    Exceptional caring assisted living community

I'm very happy we chose this assisted-living community. The staff are amazing - loving, Christian, kind and professional - and management is knowledgeable with excellent communication. Care is high-quality and family-centered; residents stay engaged with bingo, puzzles, church and grooming services. The food is delicious, the building is spotless and smell-free, and my aunt looks great and smiles all the time. Five-star experience.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with repeated praise for the staff, the quality of care, and the cleanliness of Somerset Court of Goldsboro. Many reviewers emphasize the compassionate, welcoming, and family-centered approach of the caregiving team, calling staff "amazing," "loving," and "supportive." Multiple comments note that residents look and feel better — references to people "looking great," being happy, and experiencing joy, smiles, and laughter point to a warm, resident-focused atmosphere. Cleanliness and a smell-free environment are mentioned consistently, reinforcing an impression of a well-maintained facility.

Care quality and staff interactions are the most emphasized strengths. Reviewers describe high-quality, attentive care and excellent communication with families. There is specific mention of helpfulness in connecting families with resources and a sense that staff treat residents well. Several reviews highlight Christian, loving staff and a family-centered culture, suggesting both professional competence and an emotionally supportive environment. These comments are frequently accompanied by strong endorsements — "five-star experience," "best management," and expressions of gratitude from families.

Facilities, dining, and activities also receive positive remarks. The dining area is liked and food is described as delicious, and rooms are characterized as fine and well-kept. Activity programming appears varied and engaging: bingo, puzzles, church services, and grooming services are explicitly called out. Reviewers note active, joyful engagement among residents, which indicates effective social programming and opportunities for meaningful daily interaction.

Management commentary is mixed and requires careful consideration. Some reviews praise knowledgeable, experienced leadership and supportive management. However, a contrasting thread reports problems associated with new management: allegations that management forces employees to buy food, claims of a lack of funds, and concerns that these changes are "bad for business." This creates a notable pattern of divergence—long-standing praise for leadership and staff is complicated by recent, specific complaints about management practices and financial strain. These negative reports are fewer in number but significant because they pertain to staff treatment and operational funding, both of which can affect staff morale, retention, and ultimately quality of care if left unaddressed.

In summary, the dominant themes are strong, compassionate caregiving; excellent communication and family-centered practices; a clean, pleasant facility; enjoyable dining and activities; and overall high resident satisfaction. The primary area of concern lies in reports about recent management changes and alleged policies affecting employees and finances. While most feedback is very positive, the negative management-related comments warrant attention from prospective residents and families — and from facility leadership — because they could signal emerging operational issues that might impact staff welfare and long-term service quality if not resolved.
