    Exceptional staff, homey, smooth transition

I'm very happy with Our House. The staff are exceptional-warm, attentive, and they treated my mom like family. The place feels homey and clean, rooms are comfortable, meals are homemade and timely, and there are lively activities, events, hospice support and transportation that made her transition smooth. Director Stacy and the team were responsive and kind; I highly recommend this caring, well-run community with just a bit of room to grow.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of this assisted living community are highly mixed, with a clear split between families who describe a warm, home-like environment and those who raise operational concerns. Positives commonly cited include a friendly, compassionate caregiving team, welcoming interior decor, private rooms with en-suite baths, and roomy common areas. Several families noted home-cooked meals and popular desserts, routine events (such as live music and holiday parties), onsite hospice coordination, transportation services, and a lower price point relative to alternatives.

Care quality and staffing present the largest area of divergence. Many reviewers praise individual staff members and directors for responsiveness, personalized attention, and solid transitions into residence. At the same time, an ongoing pattern of high staff turnover and variable leadership was described, and multiple accounts point to chronic understaffing or low staff-to-resident ratios that affect response times and availability of direct care. A number of reviews indicate variability in staff training and clinical oversight, and there are allegations concerning inappropriate staff conduct and substance-use concerns that prospective families should take seriously and verify with current management and licensing records.

Clinical operations and medication management are also recurring themes. Positive comments cite coordination with hospice and on-call clinical resources, but contrasting remarks describe delays in prescriptions, missing or incorrect medications, and general medication-management process gaps. The facility appears to lack consistent onsite skilled-nursing coverage, relying instead on on-call arrangements; this is an important operational trait to confirm for residents with complex clinical needs.

Dining and activities show similar inconsistency. Many residents and families enjoy the meals, describing them as home-cooked with a variety of choices and appealing desserts; however, other accounts describe menus that are not consistently tailored for memory-care dietary recommendations (for example, high-carbohydrate or sugar-heavy offerings) and slow implementation of requested dietary changes. Activity programming ranges from vibrant—live musicians, outings, crafts and holiday events—to limited or irregular, with reports of posted calendars not being followed and periods when residents were under-stimulated.

Facility condition and housekeeping also vary across reports. Strengths include comfortable room layouts, fresh paint and furnishings, and scenic country setting with a porch and outdoor spaces. Conversely, some reviews identify sanitation and housekeeping shortfalls in particular rooms and bathrooms, overflowing trash, and inconsistent cleanliness standards. Prospective families should observe housekeeping practices and ask about housekeeping frequency and pest-control procedures during a tour.

Management and communication show a mix of strong and weak experiences. Several directors receive praise for being engaged, communicative, and quick to respond; conversely, reviewers noted frequent leadership changes, uncommunicated management turnover, and inconsistent billing or placement communication. Taken together, the pattern suggests that resident experience at this location can depend heavily on current leadership, staffing levels, and unit-specific practices.

Overall, the facility demonstrates clear strengths in creating a home-like atmosphere, providing compassionate individual caregivers, and offering social events and hospice coordination. Offsetting those strengths are repeated operational concerns—staffing instability, medication-management gaps, inconsistent housekeeping, irregular activity delivery, and uneven management communication. Prospective residents and families would benefit from in-person observation of current staffing levels, a review of medication and clinical oversight procedures, a walkthrough of cleanliness in several rooms and common areas, clarification of activity schedules, and direct questions about leadership stability before making placement decisions.
