      Caring staff, clean community, recommended

I toured and would move in - the staff are exceptionally caring and attentive and the care and safety emphasis are excellent. The community is very clean, organized, and good value with nice homes, a newest building and a new kitchen. Meals look and taste good (portions could be larger), and residents seemed happy, though I'd like more activities and some outdoor areas and a few interiors could use updating. Overall I highly recommend.

      Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review summaries for AJ Huntington Home #3 is positive, with consistent praise for the quality of care and the compassion of staff. Multiple reviewers explicitly described the care as "exceptional" and staff as "caring and attentive," and several noted that residents appeared happy. Safety and organization are mentioned favorably, with comments about a clean, organized environment and an emphasis on safety that contributes to reviewers' willingness to recommend the community.

Care quality and staff: The strongest and most recurrent theme is the high regard reviewers have for the caregiving team. Descriptions such as "caring staff," "attentive," and "exceptional care" indicate confidence in day-to-day support and personal attention. This theme is reinforced by statements that residents seemed happy and by direct recommendations to others, suggesting that staff interactions and resident well-being are standout aspects of the facility.

Facilities and maintenance: Feedback on the physical plant is mixed but leans positive. Reviewers note that the community is "very clean" and "well organized," and several praise the newer building and the presence of a "new kitchen." Ownership/management are described as pleasant, and some reviewers said they would consider moving in, which points to an overall favorable impression of the homes themselves. At the same time, there are repeated notes that some interior areas need updating or deeper cleaning and that exterior/grounds need work. The coexistence of comments like "very clean" alongside "inside needs updating and cleaning" suggests variability by area or by timing of visits — some parts (especially the newest building) are well-maintained while older sections or outdoor spaces may lag in upkeep.

Dining and meals: Dining receives generally positive marks: reviewers comment that meals "look good," are "presented well," and taste good. The presence of a new kitchen is a positive signal for food service. However, a recurring caveat is portion size; at least one reviewer explicitly said portions could be larger. Taken together, the reviews portray a dining program that is appealing in presentation and quality but may under-serve appetite or portion expectations for some residents.

Activities and programming: The clearest area for improvement is enrichment and activities. Multiple reviewers said there is a need for more activities, indicating that social and engagement programming may be limited or less robust than expected. This is one of the few consistent criticisms across summaries and stands out relative to the many positive comments about care and cleanliness.

Value, management, and overall impression: Reviewers frequently describe the community as a "great value" and praise the owner/management as "pleasant," which supports a favorable overall impression. The combination of attentive staff, good meals, a clean environment, and new facilities contributes to strong recommendations and willingness to move in. Still, the presence of "very basic" accommodations in some comments suggests the amenity level is modest; while this may align with the community's value proposition, it also signals limits in luxury or advanced programming.

In summary, AJ Huntington Home #3 is perceived as a well-run, safety-conscious community with strong caregiving and attentive staff, appealing meals, and clean, newer facilities in parts of the campus. Areas to monitor or improve include expanding activities and programming, addressing portion sizes in the dining program, and attending to exterior grounds and certain interior maintenance or updating needs. The dominant impression is positive, with multiple reviewers willing to recommend the home and noting they would consider moving in themselves, tempered by a few consistent but fixable complaints about activities, portions, and some upkeep.

      About AJ Huntington Home #3

AJ Huntington Home #3 sits at 6081 Ivory Circle in Huntington Beach, California, and since 2007 it's served as a small senior care facility with room for six residents in both studios and one-bedroom units, offering a quiet place where seniors get help from staff who are always there, day or night, and you'll find accommodations that are safe and include ADA-compliant private bathrooms and non-slip floors. There's a focus on personal attention here, with care plans set for each resident's needs, so if someone needs help with getting dressed, bathing, eating, transferring, toileting, falls, memory care, medication, or incontinence, the caregivers-sometimes RNs, LVNs, or CNAs-are always present to step in, and they'll also handle your meals, laundry, and housekeeping, including linen service. Meals come fresh from the chef, and menus are easy to read, which is good news for folks who might struggle with small print, and if somebody wants a place to eat with others, there's a dining hall, but there's also a community kitchen where you can help out if you like, and for people who may need mealtime assistance, staff will help with that too. The facility fits both folks who get around well and those who need help, with supports for non-ambulatory and high acuity care, so folks can age here with less worry about moving again, and there's also help for memory and dementia care, cancer care, disease-specific needs, and even hospice, plus scheduled doctor checkups and health assessments by a nurse. There's always something to do-a reading section, movies in the theater, exercise in the fitness area, walking trails outside that are landscaped and safe, a games room, and daily planned activities ranging from arts and crafts to group events, and a hair salon's tucked in for easy grooming. Plus, the facility allows cats and dogs, so family pets can live with residents as long as it's safe, and the staff makes sure people get to their medical appointments with transportation services, including complimentary rides and on-site parking for visitors. The chapel offers a place to reflect, and for folks who need a little extra support, there's help with speech therapy, massage, family counseling, and even concierge service to help out with little things. Security is strong, with monitoring systems throughout the building, and with only six beds, AJ Huntington Home #3 keeps things quiet and calm, making it a spot where folks can get the right help, stay safe, and still keep in touch with daily life, friends, and the outdoors if they like.
