    About Spicewood Cottages Elms

Spicewood Cottages Elms, found at 39 Loving Way in Clyde, North Carolina, sits across three buildings where no more than 22 residents live in each building, so folks get a close-knit setting that's a bit quieter and more personal, with furnished studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and semi-private rooms that all have their own full baths, and you'll see there's always a staff member awake to help round the clock in case anyone needs something or there's an emergency. Each building's got its own living and dining rooms, and the place keeps up with renovations, inside and out, to keep things clean and comfortable, with modern touches throughout the Elms building and covered porches outside, and there are always spaces where people can talk or take it easy, while the whole place uses a monitored emergency call system and fire alarms for safety.

They help people with lots of needs, from independent living for those who want less hassle and more free time, to assisted living where staff will lend a hand with bathing, dressing, transfers from bed to chair, medication, and keeping in touch with healthcare providers, and for folks who need a bit more, there's board and care in a small setting, non-ambulatory care, incontinence care if someone can handle changing themselves, and support for diabetes, too, like checking blood sugar, but the staff can't give insulin shots. There's a secure Special Care Unit set up for Alzheimer's and Dementia that has a locked courtyard, keypad entry and alarms on the doors and windows, with calming murals on the walls to help keep things reassuring and homey, and activities aimed at residents with memory loss.

If a family caregiver needs a break, the place has respite stays, plus hospice is available. On-site management leads everything and there's a dedicated medical director who visits, with physical therapy offered by local home health agencies and on-site. There's an activities director full time, so most days you'll find something going on, from arts and crafts, daily exercises, wine and cheese socials, church services, and community outings, to just sitting on the porch or chatting indoors-activities get planned both by staff and residents, and some folks really like the devotional services or just having a good walk along the garden paths.

They handle all meals, including three meals and three snacks daily managed by an on-site dietary manager, who oversees special menus for diabetics or anyone with allergies, and if somebody needs help eating, staff can assist. Each room has cable and phone hookups, Wi-Fi, and the rooms come furnished, and housekeeping, laundry, and linen services are all included, so you don't have to fuss with chores. Transportation is covered too, whether it's getting to doctor's appointments or heading out for a group trip, and there's parking for those who drive or have visitors. The place welcomes anyone age 55 or older, and the staff keep things feeling light and friendly, always ready to help with kindness, whether someone just needs a chat or has more serious care needs.
