    Feels like home, caring staff

I live here and feel at home - the staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful, the food and flexible dining (7am-7pm) are excellent, and there are abundant activities and amenities (pool, gym, salon, on-site therapy, transportation). The community is clean, well-maintained, and family-like with responsive management. A few hiccups with promised services and occasional dining/administrative issues exist, so tour carefully, but overall I highly recommend it.

    About Bartlett Reserve

Bartlett Reserve sits in Durham, North Carolina, and is a senior living community for people age 55 and over, with a monthly fee between $3,800 and $4,950, and a one-time $5,000 entrance fee, and residents can leave if they give a 60-day notice since they offer a month-to-month contract, and the place really does put a lot of thought into making people feel like they're part of something, with cozy living spaces and friendly faces around. The community offers Independent Living, Assisted Living, Nursing & Rehab, Adult Day Care, Memory Care, and Home Health/Care, so seniors can find different levels of care as they need, and you can also get home care and private companion help. They also accept long-term insurance for personal care, veterans benefits, and they have Medicare certification, which is something many folks look for, and their programs focus on wellness and the personal well-being of the residents, with services tailored for each person.

The apartments have one-bedroom, one-bedroom with den, and two-bedroom layouts, each coming with a full kitchen-stainless steel appliances, granite countertops-plus washer/dryer hookups, walk-in closets, and private bathrooms, and you can pick a floor plan that fits your needs, while all units are modern, with features like cable TV, internet, and emergency call systems. Bartlett Reserve's common areas include a Fireside Lounge, resident lounge, library, art room, community garden, an on-site salon, outdoor heated pool, a putting green, patio with a fire pit, and there are indoor spots like a gym, movie theater, game room, coffee bar, and art center, all meant to give folks plenty to do and places to gather, and outside there are landscaped walking paths for a breath of fresh air.

The daily life here includes resort-style touches like restaurant-style dining or bistro "Freestyle Dining," housekeeping, laundry, and transportation for errands or outings, and they have a fitness club with personal trainers, treadmills, bikes, and weights, plus social activities, events, and a full calendar if you want to stay busy. The team at the front desk and concierge services are known for being extra helpful, always aiming to connect people and foster human connections, and there's a 24-hour emergency response system for peace of mind. The community lets people choose how independent they want to be, adding help when needed, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy available on-site, and they have dedicated memory care for residents with dementia.

Bartlett Reserve also has a pet-friendly policy, offers downsizing resources for people moving in, and provides brochures and guides for new and prospective residents, along with a senior living blog and an independent living guide. Tours can be scheduled so people can see day-to-day life, check out the dining rooms and amenities, and decide what's right for them. Staff members handle housekeeping, laundry, and beauty services, and the service approach comes out of a hospitality background, trying to make sure residents feel at home and well cared for. The community is designed for seniors looking for a comfortable, active lifestyle with support options in place, and everything from swimming in the pool to relaxing by the gas fireplace out by the patio is all about enjoying the day how you'd like, whether you need a little help or a lot.
