    Compassionate staff, small home-like facility

I moved my dad here and the staff are the reason - compassionate, family-focused, know him well and provide round-the-clock dementia care that truly comforts him. The place is small and home-like with great meals, activities, a garden and caring volunteers, and it's improving under new management. Drawbacks: rooms are cramped, parts of the building felt run-down at times (occasional odors/cleanliness issues) and I'd be cautious about memory-care supervision. Pricing felt like strong value (roughly $3-4K/month depending on room); overall I'd recommend it mainly for the staff, but check room size and memory-care specifics first.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is broadly positive about the people who work at Evergreen Residence Assisted Living and Alzheimer’s Care, with repeated praise for a warm, home-like atmosphere, hands-on staff, strong meal programs, and generally good value for cost. Multiple reviewers emphasize that the staff are compassionate, long-tenured, and form close, family-like relationships with residents. Comments include staff who provided daily companionship and assistance, staff who know residents well, and care that reduced family worry. Several reviews specifically note dementia expertise, a dedicated Alzheimer’s area, and 24/7 supervision and support as meaningful strengths.

Care quality and staff performance are the most consistently praised elements. Reviewers repeatedly call out compassionate caregivers, good training, and staff who take an active role in residents’ daily lives. There are multiple anecdotes of positive outcomes tied to this care — for example, residents regaining weight or progressing from bed to walker — and many statements that staff were instrumental in making residents feel at home. The activities director and volunteer program are also highlighted; reviewers mention daily activities, weekly volunteer entertainment, and small touches such as ice cream treats and garden time that contribute to quality of life.

Facilities and rooms receive mixed feedback. On the positive side, some reviewers describe the facility as remodeled, warm and cozy, with a gated entrance, clean kitchen, and no offensive odors in certain areas. Private rooms with a private bathroom are available, and there are garden spaces. At the same time, several reviewers raise concerns about small, crowded or depressing rooms, the absence of in-room showers, and an overall sense that parts of the building are run-down. Cleanliness is generally praised in many comments (clean kitchen, residents appearing clean), but a few reviews mention urine smell and other cleanliness issues, indicating inconsistency across the facility or between units.

Dining and activities are strengths repeatedly cited. Meals are described as made from scratch and “incredible,” and reviewers attribute health improvements (e.g., restored weight) to the food and care. The dining room is also used as an activity room, which supports daily programming but may limit dedicated recreational space. The activities director’s engagement and the presence of volunteers for weekly entertainment are positive signals for resident engagement, though some reviewers still found the social environment lacking and preferred other facilities for social life.

Management, pricing, and value show a generally favorable impression with some variability. Several reviewers mention that the facility is under new management and undergoing remodeling, suggesting active investment. The facility’s pricing is described as flat-rate and affordable by multiple reviewers; specific prices cited include $3,100/month for two-per room, $4,000/month for single rooms, and another report of $2,850/month for a private room in a rehab discharge situation. Reviewers frequently characterize the overall offering as a good value, especially given the quality of staff and meals. However, there is some inconsistency in how pricing or memory care options are presented across reviews — one reviewer noted cost was not disclosed, and others reported differing statements about whether a memory care unit is offered or how well it is supervised.

Notable concerns and patterns to monitor include room size and condition, inconsistent cleanliness/odor reports, and mixed feedback about memory care supervision. Several reviewers explicitly describe very small or crowded rooms and a portion of reviewers called resident rooms depressing or the building run-down. Memory care is a mixed theme: while some reviews reference an Alzheimer’s area and dementia expertise, others report poor supervision in the memory care unit or say memory care is not offered — an inconsistency that is important for prospective residents and families to clarify directly with management. A few reviewers also noted that the resident population appeared more disabled than they expected, or that some residents seemed “out of it,” which could reflect placement mismatches or variable acuity levels across units.

Recommendation: Evergreen Residence appears to excel in personal care, staff engagement, meal quality, and offering strong relational support to families and residents, and it is frequently described as good value for cost. Prospective families should prioritize a site visit to inspect room size and condition, verify housekeeping and odor control in person, confirm whether the memory care unit is appropriate for their loved one (and inquire about staffing and supervision levels there), and get a clear, written statement of all fees and room options. Given the mix of comments about remodeling and variable conditions, ask which areas were remodeled and whether ongoing renovations might affect the unit under consideration. Overall, the facility has clear strengths in caregiving and meals but shows variability in physical plant condition and memory-care consistency that deserve careful, case-specific review.
