    Spacious, friendly community with amenities

I live here and would highly recommend it. It genuinely feels like home - spacious, well-appointed apartments (studios to 1- and 2-beds, some with patios), a bright, roomy dining area with excellent food, and a resort-like vibe (live music, ice cream parlor, pool, gym, theater and lots of activities). The staff are the highlight - kind, upbeat, professional and attentive across departments; residents seem very happy and well cared for. The community is clean, centrally located, and lively, though the building is older and still being renovated so it's not always shiny-new. One caution: ask detailed questions about contracts, deposits, waitlists and independent vs. assisted services - a few people reported communication or billing/maintenance problems. Overall, great atmosphere, amenities and compassionate staff.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews of Sterling Court - An Elegant Assisted Living Community is strongly positive, with many reviewers emphasizing the facility’s warm, resort-like atmosphere, extensive amenities, and consistently praised staff. Multiple reviewers described the property as elegant, bright, and clean with attractive common areas (large dining room, grand piano, artwork, comfortable gathering spaces and a big staircase). The physical environment is frequently compared to upscale hotels (Embassy Suites/Disneyland vibe), and residents and visitors repeatedly highlight the resort-style amenities such as an ice cream/sweet shop, salon, movie theater, billiards and poker rooms, indoor pool and well-equipped exercise rooms. Many reviewers stated that the grounds are well maintained and that the dining areas are spacious and comfortable.

Staff and care receive some of the strongest positive commentary. Numerous reviews call out friendly, caring, personable staff across departments—nursing, servers, housekeeping, and administrative teams—and several single out particular leaders or marketing staff for exceptional service. Families and new residents described smooth move-ins, thorough communication during transitions, and quick responsiveness to routine needs such as meds and prepared take-away meals. Several reviews explicitly referenced the presence of clinical staff (CNAs, RNs) and praised the staff‑to‑resident ratio and observed staff morale. Long-term residents and families repeatedly said their relatives are happy and well cared for, and many reviewers offered strong recommendations.

Dining and activities are recurring strengths in the reviews. The food is commonly described as very good, with fresh meals, balanced menus and many meal options. Reviewers noted flexible dining hours, a la carte choices, and additional on-site food venues (soda shop, sweet shop, ice cream) that enhance the dining experience. Activities are abundant — live entertainment, themed events (Luau/Polynesian cultural programming), speakers, exercise classes, and frequent social opportunities — creating an active community life. Facilities supporting these activities (theaters, hobby rooms, piano, performance spaces) are well regarded and frequently mentioned as major positive contributors to resident satisfaction.

However, the reviews are not uniformly positive, and several substantive concerns recur and deserve attention. There are multiple reports of communication breakdowns among staff, maintenance delays, and front desk unresponsiveness. A particularly serious complaint described a carbon monoxide alarm event that reviewers say was ignored, causing loud prolonged beeping and resident disruption; this was raised as a safety concern. There are also troubling reports of financial or contract disputes: reviewers reported checks being cashed the same day, deposits held with delayed refunds, and at least one allegation of an abrupt eviction and disputed claims about the level of care provided. These serious operational and contractual problems, though mentioned by fewer reviewers than the positive points, are significant because they pertain to resident safety and financial fairness.

Another consistent theme is the facility’s scope of care. Several reviewers noted that Sterling Court is not a full continuing care retirement community; it has limits on medical services (for example, cannot provide IV drips or certain skilled nursing treatments). Prospective residents should be aware of those boundaries if they require more advanced medical or skilled nursing services. Other smaller negatives mentioned repeatedly include parking congestion at the main entrance (with staff sometimes occupying visitor spots), occasional odors near entrances, small bathrooms or kitchens in some apartment types, and ongoing renovations making parts of the building feel less new.

In summary, the dominant picture from the reviews is of a well-appointed, amenity-rich assisted living community with many satisfied long-term residents, outstanding dining and activity programs, and staff who are often described as warm, caring and highly responsive. At the same time, reviewers raise important caveats about occasional operational shortcomings (communication gaps, maintenance latency), serious single-incident safety allegations, and problematic financial/contract interactions reported by a minority of families. Prospective residents and families should balance the overwhelmingly positive reports of daily life, activities and staff compassion with careful investigation into contract terms, emergency procedures and the facility’s limits on medical care. Recommended steps for tour guests would include asking specific questions about emergency alarm procedures and responses, contract and refund policies, scope of medical services, parking availability, and recent maintenance or safety incident resolutions, and to verify promised inclusions (e.g., complimentary lunches) during the visit.
