    Warm staff, modern spotless facility

I toured and moved my mom in and am very satisfied. The staff are warm, attentive, and truly caring-care often begins with a hug and a smile-while the modern, spotless facility, attractive decor, on-site salon/restaurants, pool and therapy options, and connection to nursing care give our family real peace of mind; rooms are spacious with patios and availability is limited, so I'd recommend checking it out.

    Summary of reviews

Shannondale Knoxville presents as a well-appointed, newer community with a broad amenity set and a hospitable, small‑town atmosphere. Commonly cited strengths include spacious, updated apartments with patios or balconies, attractive interior design, an indoor town‑like covered common area, and on-site conveniences such as a coffee shop, salons, restaurants, and rehabilitative services. The campus supports active programming — including an indoor pool, water aerobics, physical therapy, and regular activities — and is dog-friendly with a fenced dog park. The community also offers a care continuum connected to nursing services and a membership/entrance-fee model that can reduce monthly charges for some residents.

Care and staffing elicit mixed impressions. Many families and residents describe compassionate, attentive staff and 24-hour nursing coverage that provides emotional support and day‑to‑day reassurance. However, a pattern of concerns appears around staffing levels and clinical responsiveness: reviewers have described delays in medical attention, issues with fall prevention and clinical decision-making, and uneven care quality at times. Communication and staff conduct are generally praised but are also described as variable; this inconsistency is a key theme affecting family confidence.

Dining and clinical nutrition are another polarized area. Dining presentation and sanitary food-service practices are frequently commended, and the facility maintains on-site dining venues. At the same time, reviewers report inconsistent food quality and some residents' dissatisfaction with meals. The apartment design intentionally limits in-unit cooking (no stoves or cooktops), which requires residents to use common dining venues; this may be viewed as a safety-oriented design choice but also a constraint for residents who prefer independent meal preparation. A few families associated meal acceptability with unintended weight changes for their loved ones.

Facilities and operations are largely described as clean, modern, and well maintained, though a subset of reviewers raised odor concerns in certain common areas and noted some older bathroom fixtures. Security features such as controlled entry and resident call buttons are present, but at least one account referenced missing personal belongings; this surfaces as a property‑security concern that prospective families may want to clarify during a tour. Outdoor space is limited: there is dog play area but few formal walking paths or green‑space trails.

Management and pricing require consideration. The membership/entrance fee model and additional charges for ancillary services (for example, massage) are part of the financial structure; several reviewers noted that overall cost can be higher than comparable options in the area. Tours and admissions staff are often described positively, and the community markets itself as offering graduated care, but availability can be limited in preferred sections.

Overall, Shannondale Knoxville appears to offer strong amenities, a welcoming physical environment, and many examples of compassionate staff and clinical access. At the same time, prospective residents and families should probe operational areas that drew concern: staffing patterns and clinical responsiveness, dining consistency and nutritional monitoring, property‑security procedures, outdoor‑space limitations, and the facility’s pricing/fee structure. Visiting in person, observing meal service, asking about staffing ratios and fall‑prevention protocols, and reviewing the contract for ancillary fees and security measures will help determine fit for an individual’s needs.

    About Shannondale Knoxville

Shannondale Knoxville sits in West Knoxville close to I-40, West Town Mall, and Turkey Creek, so getting around or having visitors come by is pretty easy, and the campus itself is set up with wide green lawns, putting greens, and a scenic park-like atmosphere, with walking paths, big trees, classic streetlights, and a large clock at the entrance that gives it a familiar neighborhood feel. Residents can pick from studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, or even one- and two-bedroom bungalows, villas, and duplexes in the Buckingham neighborhood, and many layouts include open kitchens with breakfast bars, washers and dryers, maintenance, and safety features like handrails and sprinkler systems; some apartments also have private patio or balcony spots looking over the grounds. Each room comes with cable TV, and the living areas are furnished with comfortable couches, accent chairs, and a television, while common spaces include an activity and game room with billiards tables, comfortable seating, and lots of big windows for light and outdoor views, plus an elegant two-story area with a fireplace, decorative railing, and hardwood floors.

Shannondale offers several levels of care: independent living for seniors who are mostly active, assisted living for those who need some daily help, memory care services, skilled nursing, and rehab. There's even a respite care program for families taking care of loved ones at home who need a little break. Residents get support with bathing, dressing, grooming, laundry, toileting, medication help, and personal care from assistants and nurses. Medical services include on-site nurses, occupational therapy, wound care, podiatry, and medication support, with 24-hour nursing help for emergencies. There's a fitness center, a wellness center, a beauty and barber shop, an indoor courtyard with a water fountain, and private dining rooms where three nutritious meals a day get served, prepared with attention to quality and nutrition.

The staff and care team at Shannondale Home, under administrator Angie Schiller, have a reputation for treating residents with warmth, kindness, and patience, always starting care with a smile and sometimes even a hug, and the certified nursing assistants receive special training focused on both emotional and physical support. Social activities, educational programs, spiritual groups, arts and crafts, and health and wellness programs fill up the daily calendar, and there's wi-fi throughout the building to keep folks connected. Transportation can be scheduled for errands or outings, and guest parking is available. Housekeeping, personal laundry, and room maintenance are provided, so chores don't pile up. Residents and families can view floor plans, photos, and even take live video tours to see the spaces before moving in.

Room options include private rooms that run $7,500 to $9,500 per month or semi-private rooms from $6,500 to $8,500 per month, reflecting the level of care and services included. Shannondale Knoxville has earned recognition for its unique approach to care, keeping residents involved and active with a variety of programs and keeping their environment secure and pleasant, and it has won the Best of Senior Living Award for its care and support. Meals, social and fitness activities, and comfortable, modern spaces are all part of the amenities and the community tries to make life as easy as possible for every resident, whether they're there for independent living, assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing care.
