    Dedicated caregiver fired; toxic management

I was a dedicated caregiver who truly cared for residents, but staff and management were unprofessional, unresponsive, and often misleading. I was fired after calling, not rehired with no explanation, faced false accusations, and endured low pay - Paula was sweet, but otherwise this is a horrible place I wouldn't recommend anyone live at.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly negative. Multiple summaries emphasize problems with staff responsiveness and management behavior, painting a picture of a facility where communication and professionalism are significant concerns. The dominant themes are allegations of misrepresentation and deception by staff or management, reports of unresponsiveness that could affect resident care, and specific personnel issues including accusations, alleged retaliatory firing, and opaque rehiring practices.

Staff and care quality: Reviewers report that staff can be unresponsive, and one review explicitly states the experience leaves a negative impression regarding resident well‑being. While the reviews include at least one positive personal note — a staff member named Paula described as sweet and a reviewer who says they cared deeply for residents — these individual positives are outweighed by multiple complaints about broader staff conduct. There is an allegation that a worker who was conscientious about resident care was fired after making a call and was later not rehired without explanation; reviewers frame this as retaliatory and damaging to morale and continuity of care.

Management and professionalism: A recurring and serious concern is unprofessional behavior and poor communication from administration. Reviews mention negative administrator communication, misrepresentation by staff or management, and deception. One reviewer alleges false accusations and lying directed at them by the facility, which suggests potential problems with internal investigations, conflict resolution, or human resources practices. Taken together, these reports indicate a pattern of distrust between employees and management and raise questions about transparency and accountability within the organization.

Employment conditions: Low wages are explicitly mentioned, which can contribute to staffing dissatisfaction and turnover. Combined with claims of wrongful termination or not being rehired without explanation, the employment environment described by the reviews appears unstable and discouraging for staff, which can indirectly affect consistency and quality of resident care.

Facilities, dining, and activities: The provided reviews do not supply specific information about physical facilities, dining quality, recreational activities, or medical care practices. The absence of commentary in these areas means no conclusions can be drawn from this set of reviews about the facility’s environment, amenities, or programmatic offerings; however, reviewers’ broad statements that "no one should live there" and that the place is "horrible" imply that overall experiences — potentially including non‑staff factors — were poor enough to warrant a blanket negative recommendation.

Notable patterns and considerations: The reviews emphasize interpersonal and ethical issues (deceiving, false accusations, unprofessionalism) more than operational specifics. Prospective residents and families should weigh these persistent complaints about management behavior and staff responsiveness. Potential employees should be cautious about pay and reports of problematic termination/rehiring practices. The only consistent positive notes are about particular individuals (Paula) and the reviewer’s own assertion of being a caring worker; these suggest that isolated staff members may still deliver compassionate care, but systemwide issues reportedly undermine overall quality and trust.

In summary, the reviews collectively present Good Shepherd HFA as an organization with serious concerns around communication, management integrity, staff treatment, and responsiveness. While there are mentions of kind individuals, the prevailing narrative is one of dissatisfaction and caution. Anyone considering this facility — whether as a resident, family member, or employee — should seek further, up‑to‑date information, ask detailed questions about complaints resolution, staff turnover, and accountability measures, and, if possible, obtain independent references or a tour to corroborate current conditions.
