    Friendly, knowledgeable staff and resort-like

I live at Parkshore and am very pleased with the friendly, knowledgeable staff and warm, inclusive community. The rehab/PT team was exceptional - I made rapid progress with attentive, professional care. There are abundant activities and committees, yet plenty of freedom to be busy or relax and make my own choices. The lakefront location and stunning views, plus nearby shops and a planned pool, give it a resort-like feel. Michelle and Janis were especially attentive during my transition - nothing was overlooked, and I highly recommend Parkshore.

    Summary of reviews

Parkshore Senior Living Community presents as an upscale, waterfront senior living option that has recently undergone substantial repositioning. The facility’s location on Lake Washington, renovated apartments and common areas, and resort-like amenities — including a robust fitness center and a planned pool — are consistent strengths. Many reviewers emphasize the scenic views, proximity to parks and town services, and the walkable neighborhood as important lifestyle benefits.

Clinical and care services show a mixed but generally positive pattern. Parkshore is consistently praised for its rehabilitation capabilities: physical, occupational, and speech therapy teams receive strong commendations for helping residents achieve measurable improvements and timely discharges from rehab. For residents seeking short-term rehab or post-operative recovery, the therapy program and attentive bedside care are recurring strengths. At the same time, there are substantive concerns about consistency in skilled-nursing care for higher-acuity residents. Several reviews describe inadequate wound management, limited therapy access for very complex cases, and responsiveness shortfalls; these items suggest gaps in protocols or staffing for residents with advanced clinical needs.

Staffing and leadership are a notable dual theme. Many reviewers describe frontline caregivers, nurses, and therapists as warm, engaged, and effective, and multiple comments single out the executive director and management-level staff for strong leadership. Conversely, the facility has undergone staff and leadership changes during its repositioning, and that transition has generated anxiety among residents and families. Communication challenges appear in several operational areas: family–staff care coordination, telephone responsiveness, and billing explanations have all been identified as needing improvement.

Lifestyle, dining and activities are clear strengths. Reviewers highlight gourmet dining, varied programming, lively committees, volunteer opportunities (thrift store, auctions), and a social, first-name culture that supports active engagement. The community atmosphere — shared meals, fitness classes, theater and social events — is frequently described as welcoming and inclusive. Physical environment upgrades contribute to a resort-like experience for many residents, though some critiques note that skilled-nursing rooms can feel less updated or impersonal compared with the rest of the property.

Operational issues to weigh include construction-related disruption from ongoing renovations, limited visitor parking, restrictive admissions/access rules at times, and a growing waitlist driven by high demand. Cost is another consideration: reviewers frame pricing as premium, and some feel that certain aspects of skilled-nursing accommodations do not fully match that premium level. There are also administrative friction points — billing clarity and phone-system responsiveness — that prospective residents and families should clarify during touring and contracting.

In summary, Parkshore is positioned as a high-amenity, rehab-capable senior living community with strong social programming and many satisfied residents who value the location, dining, and therapy outcomes. Prospective residents with rehabilitation or moderate care needs are likely to benefit from the facility’s strengths. Families considering long-term, high-acuity skilled nursing should probe clinical staffing, wound-care protocols, and communication practices during their evaluation, and ask specific questions about parking, construction timelines, billing transparency, and current waitlist status before making a placement decision.

    About Parkshore Senior Living Community

Parkshore Senior Living Community sits right on the shores of Lake Washington, offering a 180-degree view of the water and mountains, and it's in Madison Park so restaurants, coffee shops, and walking areas are nearby, which makes outings pretty easy if you're up for them, and you'll notice the lakeside tower gives a real sense of calm when you look out from the spacious apartments, so you've got your privacy and dignity in rooms that can have full kitchens, kitchenettes, showers, wheelchair accessibility, private dining rooms, and even cable TV and internet, and you can pick from apartments made for independent living, assisted living, memory support, or skilled nursing. The community's got only 28 beds, which helps keep things a bit quieter and lets staff focus more on each person, whether that's help with transfers, bathing, getting dressed, or handing out medicine, and nurses are there around the clock and you can use the call system whenever you need help. The gym on the skilled floor and the fitness center with lots of equipment make it easier for folks getting rehab or outpatient treatment to keep moving, and you'll find a pool, spa, walking paths, a garden to sit in, an outdoor patio, and even a dock if you want to take out your kayak, so there's something for people who like to stay active or just want to spend time outside. There are daily activities and social events like movie nights, community-sponsored programs, and even counseling so people don't feel left out, and dogs and cats are welcome if you have them. There's a large dining room for restaurant-style meals, cooked by professional chefs with plenty of options and dietary accommodations, and if you'd rather eat in your room, there's room service. For self-care, there's a barber and salon, with help for grooming, and housekeeping and laundry are available so you don't have to fuss with chores. Transportation and parking are included, making it easier to get to appointments or run errands, and security, high-speed internet, and on-site medical staff mean you're not left on your own if something comes up. Parkshore's a non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), connected to the Presbyterian Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, and it follows strict guidelines for care, supporting seniors at every stage, with memory care for those with dementia, help for daily tasks through assisted living, and both home health and hospice services as part of its program, so you can move through different levels of care as your needs change. Residents can join in a wide range of social, physical, and mental activities every day, which helps people stay engaged and adds a sense of community, and the setting, with both city access and the water's edge, is rare for a place that also has skilled nursing, memory care, and rehabilitation services, so you get plenty of medical and personal support without giving up the things you enjoy or your connection to the outside world.
