    Compassionate, clean, attentive home-like care

I chose this community for my mom and am very pleased - the staff are kind, compassionate, and treat residents like family, with attentive management and owners who are present and responsive. The building is stunning, clean and home-like with hotel charm; meals are homemade and varied, activities and therapy are available, and there's an in-house doctor and solid end-of-life support. She's well fed, safe, and genuinely cared for; the team goes above and beyond at a very reasonable cost.

    Summary of reviews

Heritage Manor presents a mixed picture: several families describe a close, home-like setting with engaged owners, compassionate caregivers, and on-site clinical resources, while other accounts raise significant operational concerns. The facility's strengths include a preserved, hotel-like building and private rooms with en-suite bathrooms for residents who prefer single occupancy. Many reviewers praised homemade, varied meals prepared on-site, the availability of daily activities and therapy, and the presence of an in-house physician or medical oversight. For families seeking a smaller, budget-friendly option, the published monthly cost is often cited as reasonable.

Care quality and staffing appear uneven. Numerous reviews highlight warm, attentive staff and management who form strong personal connections with residents, including supportive end-of-life care. At the same time, there are consistent themes of chronic understaffing, high variability between shifts, and calls for retraining or replacement of certain staff members. Operational weaknesses described include inconsistent personal-care routines (including bathing and continence support), delays in responding to resident needs, and lapses in monitoring — for example, limited or absent call-response systems and gaps in documented resident checks. Several accounts point to breakdowns in clinical handoffs and transfer-safety processes, which raise concerns about fall risk and incident follow-up.

Dining and activities receive both positive and critical remarks. While many families praise the homemade food, variety, and owner involvement in cooking, other reviewers report inadequate nutritional monitoring and unintended weight loss in some residents. Therapy and social programming are available and meet needs for some residents, but consistency and oversight of nutritional and therapeutic plans appear uneven.

Facility condition and management responsiveness are areas of divergence. The building and décor are often described as charming and home-like, yet some areas are reported to have cleanliness and odor concerns and possible pest-control issues. Environmental controls have been criticized for being insufficiently cool in some common areas. Management involvement is a clear advantage in many accounts — owners are frequently on-site and approachable — but other families describe difficulty obtaining timely communication or follow-up from leadership. Taken together, the reviews suggest a polarized experience: strong personal relationships and individualized care in some cases, and operational and safety shortfalls in others. Prospective residents and families should prioritize an in-person tour, ask for current staffing ratios, review recent inspection or pest-control records, verify call-response and documentation practices, and request specifics about nutritional and clinical-monitoring protocols before deciding.

    About Heritage Manor Senior Living

Heritage Manor Senior Living sits on Saw Mill Run Blvd in Brentwood and offers assisted living as the main service, but you'll see they also help folks with memory care, nursing care, and independent living if someone needs that along the way, and the building itself feels lively with places like a sunroom, a private dining room for family gatherings, and a communal lounge with a fireplace where people tend to settle for a chat or a quiet break, and you'll spot the in-house movie theater with real seats and popcorn, along with big windows where rooms look out on a landscaped garden, serene walking paths, and outdoor spots like a gazebo and patio that people in wheelchairs and others enjoy just taking in the air. Residents get 24-hour help, supervised by a registered nurse on call if there's an emergency, and the caring professional staff steps in with help for everything from daily routines to medication management, including non-ambulatory care, diabetic support, and incontinence care, which is reassuring for families who can't be there every day. People gather for meals made by a chef, with menus for allergies and diabetic needs, and there's dining all day with a bright community dining room, so there's always something for everyone at their table no matter what their needs. There are housekeeping services and move-in coordination, and all the rooms come ready with private baths, Wi-Fi, cable TV, modern furniture, and big backyard views, aiming to be comfortable and cheerful rather than fancy or overwhelming, something older folks seem to appreciate. The calendar is pretty full with activities like outings, holiday parties, fitness classes, card games, music programs, devotional services, and movie nights, with options to join community-sponsored or even resident-run programs, because people like to stay busy and have something to look forward to, and they also have respite care to give family caregivers a break when they need it. You'll find the place has reliable transportation and parking, so going out or having visitors in is straightforward, and there's a focus on keeping the atmosphere friendly and warm-many people have mentioned the staff by name for their kindness and helpful approach-which you can tell means a lot to the people living there and the families who visit. The facility keeps safety in mind with an emergency alert system, wheelchair accessibility, and 24-hour supervision, which seem more important than any bells and whistles, and when you sum it up, Heritage Manor Senior Living tries to provide affordable all-inclusive care in a place that feels both neighborly and supportive, in a smaller, family-oriented community, where the sense of belonging comes from the daily routines, steady care, and opportunities for connection. The reviews show a mix of experiences and it carries a rating of 3.0 from a small number of reviews, which is something families might consider while looking at different options in the area.
