    Family-owned home with excellent care

I placed my loved one in this small, family-owned home (about 20 residents) and have complete peace of mind. The place is bright, spotless and homey - big open kitchen, large living and activities rooms, nice outdoor area, pets and children's visits. Madeline and the long-tenured, well-trained staff are warm, honest and truly understand elders' needs (excellent dementia care, great communication, supportive during mourning) - reliable with top-tier emergency response. It's full and has a waiting list, but I highly recommend it; only minor issues have been occasional lower-quality substitutions in meals.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is strongly positive, emphasizing a small, home-like memory care community with consistently compassionate, skilled staff and engaged, transparent management. Reviewers repeatedly highlight that Roxy Ann Memory Community feels like a home rather than an institutional setting: bright, clean spaces with plenty of natural light, private bedrooms, a large living area and open kitchen where residents gather, and a pleasant outdoor area and activities room. The facility’s small size (around 20 residents) is framed as a strength that promotes intimacy, individualized attention, and strong relationships among residents, families, and staff.

Care quality and staffing emerge as the most prominent strengths. Multiple reviews call the care outstanding, compassionate, and reliable. Caregivers are described as patient, kind, and genuinely caring; staff longevity and family ownership are seen as contributors to continuity and deep knowledge of residents’ needs. Specific notes include expertise in dementia care and a high level of medical responsiveness (one reviewer references “top 1% EMS care”). Families report good communication, that concerns are addressed promptly, and that the community provides emotional support during bereavement and transitions.

Management and leadership receive consistent praise. Reviewers mention an open and honest administrator (Madeline is named in several summaries) and an admin-friendly environment. The leadership tone is described as supportive and transparent, which reinforces trust among families. The family-owned character of the facility and long-tenured staff are repeatedly cited as reasons for peace of mind and confidence in care.

The facility and amenities are frequently noted as clean, well-kept, and welcoming. Reviewers appreciate the absence of odors, clean rooms and clothing, bright communal areas, and a well-kept older building. Specific physical features called out positively include a big open kitchen, a large living area where residents meet, separate bedrooms, a nice outdoor area, and a dedicated activities room. Activities are described as plentiful and engaging — with special mentions of children’s groups and pets visiting — which contributes to a lively, social environment for residents.

Dining and food receive mostly positive remarks (residents are described as well-fed), but there is a recurring, specific caveat: occasional lower-quality substitutions in meals. This appears to be a minor but noted concern among reviewers and could indicate intermittent issues with menu offerings or substitutions that do not meet the usual standard.

The principal limitations reflected in the reviews are the facility’s small capacity and its physical age. Several reviewers note that Roxy Ann is currently full and maintains a waiting list, which may be a barrier for families seeking immediate placement. While the building is described as well-kept, it is referred to as an older facility — acceptable and well-maintained to current residents and families, but potentially a consideration for those prioritizing newer construction or modern amenities.

In summary, Roxy Ann Memory Community is portrayed as an exemplary, small-scale memory care home with strong leadership, experienced and compassionate staff, excellent family communication, and an inviting, well-maintained environment. The community’s strengths — individualized attention, dementia-care expertise, active programming, and emotional support for families — outweigh the relatively minor concerns (intermittent meal substitutions and limited availability). For families seeking a warm, home-like memory care setting with trusted staff and a strong reputation, reviewers consistently recommend Roxy Ann as one of the best options in its area.

    About Roxy Ann Memory Community

Roxy Ann Memory Community sits right in a residential neighborhood with a purpose-built 10,000 square foot building that holds space for just sixteen residents, all in memory care beds, making it feel like a close-knit place where people know each other and you see the same friendly faces every day, and the home-like environment comes through with furnished private and semi-private rooms, a big family room with a large television, a spacious dining area, and outdoor walking paths and gardens where you see companion animals and sometimes even kids visiting, which makes things feel warmer, and you can always find someone around since staff are present 24/7, tending to both the big needs and the small details like laundry, dry cleaning, and regular housekeeping, so residents stay comfortable and clean, and everyone gets help with dressing, bathing, medicine, transfers, and meals, which are made by a skilled chef and served in a way that makes mealtimes welcoming for families too, making sure that those with special diets like allergies or diabetes get meals that work for them.

Roxy Ann Memory Community sets a focus on care for people with Alzheimer's and other dementias, sticking closely to the Eden Alternative philosophy, which basically means they encourage socializing, activity, and a sense of purpose, so you often see a lively activity program going on, including arts and crafts, music, movie nights, physical exercise, outings for ice cream, and visits from friendly dogs and cats, all designed to help people feel engaged and cut down on loneliness or boredom, and even during quieter times, staff make sure everyone feels safe, listened to, and respected, because the goal is to treat every resident with dignity.

The staff is well-trained in memory care and keeps a three-to-four caregiver-to-resident ratio during most active shifts, so everyone gets plenty of attention, and there's ongoing supervision and support day and night, all in a secure but still homey environment, with emergency alert systems and wheelchair access-plus transportation, parking, and care coordination are handled, and there's always someone available to help with even the little things. Every room has a telephone, so families can stay in touch, and you'll see a strong effort to keep family connected and in the loop, with good communication and support, even when it's a difficult time.

Recognized as the only certified Eden Alternative memory care community in Oregon and holding the Alzheimer's Endorsed Memory Community designation, Roxy Ann Memory Community keeps its focus on personalized care, supporting residents as they hold onto memories from their past and find enjoyment each day, and the reviews mention the care and compassion felt by both residents and their families. This community's size, active programs, and the philosophy of well-being for every person shows in the way everyday life is handled, with regular outings, inclusive social events, and spaces inside and out that make it easy for residents to feel at home and safe.
