    Warm clean caring memory-care community

I placed my mother here and have been very pleased. The staff are loving, patient and respectful, the community is immaculately clean and beautifully decorated (the memory-care wing is awesome), and there are chef-quality meals, lots of activities and pleasant outdoor space. Leadership and communication are strong, residents are treated with dignity, and I have real peace of mind - I'd happily recommend this warm, home-like community.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews describe Elison Assisted Living & Memory Care of Marietta as a generally well-kept, social community with many families and visitors praising its housekeeping, dining, and activity programming. The campus and common areas are frequently described as clean, airy, and hotel-like, with pleasant outdoor space and organized social events that contribute to a family-like atmosphere. Many families cited peace of mind, compassionate staff, and an engaged memory-care program that treats residents with dignity.

Care quality and clinical concerns: Clinical care receives mixed but largely positive remarks; reviewers praise caring nurses, regular evaluations in memory care, and on-site therapy services. At the same time, a recurrent operational concern is inconsistent staffing coverage and fewer licensed clinical staff on some shifts, which reviewers linked to delays in medication administration and incontinence-care timeliness. These issues appeared shift- and unit-dependent: some families report excellent, attentive care while others experienced gaps in responsiveness or supervision at particular times.

Staff and management: Staff are commonly described as friendly, respectful, and willing to go the extra mile, and leadership in some areas has been singled out positively. Several reviewers also noted strong family communication through a patient concierge. Contrastingly, other comments point to high turnover, short staffing, and uneven issue resolution. A smaller subset of comments raised serious concerns about billing, deposit handling, and refund practices; these are presented here as allegations that merit direct inquiry by prospective families.

Dining and activities: Dining is a clear strength for many reviewers—chef-prepared, restaurant-style meals with menus and customization are repeatedly praised, and dining staff are described as pleasant and engaging. However, a number of families described the food as inconsistent, characterizing quality as variable. Activity programming is broad and includes crafts, outings, birthday celebrations, church services, and therapy-based offerings; the social calendar supports resident engagement. That said, reviewers also reported inconsistent encouragement for resident participation and variable attendance, which appears related to staffing and scheduling practices.

Facilities and logistics: Physical facilities are generally well-regarded—spacious dining rooms, nicely decorated units in some cases, and walkable grounds. Some unit types (particularly smaller studios) were judged less suitable by some families due to layout and size. Operational logistics that drew concern include difficulty coordinating external medical providers, dialysis transportation issues, and limited availability in the memory-care wing at times. Price and perceived value vary across reviewers, with some describing the community as worth the cost and others citing above-market pricing or unexpected increases.

Notable patterns and recommendations: The dominant pattern is one of variability — many families report excellent experiences across care, staffing, meals, and activities, while a subset describe operational shortfalls that materially affected care or finances. Prospective residents and families should tour during mealtimes and activity hours, ask for current staffing ratios and RN coverage per shift, request written medication- and incontinence-care protocols, confirm transportation and external-provider coordination practices, and review billing/refund policies in writing. Observing mealtimes, speaking with memory-care leadership, and checking recent state inspection or complaint history can help reconcile the range of experiences described in these reviews.

About Elison Assisted Living & Memory Care of Marietta

Elison Assisted Living & Memory Care of Marietta sits on five acres of landscaped grounds along Browns Road, close to the Ohio and Little Muskingum Rivers, and although the walk score is low, folks live in a quiet spot surrounded by farmland where the setting feels peaceful and open. The community provides both assisted living and memory care, with specialized attention for people living with Alzheimer's and dementia, and the staff knows how to work with memory issues, making sure residents get help around the clock when needed. People can choose from studio and deluxe studio apartments, which have kitchenettes, safety-equipped bathrooms, and weekly housekeeping and linen services, and there are pull cords and pendants for help if something goes wrong, while the bathrooms have added safety measures too. The place is warm and relaxing, decorated with comfortable and inviting common spaces like a sunroom, living room, activity and dining rooms, front porch, and a chapel for quiet reflection, and there's always something for people who want to join in, like arts and crafts, music, happy hour, games, movies, faith services, outings to shops and restaurants, and group celebrations. Meals come from a culinary team that makes food that's both healthy and tasty, and in memory care they use the G.R.A.C.E. dining program so folks avoid stress or confusion while eating, plus the staff accommodates special diets and gives a hand with dining if needed.

Residents can get help with medication reminders, daily activities, and personal care, and there's scheduled transportation for errands, appointments, or shopping, so even with the car-dependent location, people aren't stuck at home. The grounds include relaxing patios, gardens, and outdoor seating areas with nice views, and indoors there are plenty of places to spend time, like a library, private dining room, activity spaces, and a beauty salon and barber shop for folks who like to keep up with their grooming. Pets are mostly not allowed, as they don't take cats or dogs of any size, and the pet rules are strict. The apartments range from 286 to 363 square feet and come with different layouts to suit different preferences. The care team builds personalized care plans for each person, treating residents like family, and the programs keep everyone busy and engaged, with weekly social events and a monthly newsletter to keep folks informed about what's coming up. Housekeeping, maintenance, and laundry services are all included, so people have less to worry about day-to-day. The building has no posted information on parking, but the property appears to offer parking and probably a garage, though details aren't clear. The community welcomes all people and follows federal protections against housing discrimination.

For those needing a short-term stay, respite care is offered as well. The focus is on keeping residents safe, engaged, and as independent as possible, whether someone's in assisted living or memory care.
