodations come in various forms, like Cottages and Villas, and the living experience is designed to help people keep as much independence as possible while giving the support needed, making room for new friendships and time together. Amenities are aimed at comfort and ease, with seamless transitions for those moving in and a lifestyle that seems to lean more toward a resort than a typical care home, but without rushing or putting on airs, just making sure everybody has what they need, stays connected, and can enjoy each day.
