    Caring staff, but safety concerns

I have mixed feelings about Suncrest. The staff are caring, attentive and often go the extra mile; the Executive Director Jessica Coronado creates a warm, small single-level home that's impeccably clean, well-maintained, with many activities, a pleasant courtyard and generally good food. However, I witnessed serious safety and management issues - medication errors, poor hospital communication, inconsistent follow-through, short-staffing and occasional neglect - that left me uneasy. I'm grateful for the compassionate team but would recommend Suncrest only with close oversight and clear, healthcare-professional-led decision making.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across reviews for Trustwell Living at Suncrest Place is mixed but leans positive in many areas. Repeated strengths include an intimate, small-community feel with a single-level, home-like environment that many families and residents describe as bright, clean, and calming. Numerous reviewers praised attentive, compassionate staff who provide personalized care, go beyond expectations, and create a warm atmosphere. The facility's physical features are frequently highlighted: updated carpeting and appliances, a welcoming dining area, library and TV areas, wifi, and a pleasant outdoor courtyard and garden patio with well-kept landscaping. The small size is often framed as a benefit—better staff-to-resident ratios, more one-on-one attention, familiarity between staff and residents, and a therapeutic atmosphere. The Activity Director and a robust activity program (weekly themes, live music, hair services, barbecues, and other tailored activities) are also commonly praised, as are routine services like medication management, housekeeping, laundry, and linens being included. Executive leadership, specifically Executive Director Jessica Coronado, is mentioned positively in several reviews, and many family members explicitly recommend Suncrest for consistent, compassionate care and even end-of-life support.

However, there is a notable and significant minority of reviews that raise serious concerns, and these contrast sharply with the positive reports. The most alarming issues include reports of medication errors, hospital miscommunication, and at least one narrative claiming severe adverse effects and misrepresentation of a resident to hospital staff. There are also multiple accounts of management instability—an admission canceled on move day tied to changes in management and an expressed inability to accommodate higher levels of care. Staffing shortages are repeatedly mentioned: staff appearing overworked, inconsistent completion of basic tasks (laundry not done, trash not emptied), failed daily checks, and occasional lack of follow-through such as inaccessible call buttons or missed reminders for activities. Some families reported lost personal items and poor accountability. A few reviews go further, alleging verbally abusive behavior by management, neglectful care, and financial mismanagement; these are serious allegations that conflict with many positive reports and should prompt careful investigation by prospective families.

Dining and social stimulation show mixed reviews. Several reviewers praised food quality and an experienced chef, while others described meals as institutional, bland, or in need of improvement. Menu communication problems (lost menus, changes without resident approval) were also reported. Activity programming receives more consistent positive comments—residents are engaged in many on-site activities and appreciate weekly themes and visiting musical groups—but the facility's small size can limit off-site outings (vehicle capacity issues) and some families felt the community might not offer enough social stimulation for residents who desire a larger, busier environment.

Facility and safety considerations are similarly mixed. Positive points include clean, well-maintained interiors, wheelchair accessibility, a secure buzz-in entry, and proximity to emergency services. Conversely, some reviewers noted remodeling elements as cold or even creating difficult-to-operate doors that could be safety hazards. A few accounts raised concerns about wandering incidents and perceived lapses in secure supervision. Financial and operational stability is another concern: reviewers mentioned low occupancy, the facility having stopped accepting Medicaid, and worries about profitability and potential shutdowns—factors that could affect long-term continuity of care.

In summary, Suncrest Place presents a profile of a small, well-kept assisted living community with many families reporting exemplary, compassionate staff, personalized attention, an appealing environment, and strong activity programming. At the same time, there are recurrent and sometimes serious criticisms involving staffing levels, inconsistent operational practices, communication failures, food variability, occasional safety incidents, and troubling allegations regarding management behavior and medication errors. Prospective families should weigh the benefits of a small, intimate setting and the many positive staff-driven anecdotes against the reported risks. Recommended next steps for families considering Suncrest Place include: touring the facility and observing staff-resident interactions; asking directly about staffing ratios, medication administration procedures, and clinical oversight; requesting incident and complaint histories; clarifying admission and higher-acuity policies; verifying financial stability and payment options (including Medicaid status); and checking references from current residents/families. Given the mix of high praise and serious concerns in the reviews, due diligence is especially important to determine whether Suncrest Place is the right fit for a particular resident's care needs and safety requirements.

About Trustwell Living at Suncrest Place

Trustwell Living at Suncrest Place sits in Talent, Oregon, and offers care for seniors in a homelike setting with both assisted living and respite care options, so folks who live here get help with their daily routines like bathing, taking medicines, and moving around, but also have some independence when they want it and don't have to worry about managing everything alone because a registered nurse is on duty around the clock to keep an eye on things and help coordinate care if medical needs come up. Residents choose from studio and one-bedroom apartments with private bedrooms, kitchenettes, and emergency call systems, which is handy if something goes wrong, and those apartments get weekly housekeeping and laundry done for them. There are both single rooms and studio apartments, some of which allow pets, and because the community follows Oregon state rules, you know everything meets the required standards, with 36 or 40 licensed beds available to folks depending on the state's classification.

When people live at Suncrest Place, they get individualized care plans designed for their needs, so nobody takes a one-size-fits-all approach, and there's a full-time registered nurse on hand 24 hours a day to manage things and make sure everyone's care is coordinated. The property is well-kept, with patios and outdoor spaces where residents can visit with family or just enjoy the gardens, shade trees, and walk the sidewalks, and inside there are common areas with fireplaces, a movie room, a piano, and a beauty salon for when you want a haircut or a little pampering without leaving the building. Activities run all week, offering choices like a writing club, morning stretch, music hour, bingo, tai chi, arts and crafts, La Casa Day Spa visits, as well as offsite events-all designed to help people keep their minds and bodies active, meet new friends, and stay social, and for those who want more quiet, there are quiet corners to relax in, too. Residents enjoy meals together in restaurant-style dining areas, and the kitchen tries to make food that suits a lot of tastes, and because the dining rooms are shared, it helps people stay connected with others. Staff are friendly and trained, always present to help but respectful of privacy, helping anyone who needs extra support, whether that's memory care, Alzheimer's care, showering, or getting dressed. Some medical help, like medication administration, is available, and services like aging in place and hospice are options for those who need them.

Safety matters here, so there are emergency call systems, wheelchair accessible showers, and the doors and layout are watched and maintained for ease of use with those extras that make daily life a bit easier, like resident parking, free Wi-Fi, and complimentary transportation for errands or appointments. Community spaces include a game room, a creative studio, a computer room, and a TV lounge, so people always have different places to spend their time, and families find comfort knowing their loved ones have attentive care and a safe, supportive place that also encourages friendships. The community takes care to blend medical help, daily support, and enough activities for seniors to stay active in body and mind, and the atmosphere stays warm, familiar, and comfortable without being overwhelming.
