    Warm family feel, excellent care

I moved my mom here and we've been very happy. Kind, attentive nurses and aides who go above and beyond, excellent physical therapy and rehab, delicious meals, and staff who join and lead engaging activities and outings; office staff are wonderful and family communication is transparent. It's close to home with a warm, family feel-she's well cared for and I highly recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment: The reviews convey a highly positive overall sentiment toward Mulberry Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Commenters consistently describe the move as the "best move for mom," indicating strong satisfaction with the choice of facility. Multiple reviewers highlight that their loved ones were "well taken care of," and several explicitly state they would return or recommend the center, which signals confidence in the facility’s services and outcomes.

Care quality and rehabilitation: Care quality is a dominant theme and is described in explicitly positive terms. Reviewers emphasize strong medical and rehabilitative care, calling the rehab experience "positive." Specific praise is directed at the nurses and nursing aides, who are characterized as "the best," skilled, and respectful. The consistent focus on both general care and rehabilitation suggests the facility performs well across short-term post-acute stays and longer-term custodial care, with families noticing tangible improvements or satisfactory medical support.

Staff behavior and communication: Staff interactions and communication are repeatedly praised. Reviews mention clear, supportive communication from staff and a polite, respectful demeanor from caregivers. Office personnel are singled out as "wonderful," indicating administrative responsiveness and a positive experience dealing with scheduling, billing, or inquiries. The combination of strong clinical staff and effective office staff contributes to an overall sense of coordinated, patient-centered care.

Activities, community, and engagement: Social programming and community engagement emerge as another prominent strength. Reviews describe a "strong community engagement" with "lots of activities and outings," and note that staff are willing to participate in activities alongside residents. This suggests an active social environment that supports resident well-being beyond clinical needs and fosters meaningful staff-resident relationships. Frequent activities and staff involvement likely contribute to the positive impressions families report.

Facilities, dining, and management: The supplied reviews do not provide detailed information about physical facilities, dining quality, or specific management practices beyond the positive references to office staff. There is no direct commentary on room conditions, meal service, or administrative policies, so no definitive conclusions can be drawn in these areas from the available summaries. What is clear is that administrative interactions left a favorable impression for those who mentioned them.

Notable patterns and limitations: Key patterns include uniformly positive remarks about clinical care, nursing/aide skill, staff demeanor, communication, and robust activity programming. Reviewers specifically linking their satisfaction to outcomes (e.g., positive rehab experience, willingness to return) strengthen the reliability of the praise. The primary limitation in analysis is the absence of negative points or critical feedback in the provided summaries. Because no concerns are reported, potential weak spots such as cost, staffing consistency, wait times, meal quality, or facility upkeep are unknown and should not be inferred.

Conclusion: Based on the available review summaries, Mulberry Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center appears to deliver strong clinical and rehabilitative care, supported by respectful, communicative staff and an active social program. Administrative staff are also viewed positively. The reviews reflect high family satisfaction and confidence in the facility’s care. For a fuller assessment, additional information would be needed on areas not covered in these summaries such as dining, room/facility conditions, pricing, and any negative or mixed experiences that did not appear in the provided excerpts.

About Mulberry Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center

Mulberry Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center sits at 616 Golf Course Road in Punxsutawney, PA, and offers a full range of healthcare, rehabilitation, and long-term care for seniors and people recovering from illness or injury, and while it has a 75-bed capacity, the center serves about 46 residents per day, so it's not overcrowded and there are private and semi-private rooms for both living and dining, giving folks space to themselves if they want it. Residents get 24-hour nursing care, skilled nursing when they need it, short-term post-acute and respite care, and rehab programs for things like heart disease and fractures, with therapy services that include physical, occupational, and speech therapies, plus a restorative nursing program, so folks getting out of the hospital or living with complex health problems can get the help they need. There are on-site medical staff and pharmacy services, and the staff works with residents to set up personalized care plans and help with daily things like dressing, bathing, meal preparation, eating, and managing diabetes, with dietary services offering menus with entrees, salads, and desserts to suit different tastes and health needs, and if someone needs help with breathing, respiratory therapy is available too. The facility is part of Bonamour Health Group, managed since November 2024, owned directly by Mordechai and Yeshayahu Zidele, and has a team that includes a director of nursing, Luemma Foster, and administrator Herb Rosshros, along with other experienced nurses, administrators, and therapists-some of whom have been there a long time, which often helps keep a sense of community. Mulberry also works with other Bonamour facilities across Western Pennsylvania, with sister sites in places like Curwensville, Smethport, and Clairton, and each puts a focus on creating a friendly and comfortable environment that feels homelike and welcoming, with daily activities and individualized care programs for each resident. Staffing levels run at 3.46 nurse hours per resident per day, a bit below the state average, and while the team is described as kind and skilled, there's no available data on nurse turnover, but folks might want to ask about that. The center is Medicare-certified and offers both short-term and long-term care, and tours for prospective residents and their families can be scheduled. Inspection reports over the years have found a total of 59 deficiencies, including some related to abuse prevention, pharmacy services, and infection control, all marked as affecting a few people with a lower severity, but these are still important points to consider. Mulberry's goal is to give residents comfort, safety, and support while promoting independence, and while they do strive to provide quality care, it's always smart for families to look into those state inspection reports and ask questions during their tour to decide what's best for their loved one.
