    Compassionate therapy, unsafe understaffed facility

I had a mixed, ultimately disappointing stay. The therapy team and several nurses/aides were compassionate and effective - wounds healed and rehab helped - but the place is chronically understaffed, often dirty, and smells of urine. I was left in a soiled diaper overnight until 6pm, experienced long call-light waits, late/missed meds, missed showers, lost laundry and rude, unresponsive staff and management. Food and housekeeping were poor, communication inconsistent, and I felt unsafe complaining. Only consider it for short, intensive rehab if you accept those risks; otherwise I would not recommend.

    About Wickliffe Country Place

Wickliffe Country Place has been serving seniors for over 30 years in Wickliffe, Ohio, and folks here seem to know it as a place where you get different types of care all under one roof, like assisted living, memory care, independent living, skilled nursing, respite stays, and even hospice care, so families looking for ways to help older family members stay safe and comfortable have a lot to pick from, and the staff, who include certified wound care nurses, full-time nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, Stafford services certified nurse practitioners, and therapists, do keep a close watch on the health and well-being of residents day and night. The building's memory care unit has secure features to help people with Alzheimer's or dementia feel less confused and prevent wandering, and regular support programs and activity-based therapies fill out days with things like book reading, movie screenings, live music, cooking activities, trips to local shops or even church, and a whole lot of friendly staff seem to pride themselves on making sure every resident can join the social side of things, which folks here say helps with loneliness. There's both short-term and long-term stays available, so families can choose what fits, and the team plans care around each person's needs, from help with bathing, dressing, housekeeping, and medication management, to mental health support and specialty programs in cardiology and wound care, plus a full menu of therapies-physical, occupational, speech, hydration, and respiratory-many of which go on seven days a week, so rehab after surgery or illness doesn't have to wait. Wickliffe Country Place runs Northfield Village Retirement Community as well and offers a well-stocked campus with a beauty salon, private rehab suites, lounges, a 24-hour beverage café, complimentary Wi-Fi, private dining rooms for family visits, and even a little gift and flower shop. The chefs and dieticians make sure meals taste good and help keep everyone healthy, with special attention for people who need certain diets, and the clinical team also lines up podiatry, dentistry, and optometry appointments right on site. There's a secured, activity-based memory care community, on-site cardiology and pulmonary care, cardiology and wound care specialty programs, and even home hemodialysis in partnership with the Centers for Dialysis Care, plus hospice if someone needs it, all adding up to a place that covers a lot of care without making you feel lost in the shuffle. Wickliffe Country Place has earned recognition for Best of Senior Living, Best Activities, and Most Friendly, and the main thing people seem to notice is how the place puts time and resources into activities and a friendly atmosphere, helping seniors stay active and connected, no matter what kind of care they need.
