    Clean home-like facility, caring staff

My grandfather is doing great here - the facility is clean and home-like, with homemade meals and plenty of activities to keep him engaged. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and competent; they genuinely cared for him, accommodated his needs, and supported us through a difficult transition, so I'm very pleased with his care.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment from the provided review summaries is strongly positive. Multiple reviewers emphasize the quality of personal care and the emotional support provided to residents. Comments repeatedly call out staff as caring, genuinely interested, and responsive to individual needs, creating a sense that residents are not only safe but emotionally supported. One reviewer specifically noted that staff accommodated needs and offered support during a difficult transition, which suggests an ability to manage sensitive periods such as move-ins or health changes.

Care quality and staff performance are the dominant themes. Reviewers use words like caring, competent, knowledgeable, and friendly to describe employees. The repeated mention of staff accommodating needs and residents feeling loved indicates consistent, person-centered care practices. These comments imply effective training and a staff culture focused on resident dignity and comfort. The specific anecdote that a family member’s grandfather is "doing great" offers a concrete example of positive outcomes and satisfaction with daily care.

Facility-related impressions are also favorable. Reviews describe the building and environment as clean and homelike, which supports a comfortable living experience. Dining is mentioned positively, with references to homemade food — a detail that suggests meals are prepared on-site or made to feel home-like rather than institutional. Activities are noted as available, contributing to engagement and quality of life rather than passive supervision alone.

Management and organizational implications can be inferred from the positive staff-related comments. Consistent descriptors such as competent and knowledgeable suggest stable staffing, effective training, and supervisory practices that promote good care. The supportive approach during transitions points to coordination and responsiveness from staff and leadership. That said, these inferences are based on positive anecdotes rather than explicit statements about management structure, staffing levels, or clinical oversight.

Notable patterns and limitations: the sample of review summaries provided is uniformly positive and focuses on interpersonal care, cleanliness, dining, and activities. There are no explicit negative remarks or specific service gaps mentioned in these summaries. Because the dataset is small and unvaried, the absence of criticisms should be interpreted cautiously; it could reflect genuinely high satisfaction or simply a limited selection of favorable comments. Important operational details that are not covered in the summaries include clinical skill levels for higher-acuity care, staffing ratios, medication management practices, safety and emergency procedures, pricing and contract terms, and visitation or family-communication policies.

For prospective residents and families, the reviews suggest Lakewood Assisted Living offers a warm, clean, and well-staffed environment with homemade meals and activities that contribute to a homelike atmosphere and positive resident outcomes. At the same time, because the available feedback is narrowly focused on positive experiences, it would be prudent to verify specifics through a tour and direct questions about clinical services, staffing levels, emergency protocols, and any specialized care needs to ensure the facility matches the prospective resident’s full range of needs.

    About Lakewood Assisted Living

Lakewood Assisted Living sits in a remodeled Best Western Motel with a single-story cottage-like feel, offering twenty fully furnished deluxe studios and one-bedroom suites, each with private full bathrooms that're suitable for individuals or couples, and you can even bring your cat or dog along, which is always nice for those who love pets, and the rooms have wheelchair accessible showers, full bathtubs, and easy entries for folks who have trouble walking, while resident parking and transportation are available for a fee. The community provides assisted living, board and care home services, and memory care for folks with Alzheimer's or dementia, and those rooms are in a secured setting with 24-hour awake staff and an emergency call and alert system, so residents always have help close by for things like bathing, transferring with mechanical lifts, medication management, non-ambulatory care, diabetic assistance, and incontinence management, and, if a resident needs hospice or respite care, staff can help with that too, so folks can stay as their care needs change.

Meals here get cooked fresh and served in a dining room with flexible mealtimes, with attention to special diets like kosher, vegetarian, diabetes, or allergies, and residents can walk out to a large deck in the summertime or sit by the big fireplace in the Great Room to relax or chat. Folks find a good mix of indoor and outdoor common areas, including walking paths and gardens, so they get plenty of fresh air and space to meet with friends or join community-sponsored activities like movie nights, art in the arts room, and devotional activities both at Lakewood and out and about, which helps keep spirits up and minds sharp. Housekeepers come by to keep apartments tidy, do laundry and dry cleaning, and beautician and barber services help everyone feel comfortable and taken care of, so you don't have to fuss about daily chores.

Lakewood charges a monthly rent for assisted living studios starting at about $2,900, with semi-private and private options going up to $3,500 per month, and there's a community fee, respite fee, and a fee for a second person, which is pretty common for places like this. The team here gets trained in dementia care, medication management, fire safety, and first aid, and the goal's always to offer a secure environment where residents, especially those with memory problems, stay safe, supported, and involved, with a steady schedule of programs and social events, so everyone can enjoy their days however they like; it's the kind of place where you hear the birds outside your window and can look out at some greenery, feeling like you belong to a small, caring community. The owner, Briana Abel, keeps a close eye on quality of life, and there's a photo gallery so future residents and families can have a look, but what stands out most are the efforts to treat each person with dignity and to help celebrate everyday moments with good meals, warm common rooms, and loving care that's always close by.
