It's spotless, quiet, about five minutes away, with balanced meals, daily activities, frequent outings, spiritual programs, and personalized care that gave us real peace of mind. I highly recommend this warm, non-institutional community.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive: families consistently describe Special Touch Living as a small, home-like assisted living environment staffed by warm, caring people who treat residents like family. Owners and managers receive repeated praise for hands-on involvement and clear communication with families. Specific staff members are named positively (for example Meko, Kurt/Kurt Eure, Kirt, Mico/Meko), reflecting a personal relationship between families, residents, and leadership. Reviewers highlight that the facility is clean, well-maintained, and comfortable — descriptors include "spotless," "fresh," "cozy," and "homey" — and several comments emphasize that it does not feel institutional.

Care quality and staff interaction are among the most frequently mentioned strengths. Reviewers point to an attentive caregiver ratio, individualized attention, and compassionate caregivers who provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support. Many accounts note that residents are engaged mentally and physically through planned activities, morning exercises, spiritual programming (Bible study and church outings), and regular socialization. Families report peace of mind, frequent updates, and an environment where residents are respected and allowed dignity; multiple testimonials explicitly say they "highly recommend" the community.

Facilities and amenities receive positive remarks as well. The community is described as small and secure, set in a quiet neighborhood with usable outdoor areas like a front porch and back patio that encourage a home-like routine. Bedrooms can be personalized, and common areas support family-style dining where meals are prepared by caring staff and eaten together. Reviewers also praise the food as balanced and home-cooked. Additional touches such as pet/puppy visits, volunteer involvement, and opportunities for residents to bring personal items (movie collections, etc.) are noted repeatedly as contributors to residents' enjoyment.

Activities and social life are a clear focus: residents participate in outings (shopping, church, community trips), structured activities (arts and crafts, gardening, coupon clipping, porch sweeping), and spiritual or volunteer-led programs. These offerings are presented as meaningful, purposeful, and tailored to residents’ interests, contributing to visible improvements in mood and engagement for many. The small size of the community is framed positively in most reviews because it enables personalized interaction, consistency of caregivers, and a family atmosphere.

Despite overwhelmingly favorable comments, several consistent limitations emerge that prospective families should weigh. The most important is scope of medical care: reviewers explicitly note that Special Touch Living is "not suitable for extensive care," and that it is better matched to residents who need assisted living-level support rather than high-acuity nursing or complex medical interventions. A few families express frustration with doctor-prescribed procedures or policies that felt restrictive; this suggests occasional tension between clinical directives and the facility’s approach to daily life. There are also isolated reports of falls that required urgent care — these appear to be individual incidents rather than a pattern, but they are worth noting for families concerned about fall risk. Finally, the small size that creates a family atmosphere can also limit available services or specialized care options, and regulatory constraints (for safety/compliance reasons) can restrict certain resident activities, such as cooking, which some residents may miss.

In summary, Special Touch Living consistently appears to deliver warm, individualized assisted living in a clean, intimate, and well-managed setting. It is particularly well suited to seniors who value a home-like environment, steady familiar caregivers, family-style meals, regular social and spiritual activities, and close family involvement. Families seeking high-acuity skilled nursing care or broad on-site medical services should consider other options, but for those seeking compassionate assisted living with strong staff engagement and a small-community feel, the facility receives strong endorsements and many positive anecdotes of improved resident comfort and family reassurance.

    About Special Touch Living

Special Touch Living sits in a quiet, safe neighborhood of Huntersville, North Carolina, right in the Shepherds Vineyard area, and you'll find it's a small residential care home with about five residents, all women, so it feels more like a family home than a big facility, and you notice right away the hardwood floors, carpeting in the bedrooms, a large back patio, and both private and semi-private room choices, with private baths and a warm, friendly setting that makes socializing easy. The community supports seniors who need assisted living services, independent living options, memory care programs for Alzheimer's or dementia, as well as skilled nursing care and home care services, and trained CNAs, RNs, and caregivers with lots of experience-some even live on the property to provide around-the-clock help with eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, incontinence care, wound care, medication reminders and administration, and personal attention for mobility, all while making sure privacy and dignity come first. Memory care programs use individualized care plans and offer activities and safety measures to reduce confusion and prevent wandering, so residents with memory loss feel calm and supported every day, and outings, scheduled morning exercises, and social and educational activities on-site or off-site give life structure and variety, whether it's games, arts and crafts, spiritual services, or time spent in indoor and outdoor common spaces. People get home-cooked meals three times a day with the help of a licensed dietitian if there are special diets involved, and there's help with laundry and cleaning, transportation and parking for easy mobility, plus amenities like Wi-Fi, cable TV, a dining room, washers and dryers, salon/barbershop, fitness center, a game and activities room, and even guest parking, with all facilities wheelchair accessible and fitted with safety features for peace of mind, like a sprinkler system, and maintenance is done regularly to keep the place tidy and safe. Special Touch Living stands out by offering clear help with long-term care insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and free guidance for families working through care options, with assessments and staff that know about healthcare staffing ratios; there's always someone to answer questions during business hours, and prospective residents and their families can schedule tours or take virtual visits, so they can see the atmosphere and talk about needs in person. The community doesn't publish exact prices, but they help families check out what's available, and reviews tend to praise the loving, compassionate staff who treat everyone like family, often mentioning how quiet and comfortable things feel, with staff always paying attention to the details that make daily life better. The community keeps a high standard for cleanliness, comfort, and care, and there's a strong focus on supporting independence while helping with the things that matter most, so if someone wants a smaller, quieter place with a family-like setting and attentive, long-term staff, Special Touch Living offers that kind of home in Huntersville, NC.
