    Warm well-run comfortable senior living

I live here and am very pleased overall - the staff (shoutout to Nicole and Cody) and directors are friendly, attentive and professional, and the place feels warm and homey. My large, newer apartment has a full kitchen, new carpeting and appliances, a nice view and a clean outdoor deck; building is well-maintained and quiet. Dining is good (they offer gluten-free options), the dining room is pleasant, and there are plenty of activities, a craft/puzzle room, salon and a shuttle for outings. Small community, secure parking/garage, on-site laundry and caring staff make this a comfortable, well-run option.

    Summary of reviews

Hay Creek Lodge is consistently described as a clean, attractive, and relatively new apartment-style senior living option with a compact, home-like community. Units are characterized as spacious with full kitchens, ample storage, updated appliances and carpeting, and bathrooms fitted with grab bars. Common spaces and grounds receive positive notes for maintenance and pleasant outdoor seating; underground garage and outdoor parking are available. Several comments emphasize the facility’s small scale and newer construction as contributors to a calm, well-kept environment.

Staff and care quality are strong recurring themes. Reviewers highlight friendly, responsive, and compassionate staff, including references to helpful directors and managers. Families and residents describe individualized attention, timely assistance, and staff that foster a familial atmosphere. Security and around-the-clock monitoring are mentioned, and transportation services — including a free shuttle for appointments and outings — are viewed as a practical asset, with specific praise for reliable drivers and winter transport availability.

Dining is generally presented as a positive element: meals are described as well planned, with gluten-free options and several reviewers noting improved or pleasing food quality under recent kitchen leadership. That said, there are operational gaps related to meal service: some reviewers would like better accommodation of individual food preferences, and dining-area seating can be constrained at peak times. These items suggest the dining program is solid in quality but may need more flexibility or capacity to meet all resident preferences simultaneously.

Activity programming is comprehensive on paper — daily calendars, chair exercises, crafts, puzzle rooms, pool table, church services, and regular social events such as monthly birthday celebrations are cited. While many reviewers appreciate the variety and socialization opportunities, a subset observed variability in the level of activity engagement, indicating that program intensity and participation can fluctuate. Prospective residents who prioritize highly structured or intensive programming may wish to verify current schedules and participation levels during a tour.

Operational considerations include a payer model that relies on private pay; the community does not accept Medicaid, and several reviewers flagged affordability as a potential barrier. Accessibility and wayfinding were raised as issues by a few reviewers, with references to elevator/navigation constraints; these merit clarification for residents with mobility or orientation needs. The facility’s relatively small population is an asset for personalized attention but may also limit access to specialized clinical services available at larger campuses.

Overall, Hay Creek Lodge projects a favorable combination of clean, well-appointed living spaces, attentive staff, practical transportation, and a varied activity and amenity set appropriate to independent or assisted living-level needs. Families should balance those strengths against the facility’s private-pay model, potential dining accommodations and seating limits, and clarify accessibility features and current activity engagement during a guided visit.
