    Beaming mom, excellent dementia care

I placed my mom in their small memory-care community for respite and day programs and have been very pleased. Staff greet her by name, treat her like family, and provide loving, knowledgeable dementia care-keeping residents active with music, bowling, water activities, Bingo and special events; the facility is very clean, meals and coffee are excellent, and laundry/daily bedding are handled. The executive director's leadership shows in monthly care-plan meetings, inventive programming, and a warm courtyard-my mom is beaming and I'd recommend this well-run, affordable option.

    Summary of reviews

Across the summaries, CountryHouse Residence is consistently described as a small, well-maintained community with a strong emphasis on personalized, memory-focused care. Families emphasize warm, compassionate interactions: staff frequently greet residents by name, provide one-on-one engagement, and demonstrate patience and familiarity that contribute to residents’ comfort and positive mood. The facility is repeatedly characterized as having staff who understand dementia care and adapt programming and routines to residents’ needs.

Care quality and staffing are central strengths. Reviewers highlight attentive caregiving, frequent personal interaction, and leadership visibility from the executive director. Monthly care-plan meetings and ongoing communication with families are noted, indicating structured oversight and coordination of individual care needs. Several accounts point to a staff culture described as loving and patient, and to caregivers who keep residents active and engaged.

Dining and daily services are favorably described: meals are characterized as good, coffee is consistently available, and practical services such as daily bedding and laundry are in place. The activity program is varied and active, including music, bowling, water activities, Bingo, and seasonal events (Valentine’s Day, Christmas), which reviewers associate with residents’ enjoyment and social engagement.

The physical environment receives positive mentions as clean and inviting, with a courtyard and garden for outdoor time and private apartments that residents appreciate. Respite care and a day program are available, which families find useful for short-term support and maintaining positive caregiver relationships.

Notable patterns to weigh: the community’s smaller scale is presented as both a benefit and a limitation—it supports personalized attention but may constrain bed availability and the breadth of on-site clinical services. The facility is positioned more toward assisted living/memory-care than skilled nursing; families should confirm clinical capabilities if a higher level of medical or nursing oversight is required. Cost is a mixed signal: some find CountryHouse more affordable than institutional nursing homes, while others identify price as a potential barrier.

Overall, CountryHouse Residence appears to be a strong option for families seeking a clean, activity-rich, memory-focused assisted-living environment with attentive staff and structured family communication. Prospective residents and families should confirm current availability, the facility’s scope of clinical services, and pricing to ensure it matches the resident’s medical needs and budget.

    About CountryHouse Residence

CountryHouse Residence sits out in western North Dakota and has room for about 30 residents in a home-like setting set up to care for adults with Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia, so you'll find the staff's focus is all on memory care and safety, which is why the whole place is in a secured area with features like bracelets with alarms and a computerized wander alert system to help prevent wandering, and the whole building was built for that purpose so folks can age in place and move through different levels of care if their needs change. The residence feels comfortable, aiming for a family-style atmosphere with kind, caring, and patient staff, and there's a courtyard with patio, walking paths, and gardens for residents to enjoy when the weather's good, along with indoor common spaces, a barber and salon, and meals prepared onsite, served at flexible times with vegetarian and guest options. Daily help with things like bathing, grooming, dressing, dining, mobility, transferring, and laundry is offered, plus diabetic care, incontinence support, and medication management, and a licensed nurse is always on staff with a doctor on call, all backed by 24-hour awake staff every day of the year for supervision, care, and emergencies. Pets like cats and dogs are allowed, which means residents who always had a furry friend at home don't have to give that up, and the whole place is wheelchair accessible, with the right equipment to help move residents, even if they need a two-person assist or lifts for transfers, and they can handle residents who might have aggressive or difficult behavior, exit-seeking or self-harm risk, and those who may need help because of mild cognitive impairment or more serious dementia. Life here stays interesting with a full-time activity director who puts together outings like trips to the circus, dinner theatre, and concerts, plus in-house activities such as stretching, yoga, art, cooking, gardening, karaoke, intergenerational programs, and brain fitness, with lots of chances to take part in faith services both onsite and offsite, and a cognitive learning center is there for memory support and reminiscence. For families, there's ongoing support through monthly meetings, resource materials, and educational programs-they try to keep families involved and informed about any needed changes in care, and with a respite program, family caregivers can take a break when needed. Health, wellness, and life enrichment services aim to keep everyone as active and comfortable as possible, and there's the option for hospice care if that becomes necessary. The community has high-speed internet, a healthcare office, and keeps up on its license with regular checks from A Place for Mom, so standards are in place. CountryHouse Residence is part of Agemark and works alongside a sister community called Evergreen, which handles assisted living for seniors who don't need full memory care. Everything's been set up to help folks with dementia stay safe, comfortable, and as independent as possible, in a secured, supportive place that feels like home.
