    Warm, attentive senior care community

I moved my parent here and I'm very pleased - the staff (Cassie, Katie and the kitchen team led by Nancy) truly go above and beyond. The facility is clean, safe and full of amenities: large two-bedroom units with full kitchens, big closets/bathrooms, ice cream parlor, bar, library, exercise room, bus for appointments, church services, bingo and varied activities. Meals are excellent, care is attentive with 24-hour pendants and strong care coordination - overall a warm, comfortable community I'd recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment in these reviews is strongly positive about the physical facility, the level of service, and the range of amenities, with the principal and recurring concern being cost. Multiple reviewers emphasize that Primrose Retirement Community of Zanesville is a newer, well-appointed community with large, comfortable living spaces (including very large bathrooms and closets, two-bedroom units, and full kitchens in some apartments). The property is repeatedly described as "very nice" and among the "nicest" options, suggesting that the building quality and unit layout are major selling points.

Staff and care quality emerge as a clear strength. Reviewers use phrases such as "staff above and beyond" and "attentive staff and facility," and they note safety features like a 24-hour care pendant. The presence of attentive caregiving and a reliable pendant system suggests residents and families perceive the community as responsive and safety-conscious. Transportation support is also highlighted positively — there is a scheduled bus for doctor visits and store trips — indicating practical logistical help for residents who need off-site appointments or errands.

Amenity-wise the community offers a broad and sometimes distinctive mix: an exercise room for fitness, a library, an on-site bar, and an ice cream parlor/shop are specifically mentioned, with the ice cream feature called out multiple times. Regular programming such as church services, bingo, entertainment, and activities are also listed, pointing to active social and recreational offerings that support community life and engagement. Together, these amenities and programs paint a picture of a community that emphasizes both lifestyle and social opportunities in addition to care services.

The dominant negative theme is cost. Multiple reviewers label the community as the "most expensive" and "financially impractical," and several comments qualify the positive aspects with the caveat "great if affordable" or similar. This pattern indicates that while the quality of the facility, staff, and amenities is high, the price point may place Primrose out of reach for some prospective residents or families. No other consistent operational or service-related complaints appear in the provided summaries; concerns are focused almost exclusively on affordability rather than on staff performance, cleanliness, safety, or programming.

In summary, the reviews depict Primrose Retirement Community of Zanesville as a high-quality, well-appointed, and amenity-rich senior living community with attentive staff and practical resident services (transportation, safety pendants). It appears particularly strong for residents who prioritize spacious accommodations, a newer building, and a lively set of on-site amenities and activities. Prospective residents and families should weigh these advantages against the community's premium pricing — the reviews consistently suggest that the property represents a higher-cost option that may be "great if affordable" but could be "financially impractical" for those on tighter budgets.

Primrose Retirement Community of Zanesville sits on eleven acres and holds several different kinds of living arrangements, so there's something for many needs as people get older, and the community includes eight townhome villas, thirty-six independent living apartments, and thirty-two assisted living apartments, and those townhome villas have two bedrooms, two full baths, an attached garage, and a three-season sunroom, and the independent living apartments come in both one or two-bedroom layouts with different floor plans, while the assisted living apartments come with either one or two bedrooms, a private bath, and a kitchenette, and folks who need day-to-day help can get support with personal care through assisted living services, and if someone needs more serious medical attention, the skilled nursing facility is set up for that right on site. There's also a special area for adults who have Alzheimer's or other types of dementia, which helps keep them safe and supported, and staff are there all day and night, seven days a week, which means someone's always around if help's needed. The campus also has a few nice gathering spots-three dining rooms where people eat together, a 1950s style ice cream parlor that serves Velvet Ice Cream, a pub next to a billiards and game room, a movie theater with a big screen and reclining chairs, a devotional chapel, and a library, so there are places where people can visit with friends or join activities. There's a beauty shop and barbershop, a wellness center with exercise equipment, and on-site counseling and therapy services, and transportation can be scheduled for appointments or outings, and emergency response is set up throughout the campus along with 24/7 nursing staff. Laundry rooms are free and on every floor, and garages are available for residents who drive, and routine maintenance is taken care of-including utilities except for telephone and internet. There are regular activities like book club, bridge, ice cream socials, and special community events and weekly gatherings to keep people social and involved, and the campus aims to provide care that's progressive, meaning you can move from independent living through assisted living and into skilled care if you ever need it, all without leaving the familiar surroundings and people you've come to know. Staff at Primrose Retirement Community of Zanesville focus on care and compassion, trying to make daily life easier and safer for seniors.
