    Lovely community, meals, but overcharged

I love everything about this small, very clean community - residents are happy and engaged, the scenery is lovely, and services feel top-rated and affordable. The owner is a nurse who's passionate and active in the community; meals are made from scratch, smell amazing, and are customizable to meet needs, which really improved my health. One caveat: activities are limited and I was charged for private care that wasn't performed, which left me feeling robbed.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is predominantly positive but punctuated by a small number of strong negative complaints that introduce important caveats. Many reviewers emphasize a warm, clean, small-community environment with staff and an owner who are hands-on, clinically informed, and deeply committed to resident well-being. Positive comments cluster around cleanliness, personalized attention due to the small setting, and an owner who is a nurse and active in the local community. Several reviewers explicitly state the community is highly recommended and represents excellent value for care.

Care quality and staff: Multiple reviews highlight exceptional, health-improving services and a passionate owner with a nursing background who appears to take an active role in care oversight. The small size of the community is repeatedly noted as a pro because it enables more individualized attention. These elements point to a generally strong perception of caregiving quality among several residents or their families. However, at least one review raises a very serious concern: being charged for private caregiving services that were reportedly not performed. That allegation, if accurate, contradicts other positive impressions and suggests there may be inconsistency in service delivery or problems with billing/administration that prospective families should verify in person.

Facilities and atmosphere: Reviews consistently describe the facility as very clean and pleasantly scented, with attractive scenery. The small, home-like setting and appealing physical environment are recurring positives. These aspects appear to contribute to resident engagement and satisfaction for many reviewers.

Dining and meals: Dining impressions are mixed. Several reviews praise the meals as made-from-scratch dinners, customizable, and "awesome," with one comment noting an especially appealing aroma. The owner’s community involvement in preparing and delivering meals to others is also cited positively. Conversely, another reviewer states the food was not home-cooked but canned. This direct contradiction indicates variability in dining experiences or differing expectations among reviewers; it would be prudent for visitors to sample meals and ask about menu planning, meal preparation processes, and how dietary needs are accommodated.

Activities and engagement: While many reviewers describe residents as happy and engaged, there is an explicit complaint about there being few activities. This inconsistency suggests that activity levels may vary over time or among residents depending on needs and staffing. Prospective residents should request a current activity schedule and ask how individualized engagement is managed.

Management, transparency, and value: Several reviewers describe the community as affordable and delivering excellent value, and they praise the owner’s hands-on approach and community outreach. Counterbalancing that, the complaint about being charged for unperformed private care is a significant management and transparency concern. It suggests the need for clear, written service agreements and careful review of billing practices. The presence of both highly favorable endorsements and a serious billing/service complaint creates a pattern of generally strong performance with at least one outlier incident that prospective families should proactively investigate.

Recommendation and next steps for prospective families: The reviews paint a generally positive picture—clean, small, attentive, and often providing home-style, customizable meals—anchored by an owner with nursing expertise and community involvement. Because of the conflicting reports about meal preparation and the serious allegation regarding billing and unmet private care, prospective residents or their families should tour the facility, meet staff, sample a meal, review the activity calendar, and obtain a clear written contract that specifies services, staffing levels, and billing details. Asking for recent references or speaking directly with current families can help confirm whether the few negative experiences represent isolated incidents or a recurring pattern.

    About At Home Loving Care

At Home Loving Care sits on seven quiet acres in Mooresville, NC, and doesn't feel crowded or noisy because the place has a small, homey setting where folks can feel secure and relaxed, and residents get to enjoy the comfort of private bedrooms that come with their own keys and fire safety features, plus everything's handicap-accessible with an emergency call system if help's needed. The staff stays friendly and steady, and people seem to like how the owners put care first, with a nurse leading things and making the residents' well-being the main thing, while three meals made from scratch get served fresh every day, and mealtimes are set to fit each person's needs and tastes. Residents are offered many activities, like book reading, horse watching, and group games, and every week there's stuff like board games, exercise classes, equine therapy, pool and massage therapies, and even therapeutic gardening if someone enjoys messing with plants outside. There's always help with things like bathing, dressing, incontinence care, and medication management, and healthcare is nearby with several physicians, hospitals, and plenty of pharmacies and physical or speech therapies right on site. Because the place is small, folks get more one-on-one attention, which helps those who need assisted living, respite care, or personal nursing care, and they keep COVID-19 away by following CDC rules closely. The common areas have porches where people look out over the land or just sit and talk, and there's lots of room for strolls; outings are common too since the community arranges rides to doctors, local parks, nearby restaurants, and even a theater for some local fun. Families get guidance if they're not sure what kind of care is best, with services set up to connect them with local advisors, and the overall reviews say the place is tidy, well-run, and invites lasting friendships. At Home Loving Care gives folks a quiet, familiar, and friendly place to call home, with staff that pays good attention to the small things, and a bit of country peace just outside the main part of town.
