    Spacious apartment friendly staff secure

I moved in recently and it was the right decision. My beautiful, spacious apartment with great views feels like home - the building is clean, secure with underground parking, and has lovely dining and outdoor spaces. The staff are warm, professional, and incredibly helpful, residents are friendly, and activities keep things engaging, so I've made many new friends and my family has peace of mind. Very pleased and would highly recommend.

    Summary of reviews

St. Rita Square receives consistent praise for its physical plant and lifestyle amenities. Reviewers described attractive, often spacious apartments with abundant natural light, modern appliances (including in-unit washers and dryers), and a variety of floor plans. The building’s historic, walkable neighborhood location, underground parking, scenic views, and a range of price points were highlighted as strong draws. Dining has been called out as a strength in many accounts: an on-site trattoria, private dining options, and reports of improved meal quality give residents choices beyond a central dining room.

Social life and amenities are another frequently noted asset. The community offers a broad activity calendar — yoga, outings, games, and other group events — and residents and families described an inviting, engaged community atmosphere. Common areas and apartments were commonly described as clean and well maintained, and many reviewers emphasized that the residence feels like an apartment community rather than an institution.

Care quality and staffing present a mixed picture. Numerous families praised individual caregivers for attentiveness, warmth, prompt health monitoring, and good communication when concerns arise. At the same time, reviews point to operational weaknesses: inconsistent staffing levels and turnover have produced variability in caregiver competency and responsiveness. Several reviewers raised concerns about gaps in the memory-care program and about the facility’s ability to reliably meet the needs of residents who require higher levels of assistance. There are also specific safety supervision concerns noted, including instances of wandering and missing residents, which suggest a need to validate staffing ratios and supervision protocols in the memory-care unit.

Operational and management issues surfaced in multiple areas. Housekeeping and some service tasks were described as inconsistent, and families reported lapses in communication and unresolved billing or service-charge questions. There are also references to workplace culture concerns and staff-side disputes that may be contributing to turnover. A small number of serious personnel-related claims include allegations of discriminatory behavior and hostile work-environment issues; these types of allegations warrant direct inquiry with management and, if appropriate, review of any regulatory or legal follow-up.

Privacy and cost issues were also raised: a few reviewers expressed privacy concerns related to in-room surveillance and several noted that parking and other ancillary fees are substantial. Finally, while many residents experienced a smooth transition from independent to assisted living, some reviewers felt the assisted-care services were uneven and suggested the community may be better suited to more independent seniors or those with lower assistance needs unless families confirm consistent staffing and program delivery.

Recommendations for prospective residents and families: tour the memory-care neighborhood and ask for current staffing ratios and examples of the daily programming; request recent menus and sample dining-service flow; review housekeeping and billing procedures in writing; inquire about staff training, turnover rates, and how the community handles safety supervision and privacy; and confirm all ancillary-fee schedules (parking, dining, etc.) before committing. Overall, St. Rita Square offers a well-appointed, socially active environment with many satisfied residents, but operational variability in caregiving and memory-care services is an important consideration when evaluating fit for higher-dependency needs.
