    Friendly staff, clean, good value

I placed my loved one here and overall I'm pleased - the staff are friendly, caring and responsive, activities are engaging, meals are good, and the place is clean and family-like with strong communication from management. The building is older (narrow halls), private rooms are expensive and shared rooms small, and there have been occasional medical/phone lapses and unprofessional incidents. Despite that, residents seem happy, independence is preserved, and I feel it's good value with attentive caregivers.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Lawndale Manor Assisted Living is generally positive, with many reviewers praising its value, cleanliness, and family-like atmosphere. Multiple families note that the facility is clean with no unpleasant odors, and describe common areas—such as the sitting room, library, and dining hall—as comfortable. Several reviewers emphasize that the facility feels small and personal, and that staff often treat residents with kindness and attentiveness. The community is described as family-owned and focused on individualized care, which resonates in comments about staff going above and beyond and managers being accessible.

Care quality receives mixed but largely favorable remarks. Many reviewers highlight patient, caring caregivers and active nursing staff on the floor. Positive stories include attentive activity directors, regular grooming services (hair and fingernails), and family members feeling grateful for the care their loved ones receive. The facility is noted for preserving residents' independence while providing supportive oversight. At least one reviewer specifically mentioned hospice care being provided, indicating the facility can accommodate higher-acuity needs for some residents.

Staff and communication are recurring themes with both strengths and weaknesses. On the positive side, reviewers frequently report responsive staff, strong family communication, and a good rapport with office staff and directors. Activity staff receive particular praise for organizing engaging programs and outings, daily devotionals, and special events such as Mother's Day celebrations. However, there are notable concerns about inconsistent professionalism among clinical and administrative personnel. Specific negative incidents were reported: missed nurse appointments, failed assessments, late or no-call behavior, a case of a resident being forgotten while on the toilet, and doctors not showing up for scheduled appointments. Some reviewers experienced rude or unprofessional phone interactions, including a caller being hung up on. These incidents create a patchwork impression: many front-line caregivers and activity staff are compassionate, but clinical coordination and some administrative interactions can be unreliable.

Facilities and accommodations show a clear split between functionality and age. Reviewers consistently describe the building as older with narrow hallways and small rooms; shared rooms in particular are considered cramped. While the facility is kept clean and comfortable, several reviewers suggest cosmetic updates are needed because some areas feel dark or dingy rather than bright and open. There is also a cost consideration: private rooms can be expensive compared with smaller shared rooms, which some families noted when weighing options.

Dining and activities receive strong positive feedback. Meals are characterized as adequate, nutritious, and in many reports, "great." Residents reportedly dine regularly in the dining hall and enjoy social meals. The activities program is a highlight: reviewers repeatedly commend loving activity directors, a robust activities calendar, games, crafts, entertainment, monthly outings, and faith-based programming. These offerings contribute to residents’ engagement and family members’ appreciation of the community.

In summary, Lawndale Manor appears to be a well-run, small, family-oriented assisted living community that offers good value, a clean environment, an active programs roster, and caring frontline caregiving staff. The major caveats are the building's age and room sizes and inconsistent clinical and administrative professionalism in a subset of interactions. Prospective families should weigh the strong social programming, responsive caregivers, and overall cleanliness against the potential for facility upgrades and occasional lapses in medical coordination or staff communication. For those prioritizing compassionate daily care, engagement, and value, Lawndale Manor is frequently recommended; for those requiring consistently flawless medical coordination or larger private accommodations, follow-up questions and careful tours are advised to confirm current practices and room availability.

    About Lawndale Manor Assisted Living

Lawndale Manor Assisted Living sits in a quiet, wooded area on Lakeside Drive in Garner, North Carolina, where people say the air stays peaceful and the birds are often louder than the road, and folks coming up the walk can see a building with brick siding and big white shutters, a shaded front porch, and a water fountain out front where residents can sit for some air or walk in the garden under tall trees, which always feels nice on a warm day. The staff gives help with basic needs like bathing, dressing, and medication, and there's always someone around-nurses are on-site for emergencies around the clock, with registered nursing staff working 12-16 hour shifts and supporting both independent and non-ambulatory residents, making sure everyone stays safe with a 24-hour call system, which means nobody's ever far from help if they press that button near their bed or chair.

The building, open since 1994, offers private and semi-private rooms, each one set up with a bathroom, central air, cable TV, Wi-Fi, kitchenette, and a choice of furnished or unfurnished arrangements so people can make themselves at home, and you'll always find the units have an emergency alert system, wide doors, and easy-to-move furniture for comfort. Three chef-prepared meals come every day with snacks between, and a dietician makes sure options fit health needs, so folks with diabetes or other conditions can get meals that don't upset their sugar, plus plenty of plain old good food for the rest, and a dining room lets people eat together if they like.

Inside, the community has a fitness room, movie theater, library, activity room, game room, spa, beauty salon, and places for music and arts, as well as outdoor patios and walking paths where folks tend to wander or rest in the sun, and the staff organizes daily programs, social events, clubs, and outings around town for shopping or doctor visits, while residents run some clubs themselves, keeping everybody busy-there's bingo, arts and crafts, movie nights, book clubs, gardening, holiday parties, live music, and fitness classes, with devotional activities both onsite and offsite for spiritual support.

Housekeeping and laundry come included, so no need to fuss over chores, and transportation services get people to appointments or on group outings, while folks needing more help-like with insulin shots or memory care-can get it, thanks to coordination with doctors, therapists, and visiting specialists. Haircuts, fingernail care, and spa treatments are available, and concierge staff help with special requests or planning moves, which makes settling in smoother for newcomers and their families.

The community has long had a reputation for kindness, with a friendly staff always available to greet visitors, and a philosophy that honors the stories and dignity of seniors. Lawndale Manor offers several living options: assisted living, active adult and independent living, adult day care, memory care, as well as nursing and rehab, and accepts different kinds of payment, including Medicaid, private insurance, and long-term care, so many families find options here. The rates are all-inclusive, meaning meals, staffing, and extra care are part of the price with no hidden costs, which helps folks plan ahead without surprises, and the facility holds a 3.0 rating from a few reviews, showing steady, reliable service through the years. Over time, people have recognized Lawndale Manor for its attention to care and the sense of community it brings to residents and families alike.
