    Compassionate professional care for mom

I placed my mom here and am very happy with the care. The staff are friendly, professional and compassionate - nurses, aides and therapists consistently go above and beyond and therapy noticeably improved her mobility. The facility is very clean, offers 24-hour supervision, clear communication, engaging activities (Kelly runs great socials), and a community-minded, pet-friendly atmosphere. Admissions was quick and helpful, and I feel confident leaving my loved one here.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Embassy of Tunkhannock elicits a mixed but generally positive set of experiences. Many families and residents praise the facility for its compassionate staff, visible therapy capabilities, and active social programming; several accounts describe meaningful functional improvements during rehabilitation stays and point to attentive nursing coverage. At the same time, a number of reviews raise operational concerns that suggest variability in day-to-day performance across shifts and units.

Care and staff: The dominant theme among positive accounts is staff dedication — nurses, CNAs, therapists, and admissions personnel are frequently described as caring, responsive, and proactive. Therapy services (PT/OT/ST) receive consistent praise for helping residents regain mobility and independence, and some families note specialized clinical input and education about diet and conditions. Conversely, reviewers also report variability in staff performance tied to turnover and inconsistent assignments. Commonly expressed concerns include abrupt or insensitive communication from some employees, delays in responding to needs, and uneven familiarity with individual residents’ care plans. A few accounts raise serious issues relating to clinical incidents and outcomes; these are less common but noteworthy and suggest the facility may have gaps in incident response and family follow-up.

Dining and activities: Dining receives mixed feedback. Several reviewers commend generous portions, accommodation of special diets, and examples of well-prepared meals; others describe inconsistent food quality and dissatisfaction with certain meals. The activities program is a clear strength — families reference an engaged activities director, regular social events, exercise, crafts, and encouraged outdoor time in a pleasant courtyard. The social calendar and community-focused events are repeatedly cited as contributors to resident quality of life.

Facilities and environment: The facility features attractive communal areas — a large dining room, spacious lobby, and a well-kept courtyard are frequently noted. Many reviewers describe clean, orderly rooms and grounds; however, there are recurring sanitation concerns and housekeeping inconsistencies reported in other accounts. These concerns include delayed cleaning, odors in some areas, and issues with attending promptly to incontinence needs. Limited space for therapy (a small PT room) and occasional constraints in physical layout are also mentioned.

Management and operations: Admissions and initial transitions are often described as smooth, with helpful social-work and administrative support. The facility’s pandemic response and infection-control measures during COVID receive positive mentions from several families. At the same time, operational weaknesses appear in medication coordination, discharge planning, and property management: reviewers describe mislaid items and confusing discharge instructions. Communication systems — particularly telephone access to staff and timely family updates after incidents — are another recurring theme for improvement. Staffing consistency and oversight are the cross-cutting operational drivers that affect many of these areas.

Notable patterns and guidance for families: If you are considering this facility, weigh the strong rehabilitation services, active activities program, and reports of compassionate nursing against the variability in housekeeping, staff continuity, and occasional lapses in operational follow-through. Many families report excellent, reassuring care and improved outcomes; others experienced serious concerns that prompted escalation. Prospective residents and families may benefit from asking about current staffing stability, specific housekeeping routines, medication/discharge processes, and how the facility communicates with families after clinical events before making a placement decision.

    About Embassy of Tunkhannock

Embassy of Tunkhannock is a skilled nursing facility in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, where staff helps very frail people who depend on nursing care, and the facility also provides short-term rehabilitation for people leaving the hospital and needing help before they go home, so folks usually get a mix of services like physical, speech, and occupational therapy, plus care for breathing, heart problems, wounds, kidney issues, and other complex health needs, and there are specialized units for people with memory problems or diabetes, and the nurses and certified professionals work to help residents get better or live as comfortably as possible. There's a total of 124 certified beds, but the average daily census is about 75 residents, while staff spend around 3.10 nurse hours per resident per day, and some staff speak languages other than English. Three infection-related deficiencies were noted in inspection reports, and the facility has 53 total deficiencies recorded, including some related to safety and care details, and the nurse turnover rate is high at 100%. The place is managed by four individuals as of June 2024, and Embassy of Tunkhannock is connected with Embassy Healthcare, which has its main office in Beachwood, Ohio. There are security measures for residents' funds and a facility-wide assessment helps decide which resources each resident might need, although they don't list their exact amenities or office hours, and sometimes there's not much public information about the place, but they have a Facebook social media presence and are associated with Meta platforms, which is something unique these days. Even with inspections leading to several reported deficiencies, Embassy of Tunkhannock stays focused on providing skilled nursing care, rehabilitation, and various health services, all in an environment meant to feel like home. It covers adult daycare, independent living, assisted living, long-term care, and has programs for memory support, cardiac and orthopedic care, hospice, renal care, nutrition, outpatient therapy, and respite care, making it a place where people can get a broad range of support based on their health needs.
