    Friendly staff, excellent meals, comfortable

I live here and feel well cared for - the staff are friendly, helpful and attentive, and the manager listens. Meals are very good and served daily, activities (exercise class, activity room) and laundry service keep life easy; the beautiful, safe facility and nice 1-2 bedroom apartments suit my needs. I had a positive tour and interactions, residents seem happy, and I'd recommend this place.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression Grace Lodge presents as a well‑kept, attractive assisted living community with a range of apartment sizes, on‑site amenities, and an active social program. Multiple accounts emphasize courteous, engaged staff members who create an inclusive atmosphere; residents and families describe pleasant daily interactions and staff who participate in conversation and activities. The facility’s public areas and apartments are described as clean and well maintained, and tour experiences are reported as positive and informative.

Care and staff Reviewers generally praise the quality of everyday care and the demeanor of frontline workers. Staff are characterized as friendly, helpful, and attentive to social needs; residents appear to have access to regular activities and staff often facilitate conversation and participation. At the same time, there is a notable operational concern raised about communication and responsiveness during clinical transitions. One family described an abrupt transfer to acute care and difficulties coordinating hospice support; this suggests the facility may have inconsistent protocols for notifying families and integrating external end‑of‑life providers. Prospective families should ask specific questions about transfer procedures, hospice coordination, and family notification practices.

Dining and activities Dining is repeatedly noted as a positive aspect: daily meals are provided and described as satisfactory by several residents and family members. The community offers on‑site laundry service, an activity room, and scheduled exercise classes, supporting both convenience and engagement. Residents are reported to participate in most activities, indicating an active calendar and staff support for programming.

Facilities and logistics The building and grounds are described as attractive and safe. Apartment options include one‑ and two‑bedroom units; however, availability can be limited at times, with two‑bedroom units specifically called out as the only immediate vacancy by one reviewer. Families touring the community generally report a helpful, gracious intake experience and a manager who listens, which supports a positive move‑in process when space is available.

Management and notable patterns Most feedback about management is positive — staff and leadership are portrayed as responsive and welcoming during routine interactions. The single serious family concern about the handling of an acute transfer and hospice involvement stands out against otherwise favorable commentary; it points to potential variability in how the facility executes clinical‑transition and end‑of‑life processes rather than to consistent day‑to‑day care problems. Prospective residents and families should verify written policies on transfers, hospice integration, emergency notification, and staff escalation procedures during tours.

Bottom line Grace Lodge appears to offer a comfortable, well‑maintained environment with engaged staff, solid dining and activity offerings, and helpful move‑in support. The primary operational weaknesses to probe further are family communication during clinical transitions, hospice and end‑of‑life coordination, and occasional limits on unit availability. Asking targeted questions about those areas during a visit will help families assess fit and risk for their specific needs.
