    Generally positive with some inconsistencies

I'm generally reassured by the facility: it's clean, well-kept and home-like, the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, and rehab/medical care and medication timing have been good. The community is warm and faith-based with many activities and a full continuum of care in a convenient location. My concerns are inconsistent rules/PPE, uneven food quality and weekend staffing, and limited outdoor seating/facilities. Overall I feel my loved one is safe and cared for, but management and dining could be more consistent.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Alliance Community is predominantly positive, with frequent praise for the quality of hands-on care, rehabilitation services, and the demeanor of frontline caregivers. Many reviewers specifically call out caring CNAs and nurses, prompt assistance, knowledgeable medical staff, and timely medication administration. Rehabilitation and therapy are repeatedly described as excellent, and multiple accounts indicate that residents were well taken care of during rehab stays. The facility is often described as clean, well-kept, and home-like, with an atmosphere that some reviewers liken to a 'country club' relative to other facilities they have experienced.

Staff and community are consistent strong points in the reviews. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, knowledgeable, not pushy, and willing to help with events, shopping, and resident programming. Several reviewers highlight a warm Christian environment and note a genuine sense of community — residents are described as happy and satisfied, with active social engagement such as caroling and other events. Security and supervision receive positive mentions: the Alzheimer's wing is locked for safety, staff are watchful, and the facility is viewed as safe for residents.

Facility features and living options are also seen favorably. Reviewers cite a variety of living arrangements, from independent living to nursing care, emphasizing the continuum of care available. The property is described as nice, peaceful, and having an 'old Florida' charm; facilities are mostly clean, orderly, and comfortable. Specific amenities called out positively include a great pool, comfortable dining area, and home-like rooms. Laundry and food services are provided, and there is perceived adequate staff-to-patient ratio by several reviewers.

However, there are notable and recurring concerns that temper the overwhelmingly positive feedback. Dining is an area of mixed reviews: while some report good meals, multiple comments call out inconsistent food quality and at least one reviewer describes the food as horrible, attributing problems to an inept cook. Staffing quality appears uneven at times — weekend staff are specifically mentioned as less attentive in several summaries. Management and policy communication also surface as pain points: reviewers report confusing COVID PPE policies, inconsistent rules, and at least one perception of a lack of compassion or clear communication from management. These issues suggest variability in administrative consistency and enforcement of policies.

A few other caveats appear in the reviews. New ownership is noted, which can imply transitional growing pains or changes in operations that prospective residents and families should monitor. Some reviews are based on a single visit or limited interaction, so their observations may be more impressionistic than comprehensive. Additionally, while the majority of feedback is positive, there is at least one extreme negative report (an extremely dissatisfied reviewer indicating a zero-star experience) that should be treated as an outlier but nonetheless prompts the need for prospective families to ask specific questions and, where possible, seek multiple references.

In summary, Alliance Community presents as a caring, clean, and community-oriented senior living option with particularly strong rehab services, attentive frontline caregivers, and a comfortable, home-like environment. Prospective residents and their families should be encouraged by the strong staff reputation, safety features (including an Alzheimer's wing), and continuum of care. At the same time, they should probe the dining program, weekend staffing consistency, and management communication practices, and ask about recent changes under new ownership and current COVID/PPE policies to ensure the aspects that matter most to them are stable and meet expectations.

    About Alliance Community

Alliance Community in DeLand, Florida has been around since 1968 and serves about 275 residents between its independent living, assisted living, and health care facilities, with a focus on promoting Christian fellowship and ministry and a family-style of care for everyone who lives there, and you'll find people can bring their own furniture, hang up pictures, and decorate their places how they like, whether they choose a private home, duplex, triplex, or apartment, all of which are maintained by a full-time maintenance crew who handle repairs, broken items, and even help with hanging those pictures. The grounds always look nice because the facility has people full-time who handle lawn care, landscaping, and irrigation, and for safety, every home has an Emergency Response System along with security alarm systems that monitored by patrol officers from a Public Safety Department that's around all day and all night, and besides that there's a 24-hour emergency call system in the residences and an in-home alarm system monitored by actual security staff. Alliance Community gives people a maintenance-free way of living, with meals provided three times daily through Any Time Dining in a dining hall, weekly housekeeping, bed making, linen and towel service, and all utilities except for phone and internet included in private homes with private bathrooms, and for residents who need help, staff are there 24/7 to assist with things like dressing, grooming, bathing, walking, medication, and even just getting around. Alliance covers a broad range of care, including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, sub-acute care, dementia care, and Alzheimer's care, all within its on-site Health Care Center which houses over 130 beds and offers skilled nursing, rehabilitation, stroke recovery, pain management, surgeries, cardiac care, outpatient care, along with physical, speech, and occupational therapies, and people with memory issues get specialized programs and supervision. There's a focus on giving residents a sense of community with a chapel right in the center for devotional activities, plus a full calendar of recreation, wellness, spiritual programs, group excursions, and off-campus trips handled by transportation staff using a bus and a van, and for those who want it, they even offer financial services like bill paying and planning to make things less stressful. The campus keeps things safe and supportive and if someone's health changes, they're guaranteed a spot in the assisted living or skilled nursing sections if needed, and the life-care program with a life-lease on homes and one all-inclusive fee for services is there to help people plan ahead, ease some worry about the future, and support independence with dignity. People who are thinking about moving in can ask for a tour, eat a meal, meet current residents, and see for themselves how it feels, and the place carries a 3.5-star rating with 13 reviews, so it's not perfect but it's got a lot of folks working hard to help seniors with what they need. Amenities include a dining hall, chapel, clubhouse, gym, weekly programs, comfortable, well-kept living spaces, and grounds, plus help with transportation for appointments, shopping, and other outings, so residents don't feel stuck. Everything runs during weekday business hours in the offices from 8:30 to 4:30, but direct care and emergency systems are always available, and the community stays committed to helping people live with purpose and comfort, with attention to both physical and spiritual needs, and people are invited to explore more on their website, alliancecommunity.org, to learn about accommodations, activities, and the support they might find here.
