    Compassionate staff provide personalized care

I'm very pleased with the excellent, attentive staff - compassionate CNAs, dynamic nurses and a doctor with a genuine bedside manner. Sasha made admission seamless, administration is proactive and office communication (even during COVID) was strong; staff know residents by name, check in often, and give personalized, skilled care. I feel grateful and reassured - I highly recommend this facility for short-term rehab or long-term care.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a polarized picture of care at this facility. Many families and former patients praise the clinical skill and interpersonal qualities of frontline caregivers — CNAs, nurses, and a physician with strong bedside manner — and describe attentive, personalized interactions and frequent clinical check-ins. Admissions and intake processes receive positive mention, with specific staff called out for making transitions smoother. Several accounts identify the facility as meeting needs for both short-term rehabilitation and longer-term placements when the clinical team is engaged.

Care-quality themes are mixed. Positive comments emphasize compassion, continuity when established, and proactive communication from administration. Conversely, a recurring operational concern is slow responsiveness to call lights and requests, and uneven internal communication between staff and families. Reviewers indicate episodes where staff conduct or tone raised concerns, and some describe insufficient psychosocial support for residents experiencing low mood. There are also notes that staffing patterns — including long shifts and overtime — can affect continuity and the resident experience.

Dining and therapeutic services show variability. Some families report helpful, coordinated dietary planning, while others describe restrictive menu policies that conflict with individual resident preferences. The facility is viewed by several reviewers as competent for rehabilitation stays, but there are suggestions to verify dietary flexibility and activity engagement during a visit.

Facility condition and amenities are another area of divergence. Positive feedback highlights well-maintained interior areas and an orderly appearance in places, but other comments identify sanitation and odor concerns in some common areas, plumbing/maintenance problems, and inadequate temperature control. Several reviewers note limited in-room amenities and shared rooms that reduce privacy; prospective residents should confirm room type and HVAC/entertainment options during a tour.

Management and transparency draw both praise and criticism. Some reviewers commend proactive administration and clear communication, especially during COVID-19, and credit specific staff for smooth admissions. At the same time, others raise issues around recent management turnover, disciplinary practices affecting staff morale, and broader concerns about transparency and compliance. There are allegations about internal reporting and rating practices that prospective families may wish to investigate further via state regulatory records.

Overall recommendation: the facility demonstrates clear strengths in staff compassion, individualized attention when staffing is stable, and admissions coordination. However, persistent patterns in responsiveness, cleanliness/maintenance, dietary flexibility, room privacy, and perceived management instability warrant careful evaluation. Families should schedule an in-person tour, ask for current staffing ratios and recent inspection or complaint history, review sample menus and room options, and speak directly with nursing leadership about response-time expectations and care-planning to determine fit for a given resident’s needs.

    About Golden Years Nursing Home

Golden Years Nursing Home sits in a quiet country setting that's easy to get to from I-95, and since opening in 1965 has focused on skilled nursing and rehabilitation care for seniors and others needing support after illness or surgery, so you'll find a place where registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, and a team of therapists provide care around the clock, including IV therapy, wound care, pain management, tracheostomy care, and help with incontinence or fall prevention, and they also have specialized programs for memory care, palliative and hospice care, and assisted living. Folks can stay short-term for rehab between hospital and home, or long-term when daily living needs call for it, with private and semi-private rooms, some with features like full kitchens and modern furniture, and you'll see staff who look after safety, such as by regularly checking equipment like wheelchairs for wear or loose parts and responding to little things before they become big problems. There's a therapy gym and an Activities of Daily Living suite where people work on getting back strength, balance, speech, and mobility with things like electrical stimulation, diathermy, ultrasound, and everyday task practice, and speech and occupational therapy are available when needed, with care plans made just for each person so they can regain skills and avoid more hospital stays. Golden Years has a high A+ inspection score that's been steady over the years, although the overall grade is well below average at a D, so it's good to know both sides. The company is for-profit and part of Liberty Health, a family business that runs other care places too, and you see their approach in daily life with full-time physician coverage and special services including geriatric psychiatry and podiatry. Residents can bring some pets, enjoy daily social activities like music or light exercise, and relax in sunlit alcoves, common rooms, or outside on patios and in garden areas, while things like salon services, housekeeping, laundry help, room service, internet, TV in some rooms, and transportation round out the daily support, making it easier to focus on enjoying days rather than chores. Some rooms have bright lounges and outdoor seating, and the community welcomes people who want a quieter country environment but need skilled and attentive care, with staff who've been described as extremely nice and focused on keeping the place clean and comfortable.
