    Compassionate attentive care and rehab

I'm very pleased with the care my grandmother received - compassionate, attentive nurses, CNAs and therapists who got great rehab results, clear communication, clean comfortable rooms and a warm, family-like atmosphere. The small, hands-on team (Kelley, Jessica, Brandon, Kelly, Whitney) made the move easy, hospice and nursing needs were handled thoroughly, and meals and activities kept her engaged. I would choose this facility again and recommend it to others.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Fairpark Health and Rehabilitation is characterized by a strong caregiving culture and a small, family-like environment. Many families and residents praise the compassion and attentiveness of nurses, CNAs and therapists, and cite successful rehabilitative outcomes and supportive hospice and end-of-life services. The facility’s hands-on leadership, positive CMS quality rating, and focused admissions support are further strengths that help families through transitions.

Care and clinical services: Reviewers commonly describe engaged nursing and clinical teams who provide regular nurse visits, responsive clinical oversight, and proactive rehabilitation services. Physical and occupational therapy are frequently noted as effective, with several accounts of residents regaining function and being discharged home. Hospice involvement and thorough end-of-life care were highlighted as areas of clinical competence and family communication, including pressure-injury prevention and timely pain management in many cases.

Staff and communication: Staff compassion, individualized attention, and a welcoming culture are prominent positives. Admissions and administrative staff are repeatedly praised for easing transitions. At the same time, a recurring operational pattern includes inconsistent staffing levels and turnover that can drive delays in responding to call lights and toileting needs. Some families described variability in staff professionalism and transparency from management; there are a small number of allegations of retaliatory behavior and communication gaps that have undermined trust in particular instances.

Dining and activities: Dining receives generally favorable feedback for flavorful, nutritious meals and occasional special events; some reviewers credit meal quality with improved appetite and weight gain. Activity programming and opportunities for socialization are frequently described as engaging and supportive of residents’ physical and emotional well‑being. However, reviewers also describe variability in meal-service consistency and occasional tray errors, indicating room for operational improvement.

Facilities and operations: Many reviewers find the facility clean, well maintained and homelike; others identify variability tied to an older building footprint and maintenance differences between areas. A few reviewers raise sanitation and odor concerns, and there are isolated pest‑control concerns and notes about limited on‑site lab capacity for certain diagnostic tests. These operational issues align with reports of inconsistent housekeeping or infrastructure needs in parts of the building.

Notable patterns and decision factors: Prospective residents and families should weigh the facility’s strong, compassionate clinical and rehabilitative strengths, small scale, and supportive leadership against operational variability in staffing, responsiveness, and some facility maintenance areas. Those prioritizing intensive therapy, hospice support, or a family-oriented environment are likely to find Fairpark a good fit; families for whom continuous high staffing ratios, absolute consistency in housekeeping and meal service, or extensive on-site diagnostics are critical may want to confirm current operational metrics and recent corrective actions during a visit and in conversation with leadership.

    About Fairpark Health and Rehabilitation

Fairpark Health and Rehabilitation sits at 307 North 5th Street in Maryville, TN, close to the Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, Knoxville, and the University of Tennessee, and it's a place where people find nursing care, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, assisted living, and memory care under one roof, with 75 Medicare certified beds and private rooms available for residents along with licensed beds and in-house staff who handle everything themselves without using outside agencies, and it's been managed by the same steady hand for almost 30 years which says something about how they run things. The facility's got rooms with private bathrooms, air conditioning, cable TV, washers and dryers, housekeeping, kitchenettes, safety features, and a sprinkler system, plus the convenience of linen services and maintenance so no one has to worry about everyday chores piling up. There's a salon and barbershop onsite for haircuts and grooming and a property full of useful things like a game room, comfortable dining room, WiFi and internet, guest parking, fitness center, and several shared areas, and there's a small library, computer center, and garden with outdoor space to get some fresh air or a quiet moment away from the main building. The staff help residents with walking, wheelchairs, bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, and they support seniors during daily activities including meals, medication management, and personal care, and there's always someone to call for help with the 24-hour call system and supervision, not to mention a steady nursing presence that ranges from 12 to 16 hours each day. Transportation services cover both medical and personal needs, so people living there can see doctors, go on errands, or join community outings, with the transportation arranged for them, and there's a dining program with meal preparation, restaurant-style dining, and meals that match special diets, like for diabetes, so everyone can eat safely and comfortably. Medical and healthcare services stay front and center, with nurses, wound care, podiatry, medication support, therapy services including occupational therapy, and a focus on rehabilitation and all-around health, so residents who need recovery or ongoing health support have what they need. Long-term care insurance is accepted, and staff also offer respite care for those times when a primary caregiver needs a break, which gives people a safe place for short-term stays. People living here can join many social and recreational activities, like arts and crafts, community activities, education programs, and day trips; there's also a wellness center and support for resident-run or scheduled group activities every day, and the staff emphasize respect, compassion, recovery, and fostering independence wherever possible, always supporting each senior with attention to their own choices and medical needs. The facility carries a family-oriented feel, aiming to create a home-like environment with careful oversight and personal touch, while sticking close to a goal of comfort, quality care, and well-being during either short rehabilitation stays or long-term care.
