    Caring, clean facility; excellent services

I'm very pleased with Lubbbock Hospiality Nursing & Rehab. The staff - nurses, therapy, dining and cleaning teams - are caring, professional and treat residents like family; Administrator Andrew, the DON and social worker went out of their way to help. The facility is clean and home-like, with strong rehab/therapy (onsite dialysis available), good food, engaging activities (weekly dog visits, IN2L), regular provider rounds and clear family communication - my sister was happy and well cared for, and I would recommend them.

    Summary of reviews

This facility elicits strongly mixed responses: many reviewers describe genuinely caring staff, a strong therapy program, and hospitality-oriented features, while others raise substantive concerns about consistency of clinical care, housekeeping, and management stability.

Care quality is a central theme. Positive accounts emphasize attentive nursing, effective rehabilitation services, on-site dialysis, regular provider rounds, and coordinated specialty visits. Therapy teams and rehabilitation outcomes are frequently cited as strengths. Conversely, reviewers describe delays in diagnostics and treatments, medication-administration issues, and instances where prescribed respiratory or wound-care interventions were not promptly delivered. Those patterns suggest variability in clinical processes and handoff reliability rather than uniformly poor capability.

Staff behavior and staffing patterns present a mixed picture. Numerous comments praise individual nurses, aides, and administrators for warmth, professionalism, and family communication. At the same time, high turnover, limited staffing levels, and variable training—particularly among medication aides—are recurring operational weaknesses. These staffing challenges correlate with reports of delayed responses to call alarms, inconsistent assistance with activities of daily living, and occasional communication-timing problems with families.

Dining and activities are described both positively and negatively. The facility offers hospitality-style service, room-service responsiveness, scheduled activities, technology-based engagement (IN2L), and pet therapy programs that families and residents value. Yet other reviewers describe repetitive menus or inconsistent meal quality, indicating that dining experience may vary by unit or shift.

Facility condition and housekeeping show improvement in some areas (new flooring, bright corridors, clean public spaces) but also notable inconsistencies. Concerns include uneven room cleaning and sanitization, linen and towel management problems, odor concerns in some areas, accessibility issues at external entrances, and variable in-room amenities. These discrepancies point to uneven housekeeping protocols and maintenance follow-through.

Management and administrative patterns are similarly mixed. Several families highlight helpful administrators, an engaged DON, and a responsive social-work team, while others cite frequent leadership changes and gaps in complaint resolution. There are also serious individual-level allegations—including concerns about personal-item management—that merit direct inquiry by prospective families and, where appropriate, reporting to oversight bodies.

Notable patterns: strengths concentrate around rehabilitation, hospitality-oriented services, and visible, caring staff members. Weaknesses cluster around inconsistent staffing, variable clinical reliability, housekeeping and sanitation lapses, and management turnover. Prospective residents and families should tour the facility, observe staff responsiveness and cleanliness on multiple units and shifts, ask about current staffing ratios and turnover, clarify medication-administration and wound-care protocols, and verify policies for personal-item security and complaint escalation before making a placement decision.

About Lubbock Hospitality Nursing & Rehab

Lubbock Hospitality Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is a skilled nursing facility that provides care for people with serious medical needs, including those who need dialysis and complex treatments, and it accepts both Medicare and Medicaid. It's a for-profit community and part of Genesis HealthCare, so it follows national standards and has recently been renovated with new paint and floors throughout. People staying here can choose between private or semi-private rooms, and the rooms come furnished with things like cable TV, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, private bathrooms, and kitchenettes, and if someone needs help moving in, staff can coordinate that too. Staff are known for being friendly, well-trained, and ready to help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, medication management, and transfers, and there's a 24-hour call system, with 12-16 hour nursing support and full-day supervision for safety and peace of mind.

The Center offers short-term rehab, long-term care, respite care, memory care for those with Alzheimer's, behavioral and hospice care, orthopedic rehab, and wound care, plus support for bariatric patients, which is rare in some places, and they use up-to-date medical practices to help people recover or maintain well-being. Rehabilitation services aim to help people regain independence, and a social worker helps with discharge and planning. Care is patient-centered-plans get tailored to each person, and residents and families can share concerns through both resident and family councils.

People can eat in a dining room with all-day dining, and staff serve meals restaurant-style with options for special diets due to allergies or diabetes. Housekeepers and laundry staff keep personal spaces tidy, and concierge staff help answer questions and arrange appointments. For comfort, there are common areas like a movie theater, arts and crafts room, library, game room, fitness room, spas and saunas, and even outdoor spaces like walking paths and gardens where residents can relax or join scheduled activities, from movie nights and music to educational programs and games. Programs also help people stay fit and social, and there's always something going on sponsored by the community.

Parking and transportation services make visits and errands easier for residents and their families. Security and accessibility are important, so the facility is designed with a calm atmosphere, easy-to-navigate spaces, and a quiet setting for conversation or leisure. The staff try to help people feel at home, giving opportunities to personalize rooms and join in daily life while supporting independence at every step. It's recognized as a "Great Place to Work," which says a lot about the workplace culture and the care staff give to the residents. The leadership's experienced, the nursing team is dedicated, and the staff focus on keeping everyone safe and comfortable while fostering dignity, belonging, and quality of life. There's always useful information to help families make decisions and staff who answer questions as they come up, so people can feel included and confident about their loved one's care.
