    Pleasant facility but not suitable

I toured this bright, cheery facility - the owner personally showed me around and wasn't pushy. Rooms are big, the area and staff are nice and responsive, lunch looked good and the place felt happy and well-managed. However it's inconvenient for daily driving and I felt my loved one would need more hands-on care, so it wasn't the right fit.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is positive about the environment, staff demeanor, and physical accommodations, with the main concerns centering on location and the level of hands-on care available. Visitors consistently describe the facility as bright, cheery, and happy, and several comments highlight that staff are actively interacting with residents during visits. The physical space receives favorable mention: rooms are described as big and nice, and the facility sits in a pleasant neighborhood. Dining impressions are also positive, with lunch noted as looking good during tours.

Staffing and management come through as strengths in the reviews. Reviewers repeatedly mention nice, engaged staff and management. The owner personally conducts tours and is noted as approachable and not pushy, which reviewers appreciated. The facility appears to respond quickly to referral inquiries, indicating a responsive intake or admissions process. These elements suggest a welcoming front-line experience and attentive communication from management and staff.

However, there are clear caveats reported by some reviewers. The location is called out as inconvenient for daily driving, which could be a significant drawback for families or caregivers who plan frequent visits or need regular access. More substantively, several reviewers indicated that the home was "not a fit for" their loved one and explicitly expressed a desire for more hands-on care. This pattern suggests the facility may be better suited to residents with lower to moderate assistance needs rather than those requiring intensive personal or medical care.

Taken together, the reviews portray a well-kept, pleasant facility with friendly, engaged staff and an owner who provides a reassuring, non-salesy admissions experience. The accommodations and dining leave a positive impression. Prospective families should weigh the convenience of location and confirm the facility's capacity for hands-on care against their loved one's specific needs — the overall impression is welcoming and well-managed, but possibly limited in scope for higher-acuity care requirements.

About A Place Called Home Residential Care #3

A Place Called Home Residential Care #3 sits in Clovis, California, and provides a home-like setting for up to six seniors at a time, which keeps things personal and allows each person to get more one-on-one care than bigger places, so you'll see staff helping with everything from moving around to remembering to take medicine and even giving insulin shots or helping with lifts if needed, and the whole place is run by a registered nurse who's got years of hospital, ICU, ER, and hospice experience, so they know how to watch out for folks who wander or have memory problems. This house has both private and semi-private bedrooms, all with high ceilings and private bathrooms with tubs, as well as fully equipped kitchens, washers and dryers, plus high-speed internet and cable; they even throw in daily housekeeping, linen service, laundry, and dry cleaning, so residents don't have to fuss about chores. The caregivers talk with residents using Filipino, Spanish, or English, making it friendlier for folks from different backgrounds. Meals are home-cooked, with kosher and vegetarian options if needed, and if someone wants a snack, there's always something handy. You'll see a nurse on staff, a doctor on call, and home health professionals popping in and out. There's 24-hour supervision, so if someone needs help with bathing, grooming, restrooms, transfers (whether it's just a little or with a mechanical lift), or even some extra support for memory or behavior changes, staff can step in right away. Folks who like spiritual activities or devotional services can join in on-site or even off-site, with chaplains and priests stopping by; there's also birthday and holiday parties, live music, dancing, and trips out to the local library or senior center-all planned to keep residents sharp and social. For active time, there's outdoor games and gardening in landscaped yards and patios, along with plenty of indoor space to visit, relax, and join scheduled group activities. Transportation is available for a fee, and the house sits close to bus lines. Security systems, safety handles, medication dispensers, and monitoring help keep everyone safe, especially folks with memory issues. Families get updates and honest guidance, and the place offers aging-in-place care, so people don't have to move when their needs grow, and they can even arrange for short-term stays or hospice care if it's needed. The small setting brings a sense of community and warmth, and repeated good reviews mention the personal attention and friendly feeling, because here, staff take pride in keeping things calm, engaging, and safe for some of the more vulnerable seniors in Clovis.
