    Neat couple-owned home, compassionate care

I had an informative tour and left impressed by the neat, couple-owned home, large master with private bath, and lovely grounds. Marcella and Sam were responsive, professional, and compassionate; medications, nurse visits, and communication were handled reliably. Meals were enjoyable, residents can bring their own furniture, and the staff created a warm, family-like atmosphere-a comforting place I'd recommend for a parent's last days.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews describe a small, couple-owned adult family home that produces polarized experiences. On the positive side, several families emphasized warm, compassionate, family-like caregiving, with named caregivers (Marcela/Marcella and Sam) repeatedly identified for attentive assistance and strong communication. The home includes a large private master suite with an ensuite bathroom, allows residents to bring personal furniture, and sits on well-kept grounds. Nighttime staffing and a night alarm system were cited as safety features, and the facility appears able to coordinate with visiting medical professionals and nursing assessments. Multiple accounts highlight prompt owner/management updates to families and deliberate end-of-life comfort care for residents.

Care and staffing descriptions are mixed. Many reviewers praised hands-on, gentle assistance and clear medication handling by specific caregivers; others described times when only one caregiver was present, caregiver compatibility was poor, or the owner was rarely on-site. Several comments point to relatively high staff turnover and concerns about payroll or staff compensation practices, which reviewers tied to variability in day-to-day coverage. Prospective families should expect that individual caregiver relationships and the consistent presence of particular staff can meaningfully affect a resident’s experience.

Dining and daily life received divergent assessments. Some families enjoyed homestyle menus and praised meals, while others described pre-packaged or inconsistent food quality. Activity offerings also varied in perception: the setting can be quiet and family-oriented, but some reviewers noted limited structured programming and a sense of solitude for residents in a larger community. Families seeking an active, activity-rich environment may wish to ask about scheduled social programming, outing frequency, and how residents are engaged during the day.

Facility features are largely positive in terms of private living space and outdoor areas, but operational and organizational concerns recur. Multiple reviewers raised cleanliness and sanitation inconsistencies; others described document-management problems and disorganized administrative practices. Safety-device placement and visibility (for example, call buttons) were not uniformly observed on tours, which led some families to express safety concerns despite reports of nighttime alarms and staff presence. There are also comments about cultural tone and owner demeanor—some families experienced warm responsiveness, while others characterized interactions as transactional or unwelcoming. This suggests that leadership style and staff–family communications can vary by interaction or by timing.

Overall pattern and guidance: the facility shows clear strengths in individualized, comfort-focused caregiving, private suite accommodations, and family communication when particular caregivers and management are involved. At the same time, patterns of inconsistent food preparation, staffing stability, cleanliness, organizational controls, and variability in staff–family tone appear across reviews. For prospective residents and families, recommended topics to address during a tour include: current staffing ratios and backup coverage, payroll/staff-retention practices, daily activity schedules, sample menus and food-preparation methods, cleaning schedules and sanitation protocols, exact locations of call buttons or safety devices, and how documentation and family communications are managed. Meeting the regular day and night caregivers before move-in and requesting references from current families can also help assess day-to-day fit.

About A+ Meridian Villa Estates Adult Family Home

A+ Meridian Villa Estates Adult Family Home sits in Kent, WA, surrounded by big evergreen trees, fruit trees, and flowers, which gives the place a calm and homey feel, and people say you can just sit by the window or in the garden and watch the seasons go by with other residents or cats and little dogs running about. The owners, Marcela & Samuel Cusmir, have run this home for over 11 years, keeping the license in good standing with semi-annual reviews, and you'll see they take care to give each resident an easy, peaceful daily life whether you need help just now and then or every day, because the home supports aging in place with levels of care such as independent living, assisted living, memory care, board and care, respite for temporary stays, and even hospice care if that becomes needed, and people may come and go for short visits or stay long-term, depending on what works best for them and their families.

There are six beds, so it's never crowded, and rooms include private, semi-private, and a studio, and one of these is a master room for two, paired with a private bathroom, making it easier for couples or friends to stay together, and no matter the choice, there are wheelchair-accessible showers, and a no smoking policy inside the house or common rooms. The home welcomes both men and women, and pets can join too, so folks don't have to leave their animals behind, and there's space for resident parking if people want to have visitors. Visiting hours run from 9:00am to 8:00pm, so families can come by more often.

Care services cover daily living help, like getting dressed, bathing, medicine management, and nurses, therapists, a podiatrist, doctor, dentist, and a nurse on call if someone takes ill or gets hurt. For people with Parkinson's or dementia, like Alzheimer's, the specialized caregivers offer personal routines, memory support, and bathroom reminders, with extra focus on safety and comfort. There's 24-hour emergency response and all-day caregiver support, so people don't have to wait long if they need help, and staff offer both physical and speech therapy as part of rehab or home health care, depending on doctor recommendations.

Meals come prepared from a kitchen with menus designed for dementia care, plus a dietitian helps with meals for special diets, vegetarian options, and even kosher needs, and there's a private dining room for special family meals or smaller groups. Residents can also eat in the café, or use the communal kitchen for simple snacks, and staff offer bathroom reminders for residents who need them. The beauty shop and barber services happen onsite for easy personal care, and scheduled chapel and devotional services meet spiritual needs both at home and with trips elsewhere, so people can keep up with their faith and peace of mind. The arts and crafts program is a regular thing, and there are indoor and outdoor areas where folks can relax, talk, or enjoy activities. Walking trails and a greenhouse get people outside when the weather is good, and the wifi throughout the house means people can keep in touch with family or hobbies.

Transportation to appointments and outings is included, and people get help making and keeping appointments if needed, as families are encouraged to visit and keep up strong connections. Meridian Villa Estates doesn't take Medicare unless certified, and admits King County seniors who need care, mental health support, or have developmental disabilities, so the home aims to cover a broad range of needs, always working toward independence, comfort, and simple living for each person who walks through the door, without trying to act perfect.
