    Caring staff and beautiful community

I placed my mom here and she lived about four years - the staff were consistently caring, responsive and knowledgeable, and the nurses and attendants provided first-class care. The community is beautiful, clean and well-kept with private baths, nicely sized rooms you can personalize, great dining and a full calendar of activities, outings and worship services. Overall I had a very positive experience and would encourage anyone in the area to visit.

    Summary of reviews

Morningside at Menger Springs — Cibolo House presents as a well-kept, attractive senior campus with multiple levels of care and numerous on-site amenities. Positive impressions focus on the facility’s appearance (bright hallways, a pleasant dining room, attractive grounds), private in-room baths, and the ability to personalize apartments. The campus model (independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing) and on-site offerings such as a chapel, on-site kitchen for events, entertainment, and scheduled transportation provide a full-service environment that many families find convenient and community-oriented.

Staffing and day-to-day care receive mixed but specific feedback. Many comments praise friendly, responsive caregivers and attentive nursing staff; reviewers highlight an engaged activities director, quick response to calls, and a generally warm, home-like atmosphere. At the same time, there are recurring operational concerns: frequent staff and management turnover, a notable reliance on agency LVNs, and gaps in medication-management and documentation processes. These issues have been associated with inconsistent adherence to individualized care plans and occasional medication or documentation errors, which families should monitor closely when evaluating quality of care.

Housekeeping, personal-care routines, and dining are areas of variability. Several accounts indicate that housekeeping can be light or inconsistent (for example, trash removal and room cleaning follow-through), and bathing/personal care schedules may not always be reliably met. Dining impressions are mixed as well: some describe the food as very good or excellent, while others characterize it as institutional even if acceptable. The activity program is consistently described as a strength — offerings include game days, singers and dancers, arts classes, exercise, outings to nearby towns, and holiday family events — though families considering memory care should note reports that communal memory-care space is comparatively small.

Overall, the facility is frequently praised for its physical environment, comprehensive campus resources, and many members of the caregiving and nursing teams. Significant patterns of concern center on operational consistency: staffing stability, the use of agency personnel, medication and documentation controls, and housekeeping reliability. Cost is also a recurrent consideration: several comments describe the community as expensive or less affordable. Prospective residents and families would benefit from direct, current inquiries about staffing patterns, medication-safety protocols, housekeeping schedules, and how individualized care plans are audited and enforced before making placement decisions.
