    Friendly staff and excellent care

I'm very pleased - the staff are friendly, caring and knowledgeable, and the care (attentive CNAs, 24-hour nurses) is excellent. The facility is immaculate and well-laid-out, meals are tasty with good variety, and there are plenty of engaging activities (Bingo, games, movies, van outings, live entertainment). Rooms are nicely remodeled with big, well-designed bathrooms, though some units are small. A few concerns others raised about management, pricing and occasional medication/odor issues are worth noting, but overall I highly recommend this community.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews of Absaroka Senior Living is predominantly positive, with repeated praise for the quality of care, the facility’s cleanliness and appearance, and the breadth of activities and dining. Many reviewers describe the building as immaculate, beautifully remodeled, and well maintained, with attractive communal spaces, mountain views, antiques or tasteful decor, and ample activity rooms. Multiple accounts emphasize the facility’s welcoming, family-like atmosphere and say residents are happy and feel safe.

Care quality and staffing receive considerable commendation. Reviewers frequently note well-trained and professional nursing staff, compassionate CNAs, and 24-hour nurse coverage. Medication management is described as reliable ("on-spot medication management"), and families report good communication and individualized care plans. Several reviews highlight staff who go above and beyond, staff who enjoy their jobs, and a generally caring, responsive team that answers questions and provides timely updates. Maintenance and admissions/move-in processes are also mentioned positively for being helpful and smooth.

Dining and programming are standout strengths. Many reviews praise the food as very good to excellent, with a skilled chef, tasty and perfectly cooked meals, good variety, and appealing desserts. Snacks, in-room refrigerators and microwaves, and pleasant dining spaces earn positive mentions. Programming is described as robust and engaging: thoughtful recreation therapy, daily activities from morning through evening, Bingo, puzzles, movies, games, live entertainment, and van outings. Reviewers frequently cite an active calendar that keeps residents stimulated and socially involved.

Facilities and accommodations show a mix of strong points and some limitations. Positives include large and well-laid-out bathrooms, clean and attractive public areas (library, beauty parlor), and a generally spotless environment according to many reviewers. However, several notes indicate rooms can be small, and some reviewers observed that online pictures are outdated compared to the remodeled facility. The community is referred to as "new," which aligns with comments that the layout is nice but may still be settling in.

Notable concerns and inconsistencies appear across the feedback and should be weighed carefully. A recurring management-related theme is negative: a few reviewers allege a profit-driven approach, director problems, threats of eviction, and use of scare tactics related to activities. These are serious claims that contrast sharply with the otherwise positive staff-related commentary and suggest potential variability in leadership or policy enforcement. Additional serious concerns raised by a minority of reviewers include claims of over-medication, frequent hospital visits for certain residents, and a reported urine smell — all of which warrant investigation and clarification with management before making placement decisions.

Practical considerations mentioned by reviewers include the cost (one cited figure: $5,600/month and described as high and rising) and a reported lack of security surveillance. While many families recommend the community highly and feel their loved ones are well cared for, others describe limited interaction with staff or inconsistent night-shift experiences, pointing to variability in day-to-day resident engagement or staffing. In summary, Absaroka Senior Living receives strong, repeated praise for cleanliness, an active and varied activity program, excellent dining, and compassionate caregiving staff, but prospective residents and families should also explore management practices, safety measures, staffing consistency, and concrete examples of the concerns raised (medication practices, hospital readmissions, eviction policies, and surveillance) to ensure the community is the right fit.

    About Absaroka Senior Living

Absaroka Senior Living is a single-story assisted living community in Cody, Wyoming, about 52 miles from the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park, and folks there live in private apartments that come in several floor plans like studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units, all with handicap-accessible bathrooms, mini refrigerators, and microwaves to make daily tasks a bit easier, so you don't have to worry about climbing stairs or dealing with crowded hallways. The community has nurses on site from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with nurse assistants available all day and night, and there's always staff, including registered nurses and licensed practical nurses, rotating around to help, which can make families worry less about their loved ones' safety, and this gives residents help with things like bathing, dressing, and medication whenever they need it. Residents get three nutritional meals every day in a cozy, restaurant-style dining area with comfortable seating, and there's housekeeping and regular maintenance, so nobody has to fuss over chores or cleaning. Folks like sitting out on the covered patio with mountain views or gathering inside around the fireplace or TV for a movie night, and there's a library, beauty salon, activity room, family rooms, and open common areas throughout the building for visiting, relaxing, and spending time together. The place runs all kinds of activities, from Bingo, puzzles, arts and crafts, and game nights to group outings, field trips, scenic bus rides, and even veteran assemblies, and the activity calendar is full with social, educational, and recreational programs because staying active helps people feel better and more connected. Bus transportation is available for trips or appointments, guest and resident parking is provided, and the building's close to main buslines for family visits, so coming and going is about as easy as can be in a place like this. Memory care features help residents who might get confused or wander, and those who need a higher level of care or even therapy and rehabilitation services can get it since the community is licensed for Wyoming Assisted Living care. Every person gets a personalized care plan that staff develop alongside families, and there's a real focus on showing respect, kindness, and care for each resident, so people can keep their independence as much as possible while getting help when they need it. The culture in the building leans on friendship, a sense of community, and honoring everyone's story, and activities often focus on bringing people together with food, entertainment, and events, but residents are always welcome to quiet time too, with contemplation rooms available, so everyone can find their own comfort whether it's with a crowd or in a peaceful spot. While Absaroka Senior Living is not the biggest place around, it offers a warm, well-kept, and dependable environment, helping seniors hold on to their independence while staying safe and supported in their daily lives.
