    Caring clean home-like community recommended

I feel very comfortable leaving my loved one here. The staff are genuinely caring and attentive, led by an excellent executive director (Mrs. Majette), and the newly renovated, clean facility feels home-like. Care, communication, meals, activities, salon and outdoor spaces are all top quality; a couple minor improvements could be made, but I highly recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Hampton Manor elicits a mix of strong endorsements and substantive operational concerns. Many families and residents describe compassionate, family-style caregiving, experienced long-term staff, and a home-like atmosphere supported by recent renovations. The facility's activity program is a clear strength: reviewers highlight a range of offerings (bingo, arts and crafts, religious groups, holiday events, decorating activities), multiple activity rooms, a garden and covered porch, and an on-site salon that contribute to social engagement and quality of life. Cleanliness and maintenance are frequently noted positively, and several accounts praise nutritious, consistent meals and the perceived value of services.

At the same time, a pattern of communication and clinical-management issues appears in the feedback. Reviewers describe inconsistent family communication and organizational gaps at the administrative/front-desk level. Related operational concerns include lapses in medication administration and clinical follow-up, variable responsiveness during urgent situations, and uneven continuity of care across units. These themes point to weaknesses in staff training, scheduling, and incident-response protocols rather than a uniformly poor standard of care.

Staff tone and professionalism are reported as a strength by many — staff who "treat residents like family" and managers who make families comfortable were singled out — but other accounts describe variability in conduct and organization. Where managers or specific staff members provided clear communication and engagement, families expressed high confidence; where communication and administrative coverage were inconsistent, families expressed frustration and worry. One account described a serious end-of-life outcome that raised concerns about clinical decision-making and family notification; that incident underscores the importance of confirming emergency-transfer practices and notification procedures when evaluating the community.

For prospective residents and families: Hampton Manor offers several clear advantages related to atmosphere, activities, facility condition, and day-to-day caregiving when teams are well coordinated. However, the facility shows operational vulnerabilities around communication, clinical follow-up, and administrative coverage that can materially affect experience and outcomes. Visitors should meet with care managers to review medication-administration protocols, emergency-transfer and escalation procedures, staff training practices, and which managers will be primary points of contact, and they may wish to request references from current families to assess consistency in the areas that matter most to them.
