    Friendly clean facility near home

I'm very satisfied with this nice, really clean facility close to home and just outside the city. Staff are friendly and seem happy-I'm treated very well, stay active with bingo and cards, and get out shopping regularly.

    About Carolina Rest Home

Carolina Rest Home sits in an old-fashioned neighborhood with rocking chair porches and private rooms, and they've been caring for folks for over 50 years, so you'll find most of the staff have worked there a decade or more, which helps give the place a steady, home-like feeling, since their philosophy's about making people feel comfortable where they live and not like they're just passing time somewhere. Walking paths cut through the grounds, and you'll spot others in the garden or in one of the quiet areas set up for sitting and reflection, and when it comes to community spaces, there's a dining room, an arts room for creative projects, a library, and even areas indoors made for gathering, chatting, or watching a movie together, with movie nights and resident-run activities happening pretty often. Folks can have pets, and there are offsite activities to help everyone stay connected, and on-site, you'll find both devotional activities for spiritual needs and unique, creative pastimes tailored to what people actually want to do.

Rooms come furnished and have telephone service, so people can stay in touch easily, and there's all-day dining with both restaurant-style and specialized meals, including allergy-sensitive and diabetes-friendly diets, all planned by chefs and meal planners who try to keep things nutritious. Laundry and dry cleaning are offered to keep things clean, plus there's housekeeping and incontinence care when needed, and the facility steps up support by giving non-ambulatory care and diabetic care for those who need a bit of extra attention. Assistance comes with the day-to-day stuff-like bathing, dressing, getting around, and taking medicine-since the staff is there day and night, with a 24-hour call system and emergency alerts to help keep everyone safe. There's medication management, too, and the barber/salon on site takes care of grooming needs.

Carolina Rest Home offers both assisted living and memory care services, with specialized features and areas for folks with specific conditions, and the support adapts as care needs change, whether people need full help or just a little bit. The setting feels more like a close-knit neighborhood than a facility, and the Director of Operations, Farrah Fleming, oversees a team that tries to balance comfort, safety, and meaningful activity for every resident, all with a focus on creating a place that simply feels like home to the people living there. Tours and meal visits are available by schedule, so families can see the place and join for lunch to get a sense for themselves.
