I toured and moved my mom in - the campus is gorgeous with tons of amenities (pool, pickleball, theater, multiple gyms, restaurants), roomy units with full kitchens and in-unit laundry, and friendly residents. Day-to-day staff and some nurses have been wonderful and responsive, and on-site rehab/medical services are a real plus. Biggest issues: chronic short-staffing and high turnover, spotty management communication, billing/contract promises not always kept. Dining disappointed us - meals often lukewarm, limited healthy/vegetable options, long waits and awkward buffet setup for walkers. Internet/TV reliability and occasional slow maintenance are recurring headaches. Overall a beautiful, activity-rich community with caring people, but go in eyes open about food, staffing and extra charges.
Westmont of Riverside sits on 150 acres of rolling hills in Riverside, California, and the place covers just about every type of senior living you could want, with independent living, assisted living, memory care for folks with Alzheimer's or dementia, skilled nursing, and even short- or long-term home care if you need extra help, and the three-story building's got everything from studio apartments up to roomy two-bedroom places, with most apartments having their own patio or balcony, and the big bedrooms can even fit a king-size bed, plus you're looking at walk-in closets, modern kitchens with stainless steel appliances and granite counters, so you're not giving up comfort just to get support, and you see a lot of other useful amenities too, like a theater for movies and group events, a heated indoor pool if swimming's your thing or you need it for therapy, a fitness center so you can keep active, a library for quieter time, and a bistro where folks gather for coffee or a bite to eat or just to talk. The community's got pet-friendly policies so you can bring your animals along, and there's both outdoor and indoor spaces to walk or visit, along with structured activity programs: ballroom dancing, museum trips, crafts, social groups, and even volunteer opportunities for those who want to stay involved, so people really can get out and stay connected, rather than feel stuck inside. Residents get three meals a day and transportation services for errands or group outings, and the place is accessible for those with handicaps or using wheelchairs, plus there's high-speed internet throughout. Westmont of Riverside provides personalized care plans, especially for those who need help with daily living-help with dressing, bathing, and meds comes from trained staff, and if someone's dealing with memory loss, the Compass Rose® program and dedicated memory care neighborhoods keep things secure and familiar. Residents can join community events and religious or devotional services without having to leave the property, and there are always on-site therapy services and nurses around for those who need a bit more hands-on medical care. They're open all day, every day, with staff available 24/7, and while the place isn't BBB accredited, it has picked up honors like "Best of Senior Living" and "Best Activities," which shows they put effort into keeping folks busy and comfortable. People moving in can choose different pricing and floor plans, and there are resources and assessments-like lifestyle or care assessments-to help families figure out what option fits best. Westmont of Riverside might be able to help with payment using Medicare, Medicaid, veteran's benefits, or tax programs. While the facility looks nice and gets described as elegant, what stands out is how much it promotes social connections, activity, and friendly community life, whether someone is fully independent or needs more day-to-day help.
